Superheroes X-Men: Days Of Future Past (2014)

Just visited the pictures today and saw the latest X-Men movie. Once you get past the annoying continuity problems such as Professor X's resurrection and the issue surrounding Stryker's needless reappearance, it is not a bad ride.
Michael Fassbender once again is the best thing on screen along with Ian McKellen's glorified cameo as both versions of Magneto.
Also, my knowledge of "X-Men" comic history is foggy to say the least, so who can explain who the mysterious character was seen during the "Ancient Egypt" button scene at the end of the credits?

I was so on the fence about being excited for this movie. And, coming out, I was so on the fence about being excited about the movie.

I felt like First Class was a much needed breath of fresh air for the franchise. Bringing back the original characters, while a great way to hype the film, gave it a sort of stale taste to me. That said, IMO, it was the best X-men film.
It has problems, but they're not huge ones.
The biggest one is tackled on Comics Alliance.

Extremely valid points.

Looks like this movie tries to rectify the plot inconsistencies with the other movies. Basically, it partly erases the other movies. hehe

Sentinels! Sentinels! They're are fighting the Sentinels! :D

I just wish I could remember how the Sentinels are able to not be instantly crushed into soda cans by Magneto. I may have to go back and re-read some of the collection.

I liked the movie, kind of managed to reboot the franchise as well, a bit like the recent Star Trek movies. I look forward to see what happens with future x-men movies.

I just thought, the one thing the movies didn't carry on with Mystique was her friendship with Destiny. I wonder which comic book reader today would know that.

True Destiny is a missing part of the x-Men movies, I liked her character and remember when she died in the comics. Also in the movies no connection to Nightcrawler or Rogue.

Film: X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)

I have more or less kept up with the X-Men films (barring the odd offshoot) as it is one of the better fantasy series of recent times, so I ordered the DVD as soon as it became available. What follows has some minor spoilers so, if you insist on every development coming as a surprise (in which case, why read reviews?) you had better stop now – I'll just say that it's definitely worth seeing.

I found the start rather confusing because I had formed the impression beforehand that it was the sequel to X-Men: First Class, which was set in the 1960s; probably because of the advertised presence of Jennifer Lawrence rather than Rebecca Romijn as Mystique. However, the beginning consists of a series of savage combats set in a bleak future world wrecked by warfare, in which the X-Men have been hunted to near-extinction by the Sentinels, artificial humanoids specifically designed to detect and kill them. The few survivors, including an aged Professor X and Magneto working together, had deduced that the war was started by one act in 1973 – the killing by Mystique of Bolivar Trask (Peter Dinklage), the creator of the Sentinels. There is just one chance of changing history – so the time-shifting talent of one of the X-Men is used to send the mind of Wolverine back to inhabit his body in 1973, to try to prevent the assassination.

What follows is a race against time as Wolverine, now in 1973, tries to recruit the help of reluctant younger versions of Professor X and Magneto in finding Mystique and dissuading her from killing Trask, before the Sentinels in the future locate the last X-Men and destroy Wolverine's unconscious body. Of course that isn't simple and a series of complications ratchets up the tension, with some great set-pieces leading up to the climax.

The mood is darker than I recall from the previous films, but the plot is more focused and the dramatic pacing is very good. All in all, this film more than maintains the standard of the others. It was good to see Famke Janssen again, albeit briefly, but I still much prefer Rebecca Romijn's version of Mystique!

The X-Men movies have all hit home runs, ever time, and this one is no exception. I bought the "Rogue Cut" version, but I haven't watched it yet.

What do you think, guys, should I watch the other one again and then watch the "Rogue Cut" so I'll appreciate the differences? Or . . .not?

I call it a Movie Marathon or a Weekend Movie Block.
Any movie series with more than 3 movies should be watched in order~Especially if you just got the latest one and haven't screened it yet.
One thing that I do when doing a Marathon is I go online and find all the pertinent fansites having to do with the franchise. It enhances the experience.

I've seen the theatrical release version of Days of Future Past and enjoyed it but it caught my attention that this past week Cinemax has been showing the the Rogue Cut version. After having the DVR record it for me I sat down to enjoy it only to discover that only Cinemax Latin has been showing it and that it is dubbed in Spanish. :banghead:
