um do you want Syd to have a boy or a girl? You can decide what she's going to have
So
boy or
girl?
Chapter 7
“Are we there yet? My feet hurt.” Sydney whined.
“Not my fault the motel is so far away from my apartment” Michael replied.
“So, are we there yet?” Sydney repeated, hiding a smile because she knew she was annoying him.
“We are like ten feet closer than the last time you’ve asked.” Michael answered.
“At least you’re carrying my stuff” Sydney laughed lightly.
“Yeah, I still don’t know how you got me to do that” Michael complained.
“What can I say, you’re to good for this world” Sydney chuckled.
“That it has to be” Michael sighed exaggerated.
“You really are” Sydney said, this time completely serious, “Thanks”
“You’re welcome” Michael smiled. After a while they arrived at the house where Michael’s apartment was.
“Here we are” Michael said as he opened the door.
“Wow, you really have space” Sydney was surprised at how big it really was.
“It’s not that big” Michael laughed.
“Definitely bigger than my motel room” Sydney replied.
“Well, that’s not hard. It was tiny” Michael said, “I’ll show you your room.
Michael walked to a door, carrying her stuff and Sydney followed him. The room looked nice, except for the boxes, which were standing all over the room.
“The boxes will come out of the room, I just didn’t plan on having you here today” Michael explained.
“No, you only followed me for fun” Sydney laughed, “But it’s okay. It’s even okay if they stay here, I don’t mind.”
“After we moved in we put the boxes in here because we didn’t need the room. But now we do, so the boxes have to leave” Michael said.
“We?” Sydney asked.
“Did I fail to mention that I have a roommate?” Michael asked with an apologizing smile.
“Yeah, and I’m sure you forgot it on purpose.” Sydney answered.
“Well, would you have agreed if I had told you?” Michael asked.
“No” Sydney replied.
“That’s what I thought. He’s okay, really.” Michael assured her.
“I don’t know” Sydney said, unsure whether she should stay or better leave.
“Do you trust me?” Michael asked.
“Do you want an honest answer?” Sydney looked straight at him.
“Then at least trust me on this” Michael asked.
“You better be right” Sydney sighed.
“I guess we’re about to find out” Michael said as he heard the door close, “You wait here”

“You what?” Eric asked incredulously a few minutes later.
“We don’t use this room, so I figured she could stay there” Michael explained.
“You must be kidding” Eric said.
“Why should I?” Michael replied.
“You don’t know her, you don’t know a thing about her, yet you let her live here” Eric said.
“I’m about to find out more” Michael said.
“You’re crazy” Eric stated.
“Well, maybe I am, but that’s my problem, not yours.” Michael replied angrily.
“No it is, you let her live here, so it’s mine too” Eric said as angry as Michael, but much louder. So loud that Michael was sure Sam could hear them.
“You’re aware that she’s able to hear you?” Michael asked.
“Well, I don’t care.” Eric answered.
“You don’t even know her,“ Michael said harshly.
“Yeah, but you don’t either and she already sounds like trouble.” Eric replied as harshly.
“Accept it or not. It doesn’t matter because she stays” Michael said firmly.
“Fine but don’t tell me I haven’t warned you if it goes wrong” Eric said and went into his room, slamming the door behind him.
Michael went to his couch, let himself fell on it and sighed. ‘This really went great’ he thought. He turned around when he heard the door open and then close.
“I can go, I don’t want you to have trouble” Sydney offered quietly.
“It’s okay, he sometimes acts like an idiot but he’ll get over it” Michael replied.
“Are you sure? It’s really no problem,“ Sydney repeated.
“It really is okay” Michael assured her.
“He didn’t seem happy about it. In fact he seemed pretty angry” Sydney said unsure.
“He doesn’t know you but once he does, he’ll see in you what I do” Michael said.
“And that is?” Sydney asked curiously, walking to the couch to sit next to him.
“A very nice girl, who has a cute smile when she shows it” Michael said smiling.
“Um…” Sydney was sure she was turning very red, “What’s your girlfriend going to say when she hears that you let me live here?” Sydney changed the topic.
“Don’t think she will care” Michael answered, “Because I don’t have one”
“Good” Sydney said, then it occurred to her what she just had said, “I mean…I…you know what I mean” Sydney stuttered. Now she was probably bright red.
“Sure” Michael laughed.
“I guess I go to sleep then” Sydney said.
“Or you could watch a movie with me. It’s boring alone and I don’t think Eric is going to come out of his room soon. So I could use some company,“ Michael proposed.
“Depends on the movie, what do you have?” Sydney asked.
“How does
'Ocean's twelve' sound?” Michael asked.
“Sounds fine to me” Sydney said smiling and made herself comfortable on the couch.
“You want something to eat?” Michael asked.
“Oh yes, please” Sydney replied.
“Pizza?” Michael proposed.
“Yummy” Sydney grinned.
Three hours later the movie was over and Sydney was half asleep, leaning slightly on Michael.
“Sam” Michael whispered, trying to wake her up, “You might sleep better in a bed”
“Mmm, you’re right” Sydney mumbled, “Night” Sydney stood up and walked into her room.
Unfortunately, the moment Sydney lay in her bed she was wide-awake. A week and a half ago she had been at home and everything had been all right. Now she was thousands of miles across the country in an apartment of someone she just had met. It was crazy and she hoped she was doing the right thing. She noticed that all she was doing lately was hoping and it made her uneasy, not knowing anything for sure.
