“Yeah... yeah...,” he mumbled. She lifted her head and kissed the side of his mouth softly. Then, he turned his head away from the TV and kissed her again. Sydney went to deepen their kiss, but Michael pulled back.
“Sorry,” Sydney said quickly as she turned slightly pink and looked away.
“No, it’s me.... not you,” he admitted shyly.
“It’s ok Michael, don’t worry about it,” she told him. He grumbled and leaned forward on the couch, resting his forearms on his knees and rubbing his face with his hands. “Michael,” Sydney said quietly as she rested a gentle hand on his shoulder. “I’m really, really sorry she hurt you, but... well, I’d never, ever do anything like that. That might not mean anything but-”
“It does,” he cut her off. Amazingly enough, what she said actually did make him feel better and more at ease since she sounded so sincere. He leaned over and kissed her fully. Sydney had immediate butterflies in her stomach and pulled back with a giggle and a massive dimpled grin.
