The In-Between

They were both horny. lol

I hope Cindy, being rather young, got board working at the library with no one coming in (except Sydney and Michael) that she decided to work somewhere else. That is the perfect job for Mrs. Smart. She doesn't have to do anything, just sit there all day.

Having Mrs. Smart back was good timing for them. They were probably going to end up doing it in the car even with Sydney protesting. Mrs. Smart can't come up to the third floor, so they have "their place" back.

hahah omg that was great, sex in the library... and michael was so hilarious...
and i loved sydney's reaction to seeing mrs. smart there...
man, they were both horny

Chapter 17
Unfortunately, Sydney had been right and Cindy’s absence from the library was only temporary. The very next time the two of them walked in, blankets in hand, Cindy was there scowling at them. Defeated, Sydney and Michael assumed their usual positions at the back corner table, though Michael insisted they could still escape for, in his words, a quickie. Sydney, however, disagreed.

Due to Cindy’s persisting appearance at the library and Sydney’s increasing desire to spend some more intimate time with Michael, she finally gave in (after weeks and weeks of pestering) to the two of them having sex in the back of her car. It was, however, just as she thought; the most unromantic experience in her life to date. Needless to say, that was a one-time occurrence.

In addition to their plotting ways to lock Cindy in the library office so the two of them could escape up to the third floor unnoticed, Sydney and Michael were actually very busy with their school work. So busy, in fact, that Sydney completely forgot about Michael’s application to spend his final semester in America until he informed her that he’d won the scholarship to go. Naturally, Sydney was happy for him, at first that was.

The more Sydney thought about Michael going away to America for the whole semester, the sadder she became. They were going to be an entire globe apart for five months; five whole months without clandestine library meetings or making out in her car and maybe even phone calls. She was sad enough that they were going to be apart, until Michael dropped another bombshell on her.

When Michael told her that he was planning on staying in America to pursue his next two years of pharmacist education, Sydney was thankful he’d told her over the phone, so he didn’t have to see her cry. Missing him for five months was going to be unbearable enough. Unbearable, but she was willing to do it, knowing they’d be together after that time, but three years? Sydney was positive she could not be away from him for that long. Lying on her bed in a ball after their phone conversation, she wondered if Michael telling her about his plans to further his education in America was a signal that he was planning on breaking up with her before going to the states. After all, who were they kidding? They had no future. If they got married, they couldn’t return to their homes; they’d have to move away from their families and never see them again. No, Michael wasn’t willing to do that Sydney decided. He was going to break up with her, go to America and marry a woman there. He could bring an American back to West Lasonvia much easier than he could bring her.

Sydney had sunk so low into her ‘Michael’s-breaking-up-with-me’ funk, she barely managed to pull herself together enough to study for her final exams. She passed them though, surprisingly well too considering her attitude. Immediately after both their semesters were over, Michael made plans for the two of them to go back to Rome. Sydney was convinced he was going to break up with her there, so at first, she told him she didn’t want to go, but in the end he badgered her enough so that she agreed just to get him to stop. She was definitely not excited about going, though.

“Syd, babe, what’s wrong? You seem so sad,” he told her as he stroked her face gently.

“I know it’s… it’s just ‘cause you’re leavin’, ya know?” she said in a sulking tone.

“I know,” he sighed as he pressed a kiss into her head. “I’ve gotta leave right after the New Year, you know?”

“Right after?” she asked sadly. Sydney knew he’d need to leave early in January but she just wasn’t sure how early.

“Yeah, the seventh,” he told her. “Classes start the twelfth and I want to get there and settled beforehand, you know?”

“Right…,” she agreed monotonously.

“Syd I know you’re upset I’m leaving but-”

“I’m not upset,” Sydney assured him. He gave her a look. “I’m not, I’m really not. I’m happy for you; this is a great opportunity.”

“Yes, it is, but it doesn’t mean I’m not going to miss you like crazy,” he told her with a smile. She managed to give him a half smile in return, but said nothing else for the remainder of their day walking around Rome.

Later in the hotel room, Sydney was getting ready for bed and Michael was lying back on the bed, contemplating Sydney’s attitude through that whole day. The fact that she was upset about him leaving to go to America was understandable. He would have been worried if she hadn’t been upset, but still, something else was bothering her. He wasn’t sure what it was, but he was hoping it would quickly disappear, once he had a chance to speak with her after she got ready, that was.

Sydney emerged from the bathroom and immediately walked over to her side of the bed, switched off the lamp and lay down. Despite the fact that she knew Michael wanted to make love, her heart just wasn’t in it, especially not if he was going to break up with her afterwards. “Syd come on,” he said, rubbing her arm lightly.

“I have a headache,” she said, repeating the cliché excuse line.

“No Syd I just wanna talk to you for a second,” he told her. “Please?”

Sighing, Sydney sat up and looked at him. He wouldn’t break up with her on the first night of their three night say, would he?

“Syd,” he began, taking her hands in his, “you know how after I graduate in California I want to try and continue with my education out there, right? Well… after you graduate I want you to come with me.”

Sydney was silent for a few moments before asking, “What?” not sure if she heard him correctly.

A soft smile began to creep across his face. “I want you to come with me. You know… you know we can’t be together here. It just won’t work… but in America we can be together.”

“What…what are you saying?” she asked softly, though she was praying she’d understood him correctly.

Michael dropped one of her hands and moved his up to cup her face. “I want to marry you, Sydney. I love you and I can’t even begin to think about five months without you, let alone a whole lifetime. I want to be with you forever…. After you graduate here you can come to America and we’ll meet up there. I’m sure we’ll have something better figured out by then and we can get married and-” he was cut off by Sydney’s lips crashing into his.

“Yes, yes, yes,” she repeated as she kissed him over and over again, tears streaming down her face. Then she buried her face in his chest and began to cry.

Michael, confused, tried to comfort her as much as he could. “Syd, Syd it’s okay. My god I didn’t think you’d have this reaction…”

“No, no it’s… its just,” she sniffed, “I thought you were going to break up with me!”

“What?” he asked as he stroked her cheeks, stunned.

“Yeah,” she nodded, “I thought you told me about going to school in America so I’d expect you to break up with me... you know ‘cause I thought you were going to America to find a woman to marry who you could bring back to West Lasonvia with you… since I can’t go there,” she said sadly.

“No, no of course not. I only want you, Syd,” he smiled at her.

“That’s good, cause I only want you too,” she smiled back at him. Then she leaned in and gave him a long, searing kiss.

“What happened to your headache?” Michael croaked.

“Gone,” she breathed before kissing him once more.

that was good
everything sorted
but lmao THAT was a proposal
he didnt even say the words
OR give her a ring....was that the proposal?

They're so sweet together and now they are going to get married!!!!!!!!! well not straight away but in the future...

Poor Syd thinking he was going to break up with her :(

I can understand Sydney's thinking, up until the Rome trip Michael gave no indication that he wanted her to come to America. But that's a man thinking, not realizing that saying nothing can say a lot...and the wrong thing. But, thank God he finally told her. The next five months apart will be hard but Sydney now knows, it's only temperary.

Chris
