Sorry, I just saw something like that on another forum, and while I replied there, I thought I'd share my sentiment here too.

That revelation of Parkinsons is pretty much the clincher. I also wouldn't easily condemn suicides as "weak" people. Everyone had their own personal demons to deal with, some handle them better than others, but it doesn't make them better people necessarily. Video tribute I saw somewhere.

Let me add another idea.... would Stan Lee's How to Write Comics qualify? Sounds like a good genre-specific book to look at.

Interesting. This is a break from the usual superhero fare that Marvel/Disney churns out.

Perhaps today it's hard not to make a good quality movie, with the budget and effects. But it sure depends on the execution, too.

I think sci-fi as in books doesn't have as much market as the movies. And the movies tend to go for the action and adventure type of stuff. The books with intellectual sci-fi don't seem to have that much appeal to a media-bombarded audience. However, I do believe classic sci-fi as we know it...

I saw on other forums that some viewers liked it, so I guess it's a bit of "yay." I myself haven't seen it, though.

Darn, I need my next salary so I can go watch it. Though, already, I've seen speculation on who's to appear in the sequel. Personally, I'd want to see Nova appear.

I think this confirms what I believe is the problem with Bay - overhumanizing something that is non-human. I'm sure the thing that will be the crowd drawer is Megan Fox, one of the sexy babes in action movies.
