Barry Hayes grew up in the mountains and coalfields of beautiful Southwest Virginia. He worked for a local newspaper after graduating high school. Barry later moved to Alabama where he attended Jacksonville State University.

Barry teamed with Jeremy Hicks and co-wrote two screenplays based upon their fantasy world of Faltyr. Barry and Jeremy weaved their ideas together and the Cycle of Ages Saga was forged. Their first book, Cycle of Ages Saga: Finders Keepers; was published by Dark Oak Press in 2013 and the second book Cycle of Ages Saga: Sands of Sorrow was released in 2015. Barry also co-wrote two more screenplays, a road trip comedy entitled Across the Border: South to Alaska and a dark comedy/horror tale about meth zombies plaguing a trailer park in Alabama, titled Zombies on Ice. This screenplay placed as a Top Finalist in the 2011 Cherub Films Horror Screenplay Competition under the title Night of the Living Rednecks.

Barry is currently working on an anthology of the post apocalyptic genre as well as developing a science fiction series. He currently resides in Alabama.
