Sci-Fi Favorite Type of Sci Fi

I like most-anything 'Hard' Sci-fi, where they go the extra mile to rationalise the fi elements of the sci with some amount of credibility. The moment the protagonist is waving a sonic screwdriver around to get him/herself out of a plot hole the writers dug him/her into, I'm out! :P

    question about cloning.

Even when cloning is perfected, I don't really see having clones of ourselves as being necessarily legal unto itself. The idea of a perfect copy of yourself is a huge psychological threat to ones identity, so I'd be very surprised if cloning of people ever gets that far. We'll find other...

What really would happen if aliens came to this planet

I'd invite them in for a lovely cup of tea. ^__^ I'd like to think we'd be reasonably welcoming. Though many would probably just be scared they were over here to take our jerbs! People tend to think of aliens coming over here bringing fleets or motherships and planet-blasting laser cannons...

Which movie do you think best represents the future

Yeah, that's the one! Give it a chance. Like I say, it's a drama, so it's not automatically what pops to mind when you think of a sci-fi animé but it's well worth a go if you're not opposed to dramas and you're into 'hard' sci-fi.

    Sci-Fi Prometheus

^ that doesn't mean they aren't in force. Some people find eating meat or animal drug trials unethical, but they're not prohibited by the laws. Just means he doesn't mind getting his hands dirty :P

Searching for an article on sci-fi costume design history.

Hi everyone! I'm trying to gather reference material / inspiration for an indie game I'd like to make some time in the near future, so I'm trying to find something like a history of sci-fi design in tv, film, comics, etc. I'm especially after pictures/examples of costume designs used in...

Which movie do you think best represents the future

Not a film, but an animé - Planetes. It gives a really great and realistic interpretation of commercial space flight. The over-arching story line involves the first manned mission to Jupiter, so set in the fairly near future by sci-fi standards. It even deals with the health risks of extended...

why there no story (movie,TV,novle..) about good Future

Generally sci-fi films have these 'bad' futures because it makes for good action, or as mentioned above, the makers of these films are trying to get a message across, and the future is obviously a good setting to portray the consequences of our actions now. I think that the whole element of...
