Oh thanks so much! I didn't think the denominator could be a decimal so when I divided 36 on both sides, I just left it
8y^2/36 and simplified it to 2y^2/9
Does anyone know how to rewrite this conic into standard form to identify the type of conic?
4x^2 + 8y^2 - 8x - 32 = 0
When I solved it out I got:
(x-1)^2/9 + 2y^2/9 = 1
This is close to the ellipse form, except the 2y^2 part.
