Nice conversation between Jack and Syd, but where is Michaelin this chapter? I would like to see them together soon.

Chapter 9
Dinner

“So you are leaving here soon” Sydney smiled as she walked into Michael’s room.

“Do I have to?” Michael pouted.

“You want to stay here?” Sydney glanced up at him.

“Well, the company is good” Michael smiled.

“Yeah, well, do me a favour and if you want to visit, don’t come in on a gurney” Sydney poked him with her pen.

“But it’s so much easier when people are rolling you around” Michael laughed.

“I’m sure” Sydney rolled her eyes.

“Oh come on Syd, laugh a little” Michael pouted once again.

“I have to go see my other patients” Sydney handed Michael his meds and a small paper cup of water, “Take these”

“And if I don’t?” Michael grinned.

“Well then I’m stuck here for a while waiting for you to take them” Sydney shook her head.

“I think I’m gonna take my chances with waiting” Michael laid back on his bed.

“Oh, are you?” Sydney glared at him.

“I think so” Michael nodded.

“Okay, well” Sydney took the pills from his hand and got onto the bed beside him.

“Syd, aren’t there like…patient-nurse fraternization rules?” Michael grinned, “I mean not that I don’t think you’re beautiful”

“Oh put a cork in it” Sydney rolled her eyes as she put the first pill between her fore fingers and poked it quickly into Michael’s mouth, “Now swallow!”

“You are awful!” Michael swallowed the pill, “Isn’t that illegal?!”

“It probably is” Sydney nodded, “So now we have a choice, you take the pills by yourself, or I do that for the rest of them”

“Fine” Michael groaned and took the pills from her hand.

“Thank you” Sydney smiled as she watched him take all of the pills and swallow, “Good boy”

“Will you be back?” Michael asked her as he drank some water to wash the pills down.

“Around lunch” Sydney nodded.

“Do you have a break before then?” Michael smiled.

“Yeah” Sydney nodded, “Why?”

“Can you grab me a sub from Subway?” Michael looked at her.

“Are you serious?” Sydney shook her head.

“Pllleaaase!” Michael pouted.

“Ugh- fine” Sydney agreed, “But it is going to be healthy, no meat ball subs for you!”

“I guess I can’t be a beggar and a chooser” Michael shrugged.

“Good train of thought” Sydney nodded, “I’ll see you in a few hours”

“Thanks Syd” Michael smiled as she disappeared to tend to her other patients.

Although Michael knew that Sydney had other patients, sometimes he forgot. Sydney was always there when he needed her to be, she always had a witty remark to counter his stupidity, she was always easy to talk to. It was hard to believe that she was likely dealing with 15 patients other than him.

But that begged another question.

Was Sydney just being nice to him because he was her patient?

Or was it something more?

Was she this nice to everyone?

Was he something special?

“Alright here is you’re sub” Sydney tossed a bag towards Michael.

“Thanks” Michael smiled at her.

“You know, after all the meals I’ve bought you…I think you should have a tab” Sydney poked her tongue out at him.

“Do it” Michael laughed.

“Make you a tab?” Sydney smiled, “Fine”

“Alright” Michael nodded.

“I mean, I probably have all the receipts from the felgercarb I’ve bought you” Sydney told him.

“Well, I have another idea” Michael told her.

“Oh, and what is that?” Sydney asked him.

“How about when I get out of here, I take you out to dinner?” Michael suggested.

“Sounds reasonable, but if we show up at a McDonald’s drive through…” Sydney laughed.

“Okay, change of rules, I will take you out somewhere classy for dinner”

“Sounds perfect”

Yes! They're actually going on a real date that doesn't involve them in a hospital room or hospital bed. :lol: I hope Nadia and Francie don't get all over Syd for it. :blush: Loved the update!
