Pretty Vegas

A/N

Good morning guys! I just want to say thank you for your kind words and most of all, your patience while I recovered from my pneumonia. I feel much better. As a thank you, I decided to give you this extra long chapter. Hope you enjoy. CJ

~Part 5~

“What do you want to do now?” He asked, grabbing her hand in his.

“Isn’t it that the million dollar question?” She said with a slight smile.

“I think we should tell your dad as soon as possible.” He said, looking straight into her eyes as she nodded in agreement.

“I know, but the question is how. I mean, I can’t just barge into his office and announced to him that we’ve gotten married last night. That would kill him.” She said as he pondered at her question.

“I could go with you. I’m sure if he sees that we’re totally committed to make this marriage work, he might actually give us his blessing.” He said hesitantly as she reached for her hand as she smiled at the fact that he was so concern about her well-being.

“I need to speak to my mom first. See what she thinks about the best way to approach the situation. See you later?” She said standing up from her chair without breaking eye contact with him.

“Sure and Sydney, if you decide to tell your father, please let me know. I may need to leave Vegas in a hurry and I would really like to say goodbye to you. I think no matter how we look at it, he might still want to kill me for corrupting his daughter.” He said smiling at her.

“I’m pretty certain that the corruption was mutual, but I promise to let you know if you need to pack in a hurry.” She said smiling back at him

“Good to know.” He said getting up from his chair and following her to the lobby. He watched her go in the private elevator that leads to their top floor while he took another elevator to go to his room to change his clothes for work.

Meanwhile in the Security booth:

Jack came in the office and stood in front of the monitors that were displayed on the wall.
Jerry and Danny were watching the computer screens while waiting for Weiss and Vaughn to come in for the day shift.

“Hey Mr. Bristow.” Jerry said, holding his cup of coffee with one hand while chewing on a glaze donut with the other.

“Jerry, anything interesting happened last night?” he asked, as his eyes remained focus on the screens in front of him.

“There were four frat boys trying to cheat the system last night. We finally caught up with them after Brenda from table five noticed that player number two was standing near the table, paying a very close attention to each hand that was dealt to player number one while talking on his cell phone. Then the camera followed the situation for a while and came up with player number three sitting at the bar and giving instructions to player number two on how player number one should bet to maximize their gain. The fourth player was trying to create a diversion away from his friends when he got into a confrontation near the slot machines. We interrogated them; and they were quick to reveal their plan to scam some money from the casino before going back home from their Spring Break. After they’d returned the money they stole, we let them go as they promised to never set foot in this casino again.

There was also a small fight in the lobby between a man, his wife and a woman who apparently got a little too frisky with the other woman’s husband. The altercation was quickly resolved as alcohol played a major factor in that situation and no assault charges were made.” Jerry reported as he double-checked his clipboard.

There was also a few calls made to the reception desk after a couple was spotted wondering around naked outside their room. When we got there to investigate, they told us they had locked themselves out while getting more ice for their private party.” Jerry reported to Jack.

“It was a crazy night, sir.” Jerry said with a tiny smile on his face.

“What did you expect? It was New Year’s Eve in Vegas. I’m surprised nothing really major happened. This town makes everyone a little crazy, if you give it time.” Danny smiled.

“Where are Weiss and Vaughn? Shouldn’t they be starting their shift right about now?” Jack asked looking at his watch.

“They aren’t here yet, sir but from the way they’ve partied last night, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them coming in with a slight hangover.” Danny said in an arrogant tone.

“Relax Danny, they’re allowed a private life. After all, it was New Year’s Eve and what they do on their own time is their business not ours. So butt out.” Jerry commented as they watched Jack’s reaction to that last comment.

“They are professionals. They can have fun as long as they don’t do anything to embarrass themselves, me or this hotel.” Jack said firmly.

“There’s were actually seen partying heavily in the hotel club with your daughters.” Danny gloated as Jerry shot in an angry look for ratting two of his good friends to the boss.

Jack shot him a confused look, “ That’s impossible. Why don’t you show me last night’s footage? “ Jack asked as he took a seat next to one of the computers.

Jerry typed on the computer to access the footage requested from last night. The club is equipped with multiple cameras discarded discreetly all over the place. In the light strobes in the ceiling, some behind the two-way mirror behind the bar and some discreetly design around the room to provide the employees a sense of security in case of trouble with some difficult customers.

After a few seconds, the footage of the club appeared on the screen. The images rolled on the screen as Jerry fast-forward to the time that Sydney and Nadia first appeared on the screen.

“Stop the tape. Rewind a bit. That’s it.” Jack instructed as they watched Sydney, Nadia and Francie entering the bar.

“What time did you say they showed up?” Jack asked.

“A little before ten.” Jerry replied pointing the time on the bottom of the computer screen.

Jack grabbed the remote from Jerry and fast-forwarded the images on the screen as they watched the girls dancing, laughing and flirting with some random guys.

It was at 10:30pm when Jack first saw Vaughn and Weiss and Will entering the bar and after scoping their surrounding for a few minutes, they quickly made their way to the girls’ table.

At first glance, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. It appeared they were just chatting and laughing as Weiss was showing Nadia some of his stupid magic tricks. The girls asked the guys to join them for a drink. The guys sat down and Weiss signaled the waitress to bring them another bottle of champagne.

An hour or so later, Sydney has dragged Vaughn to the dance floor. At first, he doesn’t seem to want to dance but then, she placed her arms around his neck and pulled him closer to her. They danced like that for a few minutes until they went back to their table for more refreshments. Then, he saw the girls dancing with each other and then dragging the guys for another trip on the dance floor. This time, Jack couldn’t believe his eyes. His Sydney was dirty dancing against Vaughn who had his hands all over her, but what made his blood reach the boiling point was when at the end of one song, he saw them kissing. It wasn’t one of those friendly kind of kisses; it was a passionate one, as they had their hands all over each other in a full make out session in view of everyone.

“Oh Dear God.” Jack said, as he couldn’t believe his eyes.

“I didn’t know that Vaughn was dating your daughter, Mr. Bristow.” Danny said smiling as Jerry gave him a shove in the ribs to be quiet.

“He’s not.” Jack said angrily. Please tell me I’m overreacting. This is not as bad as it looks, right?”

“Well they had their hands all over each other, sir. I would say that it is as bad as it gets.” Jerry mumbled the last part as he tried to avoid looking at Jack.

“It must be relatively new since you didn’t know about it, sir. So there’s no need to worry about them getting married to each other anytime soon…if ever.” Danny said, looking at the furry in Jack’s eyes.

“I swear to God, I ‘ll strangle him and then I’ll kill him.” Jack said, feeling his blood boil in his veins.

At that very moment, Weiss and Vaughn made their way to the security booth. As soon as Vaughn saw the anger in Jack’s face, he knew that somehow Sydney had talked to him and now, he was about to be killed in a very low and painful way.

“We need to talk.” Jack finally articulated. “Come with me.” He said pointing his index finger towards Vaughn who swallowed his pride and nodded.

“Nice knowing you. “Weiss said tapping his friend on the shoulder before watching Vaughn follow Jack to his office.

Once in the office, Jack sat down behind his desk as Vaughn stood there, not really sure if he should sit or stand to face his execution.

“Vaughn, you have about thirty seconds to tell me what’s going on between you and my daughter, or I swear to God, I’ll pull my gun out of this drawer and shoot you dead on the spot.”

“All right, “Vaughn said, combing his fingers through his hair, knowing he had to give the abbreviated version and get the hell out here as fast as his feet would carry him.

“I’m listening and for your sake, you better make it worth my while.”

“The long and short of it, Sydney and I went to the hotel club last night. We went out to celebrate the New Year and ran into each other. It wasn’t planned, I promise you…we just happened to be at the same place at the same time.”

“Go on.” Jack encouraged him.

“ Sydney and I didn’t mean for it to happen but it did. True, we were a little drunk and you probably think it’s was a mistake, but we’ve talked about it this morning and although we still a little freaked out about the situation, we are willing to try to make it work. " Vaughn said as Jack didn't seem convinced.

"We care about each other and we want your blessing.” Vaughn said fidgeting with his hands in his pockets.

“My blessing. Are you out of your mind.” Jack stood up from his chair, came around his desk and stood in front of Vaughn.

“It would mean a lot to Sydney and I.” Vaughn begged

“You totally went behind my back about this. Especially after I told you how I felt about employees dating each other.” Jack said angrily.

“I know Jack, and for that I’m truly sorry but I love her.” Vaughn said with a slight smile on his face.

“And she loves you?” Jack asked as Vaughn raised his head to look at Jack.

“I don’t know. There are still a lot of issues to work out between us. Love being one of them but we really want our marriage to have a chance.”

Jack’s face turned white. He staggered. “YOU TWO ARE MARRIED?”

“Sydney and I got married last night, “Vaughn repeated, and then took a cautionary step back.

“I thought you knew.” Vaughn said, completely in shock.

“No! I did not know.” Jack thundered.

“It seemed like you knew, “Vaughn said, his voice full of concern for Jack.

“I didn’t know!” Jack said, seemingly regaining his strength to fight this nightmare.

“ I thought you were dating…I had no idea…this is worse than I thought.” Jack said as he collapses on the couch, grabbing his face between his hands.

“How did this happen?”

“Sydney actually proposed to me.” Vaughn said as Jack took his hands off his face to look at him.

“That doesn’t make one whit of sense.”

Remembering the exact moment and the circumstances, Vaughn grimaced.

“It made sense at the time.”

“No, it doesn’t, Vaughn! For God sake! It’s hard enough to make a marriage work when the people enter the marriage willingly, but for what I understand, you two didn’t enter this marriage with all your faculties intact. The best thing for you to do would be to ask Sydney for an annulment.”

“That’s for me and Sydney to decide.” Vaughn replied defensively.

“I know my daughter and I’m sure that when she has time to think things through, she will realized that this marriage was a mistake and ask for the annulment herself.”

“We’ll see, Jack. We’ll see.” Vaughn said as he stormed out of Jack’s office.

Here's a little scoop: In the next chapter, Sydney and Vaughn go on their first date and you'll see flashbacks on how it all started. Also Sydney is starting to remember what happened that night. Will they fall in love or will Jack's plan for an annulement become a reality?

Yay!!! an update!!!! I think Jack over reacted telling Vaughn to ask for an annulment...

Awesome chapter. Can't wait for more.

°°NiCkY°°

Awwwwwww. But Danny is evil for telling Jack about the party. And well... Vaughn is still in one peace so that's good. He survived the first round :P Update soon!
And thanks for the pm.

Uh oh now Jack knows. I really want to see Sydney talking to her mother about this. :P

Can't wait to read where this is going. Fantastic chapter! :D

Sweeet... An update, that was awesome... Leave it to Jack to over react like that... Although the situation isn't the best, they are both adults, knowing Sydney, if Jack tells her to get an annulment, it would probably make her not want one, just to p*** him off!!! :D And as for danny, he needs to be punched in the face for instigating(sp) this whole thing

“I could go with you. I’m sure if he sees that we’re totally committed to make this marriage work, he might actually give us his blessing.” He said hesitantly as she reached for her hand as she smiled at the fact that he was so concern about her well-being.
ha. he's SO naive.

“I didn’t know that Vaughn was dating your daughter, Mr. Bristow.” Danny said smiling as Jerry gave him a shove in the ribs to be quiet.
