Chapter 21
After a solid few minutes of kissing, they broke and across Sydney’s face bloomed the largest, most beautiful smile Michael had ever seen. Sydney wiped a few tears from the corners of her eyes and then buried her face back down into Michael’s chest. “You okay, Syd?” he asked quietly.
She giggled softly and nodded. “Yeah, I’m okay. I’m happy.”
“Me too,” he told her. She lifted her head and kissed him softly once more. “So, how about you change into your pj’s and I change into my pj’s and we cuddle on the couch all night?”
“Perfect,” she smiled. “Assuming my sister will unlock the door…,” she said a little louder.
A moment later, the door locked clicked open and Nadia pushed the door open, visibly sobbing into a tissue. “You’re just so damn cute,” she sobbed. Sydney and Michael couldn’t help but laugh. Sydney slid out of Michael’s arms and went to walk over to the bedroom, only to be enveloped in a tackle hug by her sister. She stumbled backwards and nearly fell. “You’re so stubborn!! You could have done this months ago! Then I could have done more extra credit instead of trying to figure out ways to force you to kiss already!”
“Okay, okay,” Sydney laughed. “I’m sorry that my love life was so traumatic to you.”
“IT WAS!” Nadia sobbed. Sydney looked at Michael and rolled her eyes. Finally Nadia let go and composed herself. “I’m done now… but I’m so happy for you guys!” she exclaimed as she threw herself at Michael and hugged him too.
“She’s almost more excited than we are,” Michael laughed.
“I AM!” Nadia exclaimed. “It’s going to be so exciting!! There are going to be weddings and babies and-”
“NA-DI-A!” Sydney exclaimed in a horrified tone. “Would you get ahold of yourself and be normal, honestly,” she sighed exasperatedly as Michael laughed.
Nadia released Michael from her death grip and asked innocently, “What?”
“Get over here,” Sydney groaned as she roughly grabbed her sister’s arm and yanked her into their bedroom while she complained. “Would you quit it!” Sydney hissed once the door was shut.
“What?” Nadia asked.
“You’re like picking out wedding china and I just kissed him for the first time five minutes ago!” she exclaimed as quietly as possible so that Michael couldn’t hear her.
“So? It’s so obvious you guy are-”
“Stop!” Sydney snapped as she clapped her hand over her sister’s mouth. “Do you know how hard it is for me to do this, Nadia?! Do you know!? Just please don’t. I need some time to…”
“Alright, alright,” Nadia mumbled through her sister’s hand while rolling her eyes slightly.
“Thank you,” Sydney sighed and removed her hand. After she changed, she left her room and found Michael in the sitting area blowing out some of the candles. “Hi,” she said quietly.
He looked up at her and grinned. “Did you kill your sister?”
Sydney laughed softly. “No, she’ll live another day.”
“Good,” he smiled. “You know what’s kinda funny about supreme romantic gestures?”
“You gotta clean up the petals?” she smiled back at him.
“Yes,” he laughed.
She walked over and hugged him around the waist. “Thank you so much for this. It was wonderful; I loved it.”
“No problem,” he sighed and kissed the top of her head.
She looked up at him and smiled. “I’ll help you clean it up, but I want to take a picture first,” she told him with a small giggle.
“Don’t bother; Nadia took about a hundred,” Michael told her seriously.
“She didn’t!”
“Of course she did,” he laughed. “But you don’t have to help.”
“I want to though… oh! Do you have like a little basket or something, because we could totally use these as potpourri?” she told him.
He laughed. “Okay Martha Stewart.”
She blushed slightly. “I was just sayin’…”
“I know, it was cute,” he grinned at her. Michael managed to find a basket but only half of the rose petals from the floor fit in it, so they just used a regular bowl for the rest of them. As they were crawling around the floor trying to pick up every last petal so they wouldn’t stain the carpet, Michael began to toss a few petals at Sydney. A full out rose petal fight ensued, which wasn’t all that exciting because the petals didn’t fly very far when thrown, but they enjoyed it. In the end, Michael gently tackled Sydney down into a pile of petals and kissed her, which she found to be one of the most romantic moments of her life up to that point, but suspected that with Michael as a boyfriend, there were many more to come.
After the petals were cleaned up, the two of them retreated to the couch and Michael pulled Sydney into his lap, wrapped his arms around her and held her tightly as they watched TV and talked softly about everything and nothing.
“Ohh, I’m sleepy and I have to work in the morning,” Sydney yawned a little after ten p.m.
“Nope, can’t leave,” Michael told her as he held her tighter.
“Michael,” she laughed, trying to shove his arms apart so she could get out of his grasp.
“No, come on, spend the night with me, please?” he smiled at her.
“Okay,” she agreed immediately. Michael laughed at how easy that had been. “What?” she asked him.
“Oh nothing… I just thought I was really going to have to twist your arm into it,” he smiled.
“Nope,” she grinned. “Not this time.”
The two of them got up from the couch, went into his bedroom and snuggled down beneath the covers, all the while Michael’s arms only left her waist for a moment. “I love you, Syd,” he whispered into her ear once they were settled beneath the blankets.
“I love you too,” she whispered back.

In the morning, Sydney awoke just in time to see the clock flip from 5:59 to 6:00, meaning that she had to get up or she’d be late to work. Carefully, she pealed back Michael’s arms that were latched around her, and tried to slide out without waking him, but he grunted. “I have to work; I’ll be back later,” she whispered before kissing his forehead as he grunted again.
Later that morning Michael dragged himself out of bed and shuffled to the kitchen to make coffee. There, he found Nadia positively beaming. “You’re cute,” he laughed at her.
“Of course I am,” she smiled. “I also have big plans.”
“Oh?” he asked with a yawn.
“Yeah for Christmas. We’re going to have the funnest Christmas ever!” she exclaimed.
“Funnest Christmas ever? Count me in,” he laughed. “What exactly did you have planned?”
“Ummm, making cookies… Christmas carols… getting up at five a.m. for presents!” she giggled.
“See, now you really are beginning to sound five and that’s kinda scary,” he told her.
“Okay… so I wasn’t serious about the five a.m. thing,” she told him.
“Very good… but the other stuff sounds great. I’ll try not to take too many new cases so I won’t be swamped… but for now I have to go to work,” he sighed.
“Court on a Saturday?” Nadia asked.
Michael shook his head. “Meeting with a client. Shouldn’t be too long,” he told her before walking off to his bedroom to change.

“Hey Nad, where’s Michael?” Sydney asked when she came home from work and found the apartment Michael-less.
“Meeting with a client; he should be back soon,” she told her.
“Ah,” Sydney nodded. “Hey Nadia… I just wanted to, um, thank you… for last night…,” she said rather quietly.
Nadia smiled at her sister. “No problem, Syd. I was just repaying you.”
“Repaying me?” Sydney asked.
Nadia nodded. “Syd, you sacrificed practically your whole life just to make sure I could go to MIT… it’s just a tiny way of repaying my humongous debt to you.”
Sydney laughed softly. “You don’t have to repay me, Nad.”
“Yeah, I do… course you could just give me an adorable little niece and… okay I’m done,” she sighed at the unamused look on her sister’s face.

They love each other! I'm so glad they shared the bed and I wonder what Vaughn his up to I bet it something really nice. And Syd should definitely thanks Nadia for this without her they still would not have kissed or even less shared a bed. Thanks for the PM and I can't wait for more.
That was so sweet!
But I have a fear that Michael is going to meet a crazy insane client that wants to hurt him. But that is just me guessing, hopefully I'm not right.
Great update, and thanks for the PM
