Season 2 Jack and Syd

OK I had this thought that Jack when he told Irina they were still married that it was valid untill anulled. Now I watch soap operas and Anullment meas a married couple never had sexual relations. So that would mean Jack and Irina never had sex which would mean that Syd isn't Jacks daughter. So when he said Anulled did he know who Syd's biological father was?

Anullement doesn't have anything to do with sexual relations. Besides, Jack and Irina were married for 10 years and never had sex? You're kidding right?

i don't think b/c they were annualed that it means they didn't have sex. i mean, we "saw" them having sex on that epi he planted the tracking device on her and they seemed very comfortable with each others bodies. i definatley think they had sex. how else would she have been able to fool him into thinking she was his wife? they were probably annauled b/c she didn't use her real name which basically makes their marriage invalid.

i think there is some suspicion as to whether jack is in fact sydney's biological father since irina and sloane had that very weird conversation on the airplane. it is entirely possible that sloane will end up being her father and that will make me absolutely sick to my stomach.

An annulment can be made on the basis that a couple did not have sexual relations.

However!

In as far as Irina and Jack go, we know that this is not the case! Jack states that he can have the marriage annuled on the basis of fraud because Irina misrepresented her identity. Until he has the marriage annulled, they are still technically married, as he stated (I suppose Irina could also have it annulled).

If they had not had sex, Jack would most certainly have known immediately, many, many years ago that something was severely wrong with the marriage and there would be no discussion of either Irina Derevko or Elsa Caplan having "prostituted" themselves. Jack thought that he was in a very happy, blissful marriage, which, pardon me, would most definitely not be the case if he weren't, well, "getting any" on a regular basis.
;)

I agree with VH. As far as Jack was concerned, it was a happy marriage...and maybe Irina was happy sometimes because she does mention this in Cipher, even though she now believes the illusion is over after seeing him again.

Yeah thats true but hey it was just a hunch. I dind't even like that fact cuz like I am all for Jack and Irina so yeah I just had that idea.

An annulment, i think, is a void of a marriage. It has nothing to do whether you have had sexual relationship or not. Some organizations, such as the catholic church, requires couples to get one for their divorce to be accepted. So an annulment has nothing to do with sexual relationships.

The lack of sexual relations is one of several possible bases for annulment. The possible bases depend on what organization (state, religious, etc.) you're dealing with as well.
