    According to Alias Media,
Phase One (2.13) and A Dark Turn (2.17) have been submitted for 2003 Emmy Consideration.

I'm glad they used those two, because obviously, "Phase One" had the most stellar acting by Jennifer Garner, and in "A Dark Turn", Lena Olin got to be both sweet and treacherous. But I sort of wish they'd submitted the finale, too. I guess the Emmy voters only have time to watch two. (If they even watch those, which sometimes I doubt, based on their voting.)

Its exciting to know which episodes they sent in for consideration ... hopefully, the impact it had on us, viewers and fans, would be the same for the voters ... ;)

Actually, I think the inclusion of "Phase One" was because it was easy for the uninitiated to comprehend--plus it's effective for showing off the work of the costumers, cinematographer and other behind the scenes people. While Ms Garner's acting was exceptional in that, I would have selected father/daughter heartbreakers "The Indicator" or "Salvation" instead for showing off the actors--and not just because they also showcase Mr Garber effectively--I think that Ms Garner was simply stunning in both of those.

However, it was very kind of them to submit "A Dark Turn," which shows off the skills of both Ms Olin and Mr Garber. If they're nominated, I'd suggest following up with "Dead Drop" for Mr Garber. Ms Olin is more difficult because her role has been so limited in many of the episodes. You might have to go with one of the "Passage"s.

I wonder, did they think that family-heavy "Passage" was too difficult to follow--or just that it's too awkward to send half of a two parter?
    ;)

    I actually haven't seen "Passage 1 or 2" ... hopefully, ABC will re-show those episode ...

I got a question though: isn't it the same clips they will use for consideration for the emmy's and if they get nominated, the same clips for the nominations and selections ??? Are they able to change those clips for other ones??? I always believe it would be the same ones all over ???

The way I understand it is that for acting nominations, if you are nominated, you are able to send in additional episodes, 2 for a lead actor and 1 for a supporting actor. I would love to know what they sent in last year (I expect Q&A is one of the ones sent in initially, because it had all those crew noms). I think for writing nominations, you must send in what you want to be judged on in the initial submission.
    ;)

I would guess the latter, because when viewed in its complete form, I don't think the storyline in Passage is incredibly hard to follow, even for the uninitiated. VG and LO did such an amazing job of playing out the tensions between them, I think even someone who didn't know their history could pick up on the basics. I wish the Emmy voters would get a chance to see that 2-parter; it was my favorite of the entire season, personally.

Perhaps if they get nominated, The Passage(s) could be sent in as secondary submissions.

Yes, her role was limited, but what she did with the limited scenes was terrific. I hope some of the later shows SD and TT would get some attention. Of course, I'm pretty sure there are a lot of people in the business are aware of Jennifer, Victor and Lena. Would love to see all three win Emmy's. It certainly would boost the viewers for next year.

Well, actually, they have plenty of time to watch MULTIPLE episodes! Some shows like 24 and The West Wing submitted 6 or 7!

im kind of disappointed that they sent in phase one, i did not like that episode at all except the ending of course! i actually think it was my least favorite episode!

but i am very pleased to see that a dark turn was sent in becuase that is one of my favorite episodes and it does display lena and victor wonderfullly!
and i agree with vh and others about the passages and slavation and indicator(my favorite episode!)
i would have liked to seen any of those submitted being that they all are excellent, not only in story and plot but in acting as well!
    GOOD LUCK TO ALIAS!

I think The Indicator should of been nominated rather than Phase One.... -_-

But in the Emmy world, you also have to see things through the Academy's eyes, not a dedicated fan's. Phase One was probably the smartest move--it got raves from several critics. The writing introduces non-viewers to the show (Kendall even makes reference to the "new recruits"). Many of us wanted the takedown of SD-6 to be much later, but to a new viewer, it would be a crowning achievement and a good twist, opening a new plot accessible to these new viewers. The Francie clone, though unrealistic, was a great surprise. The episode had great writing that will put it in the run for nominations. And the acting, too, was outstanding. Sydney and Dixon's emotions were running so high, you could feel their tears. This may be Carl Lumbly's best shot at a nod.

A Dark Turn was also a great choice, obviously aimed for Lena Olin. She really deserves a nomination, and this episode displays her talent best. Victor Garber was also great in this episode because viewers will take on a sort of "companionship" with him, and when the audience gets "betrayed by Irina," people will be able to feel with Jack. The characters really shine in this episode, specifically Jack and Irina, increasing VG's and LO's chances for a nomination (and Phase One for JG and CL).

well, i think that for the last golden globes, jg submitted the pilot as her clip. at the time, i thought it was the best one since it was my favorite episode and definitely showcased her acting in a great light. also, it was the pilot, so there was no way voters couldn't get into the show. ;)
