The doctor nodded. “Well, we thought that it might be a bullet at first, but after measuring your brainwaves and everything else, we’re sort of confused to say the least.” He said. “You see, whatever it is, it’s releasing pulses inside your head. It might be the cause of your headaches, and the reason for your anger and agitation.”
OMFG NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOThere was a man that came to me a year-and-a-half ago. Complaining of the same things you were. At that time I had no idea what was wrong with him; I put him on medication to stop the headaches. Three weeks later he killed his family in the middle of the night. When police arrived, he was sitting on the living room couch with a baseball hat in his hand. He went after the officers and they shot him on the spot.”
“Hi.” He said.
She didn’t say a word.
He looked down for a moment and sighed. “Syd…I’m sorry.” He told her. “I didn’t want this to end up like it did. I don’t want you to be mad at me.”
“I’m not mad at you.” She spoke. “I’m disappointed.”
He nodded. “Yeah, well, I just dropped by to tell you I have to go out of town for a few days.” He said.
“Why? Where?” She asked.
“I’m going to see another doctor.” He told her. “Just for a few days.” He promised.
“Did the one you went too today find anything?” She asked.
“Yes he did.” He told her. “I have to go see a specialist.”
“What did he find?” She asked.
“Something I can’t tell you about right now.” He told her. “I just came to…”
“Say good-bye. Say you’ll be back.” She said. “I know, you did this same exact thing three years ago, I waited years for you.”
“I’m coming back this time.” He said.
“I don’t care anymore.” She told him. “Do what the hell you want. You just told me as a courtesy, nothing I feel matters.” She told him. She started to walk past him when he took her arm and pulled her off to the side.
“I’m doing this for us. So don’t even try to make me feel like shi*, Sydney. It isn’t going to work.”
“If you were doing this for us then I’d know what was going on, but I don’t. You’re doing this for yourself, so have fun.” She told him as she pushed past him.
“This is how you want to leave things?” He asked. She kept walking. “What if I don’t come back? What if I really die this time?” He asked.
She stopped and turned around. “Then that’s your own fault. You made the decision to leave, and I tried to get you to open up to me. I lived without you once, I think I can do it again.” She said bitterly.
She walked away without looking back, leaving him in the hallway by himself. It was a lie, she was mad, and she let her mind speak it. She knew she’d end up calling him later, telling him that she loved him and that she was sorry, but for now she had to be mad.
By the time she calls him, it may be too late! She knew she’d end up calling him later, telling him that she loved him and that she was sorry, but for now she had to be mad.
