When Sydney is having the dream sequence in which she sees door 47, what does that mean, and where has it appeared before?

47 is a number that is used alot in Alias.... and I don't think there is a clear-cut answer as to why -- but it's fun to speculate....

Hey guys havent been her since May so be nice...and by chance,lol,it was at 10:47
But about 47 there should be many threads about it. It has been known to be quintessential random number of the universe as 47 society FAQ says. Originally the idea of 47 was compiled at Pomona College. "In the 1960's, Pomona College's Professor Donald Bentley completed a mathematical proof that stated that all numbers were equal, therefore all numbers were equal to 47." I truly believe this and once you begin to research 47 and its existence, it will be seen everywhere.
Haha i see it everyday just going through town and school. Looking or not , 47 still appears everywhere. I have put links at the bottom and goto the 47 society and check out the FAQ concering questions about Other Numbers/Looking too much/StarTrek connections.
From other thing i have read..and movie people i know the writers have a "thing" for 47 and is used often in films. I remember hain a whole list of 47 references per season 1&2 eppys but i cant find it in search, though i heard the site reforrmatted sometime back. But therewas another cool link here that Charlie and others compiled about 47,000 this and that deaths/sales/ all these statistics an example i remeber back the was like 147,000, results found on google for 47
