Chapter 2
“I need to work off all that food” Sydney panted as she and Michael both quickened their pace as they ran through the trail that was merely a 5 minute walk from Michael’s house.
“Like hell you do” Michael rolled his eyes as they ran, “You look amazing, always”
“Um…my wedding is in five days, and I need to be like…a size 2!” Sydney told him.
“And that will be difficult?” Michael laughed.
“Yes!” Sydney told him as they took a break, both of them taking time to drink some water.
“Uh huh” Michael rolled his eyes once more.
“Do something for me?” Sydney breathed.
“Sure” Michael nodded as the two sat on a park bench.
“I have my final dress fitting on Friday, will you come?” Sydney asked him.
“I don’t really have a choice…do I?” Michael smiled at her.
“It would really mean a lot to me if you came” Sydney replied.
“Then I will come” Michael nodded.
“Thank you” Sydney hugged him tightly.
“Syd” Michael pulled away with a smile, “You smell nasty”
“Oh, you are so mean” Sydney pouted.
“I know” Michael kissed her forehead gently, “I’m sorry, you smell beautiful”
“Thank you” Sydney smiled, “Now come on, I have like 20 minutes longer before we can actually stop”
“Ugggh, you work yourself too hard” Michael stood up.
“I need to look good” Sydney shrugged.
“New topic” Michael stated quickly, “What do you want me to get you?”
“I thought you got us the blender?” Sydney looked at him as they began to run again.
“I did, but I want to get you something, my best friend” Michael told her.
“Well, I do want a new pair of Uggs” Sydney grinned.
“You want me to buy you $300 shoes…for your wedding gift?” Michael laughed.
“Well, I can wear them while I get ready…shoe-gasm” Sydney told him.
“‘Shoe-gasm’?” Michael looked at her.
“It’s an orgasm…but in a shoe” Sydney told him, “Feels soooooo good”
“Alright, fine” Michael laughed.
“In pink?” Sydney smiled angelically.
“Demanding much?” Michael shook his head as they wound down the path.
“You love me for it” Sydney smiled, “Oh, Will…he said the cutest thing this morning”
“You talked to him this morning?” Michael glanced at her.
“Uh huh, while you were in the shower” Sydney told him.
“Oh” Michael did his best to keep the slight feeling of jealousy inside of him.
“Anyway, he was talking about the wedding and he was like ‘baby what would you do if I showed up in a powder-blue tux?’ and it was just soooo cute” Sydney laughed.
“How is that cute?” Michael asked her.
“It just is” Sydney giggled, “I mean, the way he does that cutesy baby voice”
“Can’t say I’ve ever noticed” Michael quickened his pace slightly.
“Oh, well it’s absolutely adorable” Sydney cooed.
“I got that” Michael exhaled as he glanced at his watch, “Oh, felgercarb, Syd sorry- I’ve gotta go meet Lauren”
“Huh?” Sydney stopped dead in her tracks, “I didn’t know you had to meet her”
“Oh, yeah…we’ve had this planned like forever” Michael told her, “Dinner with her parents, I’ll talk to you later”
“Oh…alright” Sydney swallowed a lump that had appeared in her throat, “I guess I’ll take a cab home”
“Great” Michael kissed her cheek, “I’ll see you Friday”
“Uh huh” Sydney nodded, sadness covering her face and becoming audible in her voice.
