I'm surprised we don't talk about Deadpool more often here. Besides being one of the few Marvel characters that is squarely aimed for an older audience the character is also known his irreverent attitude and habit of breaking the fourth wall to talk directly to comic readers.

In the movies Deadpool was previously seen in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and will be soon in his own title full-length movie. Like the other X-Men movies Deadpool is being put out by Fox even though it is a Marvel property. That's a bit of important distinction because Deadpool is a character meant for mature audiences and the movie carries that forward with lots of violence and language not seen heard in Marvel Universe movies.

Now, if you watch the trailer below, don't I say I didn't warn you about language. ;)

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

The second red band trailer has dropped. Remember, this is a red band trailer so language is not exactly family friendly.

Saw it this last weekend. It was very raunchy and hilarious. I'd get it on DVD. :)

I'll likely wait until it's on Netflix to watch it. It is not my wife's kind of movie at all and I work from home a couple of days each week so it'll be a movie for me to watch on one of those days.

What's interesting is that the success of Deadpool is leading to speculation that future Marvel movies may lean towards more mature audiences and now there's talk that the next Wolverine movie might be rated R as well.

Netflix streaming? That could take years :P

Anyway, its definitely not a movie you'd want to take kids to. Lol

Sadly, these days that might be the case. Lately Netflix is no longer getting recent movies as fast as they used to and seem to be pushing subscribers more towards their original programming. If this keeps up I may have to look around to see what else is out there. :(

Anyway, its definitely not a movie you'd want to take kids to. Lol
No kids so it'd be just me & the dog watching it; he doesn't mind the violence & language.

Getting a TS copy right now. Its watchable but I may wait for a dvd quality before actually screening it.
I never get too hyped up about superhero movies. Just not my thang...

I was kinda disappointed. It tried to be 'cool' but came off as rude and crude to me.
Were you familiar with the comics history of the character before watching the movie? The whole thing with the snarky comments and breaking of the 4th wall is what the character is known for.

No, I stopped reading and following comic books when my mother threw away my collection in the 60s. I watch these movies now but don't really follow or study the storylines. They all seem shallow to me. Cool images tho.
It is all just entertainment and I don't appreciate low brow insulting humor. But then, I also think those adult cartoons are insultingly rude as well. I'm just glad I didn't pay real money to see this junk.
