Did Dr. John Carter quit?

I hope he didn't quit. I'll be sad if he did. John Carter is my favorite character in ER.

Noah Wyle is signed on through next season, so I highly doubt he left. I'm not quite sure what that box of stuff he was carrying in that last scene of his with Abby was though.

If Carter quit, it would have been a much bigger deal.
