General/Other Help

If you have something that doesn't really have another thread for, or it's just some general help, post it here. Maybe you have an art class or elective or something, & you have a question about that.

----

Anyways, I have a homework question. In one of my classes, we're writing an essay on a 'first' that we had. Possible ideas included the first time we:
ditched
broke a bone
took a trip to another country
went to a concert
went on a date
went to a new school
slept over/stayed at someone else's house alone
got suspended
got into a fight
moved
rode in an airplane
were on stage
went on a camping trip
dated someone
had our first kiss
went on a field trip
went to a funeral
drove a car
had a pet

Most of those aren't going to work for me for one reason or another. The 'first' has to be something I can write about in detail, for about 2-4 pages double spaced. I've been trying to think of something interesting & a bit original, but can't really come up with anything I could write more than a few sentences about. Maybe you all can help? Please? Pretty please? :D

Oh, but there's 3 things we cannot write about. They are, the first time we took drugs, had sex, got our period. Yeahh..anything else we can write on.

All ideas are appreciated. This is needed ASAP by the way, since we're working on our idea tommorrow (12.07.04) in class. But, I guess I could always change my topic. Thanks!!

-conquered a fear
-got a job
-stayed home alone
-first piercing

Can I get help explaining this quote and suggesting some reforms that could help solve the problem posed?

"The hardest things about any politcal campaign is how to win without proving that you are unworthy of winning." - Adlai Stevenson

Thanks in advance!

Uhhh... It's because there is no such thing as the perfect idea. Everyone has a different opinions on the same situation, different perception. So there is no way to prove to everyone that you are completely worthy to win.

uhh.. BAAAA

-mandy :angelic:

I guess it could also be talking about dirty politics. You have to be willing to play dirty if you want to win. There's backstabbing, lying, flip-flopping, etc...

Whoa haha, sorry I was taking a break from studying and that quote kept making me think it was a double negative. Well it kind of is... "Tries to summarize*

The hardest thing about winning is not showing everyone why you shouldn't win?

Hmm that probably didn't help. But I agree! Everyone has flaws, and not showing the true nature is hard. And once everyone finds out about the flaws, it's hard to win back their trust?

And for reforms... maybe those group meetings where everyone shares a certain flaw?

Mmhmm I'm confused now myself!

i think it means like in polotics if you want to have any hope of winning and showing people what a good, moral, leading person you are you have to play dirty and do the things your trying to show people your not

I have this project on a book called Someone is Hiding On Alcatraz Island. It's about a boy who is running away from a gang and gets stuck with them on the island for one night. The gang is called the Outlaws. I need to present the report in a "creative" manner that can tell you about the book just from looking at the cover. My idea is to use a cowboy hat since they are called the Outlaws. Any other ideas? I have to do the project tomorrow so any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the help guys. I hit the gray area. I was close to the correct answer but didn't hit the target dead-on. ^_^

well i have questions for my mocks and the ones i need help with are:
1. Why are sections and products made in different factories?
2. What are the advantages and disadvantages of buying products in different retail outlets, e.g. Designer, high street and mail order?

and ive done the rest.... ill be reely greatful  xx

Well, I think the 1st question is kinda like in food tech why standar components are made in different places.

One reason could be that it means that the factories can concentrate on specialising on one thing, and so make a better quality product.

-Mail order and high street would be cheaper than designer stores.

-Designer stores may have better quality goods.

-With mail order, you may not get the product you think you are going to get.

-You have to pay postage with mail order.

-Mail order is cheaper because they don't have to pay for nice looking premises

-There is a larger range of profucts in mail order, because they can afford more storage.

-Designer clothes may be of a better fit.

-You can try things on in high street and designer stores.

I hope something helps. (y)
