Even though Kelly should try to move on from the AI scene to prove herself an independent star (although she has already done that, but there are some others who need to be turned :lol:smiley:, it's exciting news because I'm a fan of both Kelly and Clay. I hope I get to see them in concert! :D

but wasn't Clay the first runner-up and not the winner of AI2???

so, why would he be with Kelly if Ruben won???

anyway ... they will be in Miami, FL on my B-day ... Feb. 28th ... :woot:

but as I am in Aruba ... I can't go ... ;)

Clay is more successful than Ruben even though he won..
I'm so excited about this still. I can't bring up the nerve to ask my parents if I can go though.

Press Release

Kelly Clarkson and Clay Aiken - Double Platinum Stars to Co-Headline 30 Dates Nationwide
Friday January 16, 5:13 pm ET

NEW YORK, Jan. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Kelly Clarkson and Clay Aiken, two of 2003's best selling new artists, are joining forces for their first major nationwide headlining tour set to kick off in Charlotte, NC. Called the "Independent" tour, the two RCA Music Group stars will perform in 30 cities. In keeping with their status as two of America's most talented young entertainers, Clarkson and Aiken will be alternating as headliners on the tour for which tickets go on sale January 24.
Says Clarkson, who is nominated for a "Best Female Pop Vocal" Grammy this year, "I'm really pumped about touring with Clay and can't wait to get out and see all the fans." Adds Aiken, "Kelly and I are thrilled about sharing a stage for this momentous next step in both of our careers."

Both artists enjoyed phenomenal success in 2003. Spurred on by sales "A Moment Like This/Before Your Love" which earned her a Billboard Music Award for Best Selling single of 2002 and the runaway smash "Miss Independent," Kelly's RCA/19 Entertainment debut album "Thankful" entered The Billboard Top 200 album chart at number 1 last April. Clay's RCA/19 Entertainment debut "Measure Of A Man," spurred on by the success of 2003's biggest selling single "This Is The Night," achieved the same milestone by entering the Billboard Top 200 album chart at number 1 upon it's release in late October.

Raleigh, NC native Aiken, who won the Fan Choice Award at this year's American Music Awards and a Billboard Music Award for Best Selling Single of 2003, was named one of People Magazine's "Sexiest Men" and "Top Entertainers Of The Year." He has earned cover stories in Rolling Stone (who named him one of the magazine's People Of The Year), Entertainment Weekly (who picked Clay as one of the twenty-five "Entertainers Of The Year") and TV Guide (whose readers voted him Favorite Reality Star of 2003). Clay has also been featured in Time Magazine, Elle Magazine, Teen People, and Newsweek.

Burleson, TX born Clarkson has graced the cover of such magazines as Marie Claire, TV Guide, Entertainment Weekly, US Weekly, YM, and Seventeen. Cosmopolitan Magazine named her one of their "Fun, Fearless Females of 2003" while People magazine named her one of their "25 Most Intriguing People." Clarkson, whose current single is "The Trouble With Love Is" (featured in the hit movie "Love Actually") had her first DVD "Miss Independent" released by RCA/19 Entertainment in November of 2003. The intimate behind the scenes DVD includes never before seen live tour and TV performances and the complete collection of her videos ("A Moment Like This," "Before Your Love," "Miss Independent," and "Low").

Both Aiken and Clarkson have had several major US television appearances including "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "Late Night with David Letterman," "Oprah Winfrey," "Good Morning America," "Live with Regis and Kelly," and "The View." Both "Measure of A Man" and "Thankful" have sold over two million copies each in the US alone, and each album has garnered major critical acclaim and rave reviews throughout the world. Due to their massive, loyal fan bases, the joint nationwide "Independent" tour promises to be one of 2004's most anticipated musical events.

i heard on the radio here in tampa that right after they announced the two of them were going to be touring together, they released some kinda press thingy that absolutely bans people from promoting this as an "American Idol" tour. supposedly, they don't want AI to be mentioned at all when radio stations are talking about the show.

if that's true, i think it's crazy.

i mean, i understand that they might want to pull themselves away from american idol, but if it wasn't for that show they wouldn't be anything. why can't someone at least mention it? i just think they're publicists are being wierd about the whole thing.

I doubt it's true. Although it's not an American Idol tour, it's obviously because of American Idol that they are having the tour. And with their greedy managers, I'd expect that they want American Idol to be associated with it so that they could fill their pockets with even more money.

If it is true, I still understand why they'd want to prevent the tour being associated with AI, too. Kelly and Clay need to establish themselves as independent artists. While they are both hugely successful because of talent and not just hype, they are still going to be remembered as part of AI.

Now for the ranting.

GAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! My parents won't let me go to the concert!!! I'm so mad! Grrr... If I could, I'd buy the tickets anyway and just go. But since I can't, I'm hoping humger strikes and not doing homework will make them change their minds! (I know, sounds crazy, but it's a long story :lol:smiley:

I dont know about Kelly but Clay wasn't going to do this at all.
One of his students (Mike) mom waned him to try out because he could really sing.He wasn't goign to do it evan tho she told him to but she kpet bugging him so he tryed out an got in. He had a life before this he was a teacher and he went to college.I'm acually suprised he gave up teaching the children for AI. But I think hes got the talent and could make a lot of money for his foundation and for him and the family he hopes to have. ^_^ Hes a very talented person. I dont kno a lot about kelly cuz I'm not obsessed with her like i am clay. So maybe someone who is can give us the stor on her? If uwant more info i'm here and other sorces
