    From TheFutonCritic.com:

Futon regular AONGUS B. writes: What about moving "Alias" up against, gulp, "Law & Order?" I'll admit that this could kill the show, but "Alias" is a marginal performer where it is now and there's a logic for why the show could succeed there. On Wednesday, it would take advantage of a bigger and somewhat more compatible lead-in with "The Bachelor," and at least the show would only have "Law & Order" competing with it for those older viewers, instead of "Law & Order: C.I." competing with it for older viewers, FOX and the WB siphoning off the younger viewers and HBO going directly at it. In this scenario, "The Practice" could go back to Sundays, but perhaps at 9pm to serve as a lead-in to either Dragnet or a new drama.

That's actually a solid idea. "Alias," as it is right now, is probably at best going to repeat its current numbers next season if it stays in the Sunday, 9:00/8:00c slot. So the question becomes is what it's doing right now good enough for ABC? Both "Dragnet" and "The Practice" continually built on "Alias'" audience while the drama itself only built on its "WWoD" lead-in by 6% on average. But as "The Practice" has seen, a move is not always a good thing and ABC may be willing to stick with the status quo for right now. I wouldn't be surprised if Aongus is right come May though.

NOTE: This would mean moving it to Wednesdays 10/9c in the US.
NOTE: This is just pure speculation on what MIGHT work. This is NOT official and we won't know what's really going on until around May.

I don't know actually. I mean I like it being on sundays but it always present sthe dilema of "god I want it to be sunday night but sunday night is the absolutely LAST bit of weekend" so I guess it's good on sundays. I just hink they should put it on all the time. :D

I don't think moving it to wednesday will help that much witht the ratings, but i know that Sunday at 9pm on ABC, and 8PM on CTV is not such a good time either. I would like to have alias moved, but I don't want it to be a Wednesday cuz the LEafs play a lot of games on Wednesdays, and they can't move it to Saturday cuz of Hockey Night In Canada. I think if they advertise more, it will help our beloved show so much. I only found out about Alias becuase of my neighbour, so that tells you that it is not a widely known show.

    Wednesdays Winners:
American Idol (Fox), Bernie Mac ( news) (Fox), Law & Order R (NBC)

    Honorable Mention:
Dateline (NBC), The Bachelor (ABC), 60 Minutes II (CBS), Wanda at Large (Fox

They want to move it to Wednesday night, just because of "The Bachelor" ... the first edition were more impressive ratings-wise then this one ... and with Fox having American Idol ... they are sure bringing it back next season, putting "Alias" after "The Bachelor" would kill the show.

If they really want "Alias" to be the show everybody watches, they should promote the show ... the way they promote "the bachelor" ... in newspapers, in magazine and all that.

    Do a better job there!

    Keep it on Sundays!

Nooooo I love it on Sundays!!! I totally agree Alias Gay that they should try to promote the show more, rather than move it to another date and time!!

I would much rather have it on a Sunday than another night. I do wish they'd promote the show more than they are now. But we'll see what happens and if it moves, then I'll go where ever it goes.

On the one hand, there is less competition at the 10 E hour with only 3 broadcast nets programming that hour (Fox, WB, UPN leave that open). And L&O has really been lapsing in quality, so it's ripe for the picking, IMHO (as a viewer). On the other, the existing fans know where to find Alias--of course they are extremely loyal and likely to follow it anywhere . . . (as long as ABC doesn't get flaky and start moving it around every other week or promising to air it and preempting it without notice a la Miracles)
    ;)

The one problem with ABC is that, if they move it to a different day and time, and ratings are either the same or worse, they would cancell the show in a heartbeat ... and thats what we don't want!

The show NEEDS moving! Sunday is a good night for somethings, however every fall Alias has to do battle with the Soprano's AND next year is the final year for the Soprano's. There will be a large "share" going to HBO. The fall is big ad money, guys. The suits at ABC are just trying to figure out how to maximize viewing potential for Alias. Wednesday is a risky night and Law and Order has been a proven performer for a long time. The official word from ABC a few weeks ago was that next year they were going to "bump it up a notch" not only in time slot but in $$$ spent on the show. Bigger budget, better time slot.....about time. The last thing to remember ABC runs 4th in the race for top network, so they are about as sharp as a bubble when it comes to competitive programming. Remember all their fubar promo mistakes this year regarding Alias. If the show wasn't as well written and acted as it is, ABC would have killed it with "kindness" promo screw ups.

On Sunday, although The Wonderful World of Disney and Alias will return next season, not all agency executives are convinced both shows should stay there. "I would definitely consider moving these shows to other nights," said Mediaedge's Schwartz. "As much as the critics love Alias, few people watch it, and neither show is attracting much of an audience on Sunday. If ABC can fix the 7-9 p.m. block, 9-11 p.m. could be a launching pad for new dramas. As it stands now, Alias is not much of a lead-in."
