I'm inclined to agree with you, it seems pretty genuine (and there are enough idiots like that out there). I just find it kinda strange that someone would falsely claim credit for something like this- I mean, what would be the point? On the other hand, people do get a kick out of making something up that looks real and passing it around the net.
