I saw the trailer for "The Hobbit" which, is supposed to come out in 2006 if all goes well. It's the story of Bilbo and Gandalf, when Bilbo first go the ring. Might be cool

The trailer isn't real sadly. It is fake, though I must admit it looks quite real and really good. There is a huge fued going on between Miramax and New Line Cinemas, New Line has rights to the book and production, but Miramax has rights to distribution, etc. They can't start filming until this problem is cleared up. However, when it is cleared up, Peter Jackson will direct and he already has Ian McKellan's agreement to be Gandalf.

You guys are getting ahead of yourselves. AFAIK it's not a done deal with The Hobbit yet, so lets just see what happens first.

Discord is right, I'm sure the Hobbit will be made but not for a long time. Personally I feel since Miramax turned PJ away the first time around that they have no right to do the Hobbit when it was New Line that was willing to take the risk of making a trilogy simutaneously. I have only heard of Ian McKellan agreeing to do Gandalf, Joyie.
