Sydney's Fire

I just wrote this fanfic b/c I like to write and I wanted to test the waters and see if I could write one. I hope I've written a decent one for everyone's enjoyment. I hope you'll all give me some feedback.

I'll post part of it now and once I get some feedback, I'll post the rest in separate posts. I'm sorry if it seems long, I'm a detailed person. I just wrote it with my own story line and there are some smiliarities to the show though.

Thanks everyone.

Sydney’s Fire

It had been an exhausting mission over in France rescuing Vaughn’s CIA commanding officer. Sydney was on the plane back home to Francie and Will and was glad to be going home. She was just relaxing after seeing so much gunfire, which just rocked her brain from all of the noise. On the plane home, she reflected on how happy Vaughn was after witnessing her rescue his commanding officer. That thought made her smile. They still hadn’t yet talked about their feelings for each other, but they knew there was something there.

Once she returned home, it was 4am and she was checking around the house to make sure nothing was disturbed and nothing was. She walked past Will and Francie’s rooms and saw that they were sound asleep. She walked into her room and collapsed onto her bed and fell asleep quickly. Not another thought went through her mind.

It was mid-morning and Will had walked into Sydney’s room and saw that she was there and stood beside her bed when her phone rang. Sydney didn’t awake to it, but Will chose to leave it alone since Sydney couldn’t answer it and say, “good guys or bad guys.” Francie soon joined Will in the room and saw Sydney sleeping and said, “We should let her sleep until she wakes up. She’s probably exhausted from her banking trip to France.”

Sydney awoke to the sound of Francie’s car coming back from the grocery store when she’d gone to buy some things for dinner. She checked her phone and saw that she missed a call. It was her father calling her and when she called him back, he told her she needed to get down to SD-6 as soon as she could. He had told her that two vials of hydrogen cyanide had been stolen. The hydrogen cyanide would be used as a main ingredient in a chemical weapon SD-6 was seeking.

“How serious is it?” Sydney asked nervously.
Jack replied, “Very serious. We don’t know when, but if SD-6 gets a hand on the cyanide, they will use it against the American people overseas and claim that a radical terrorist group made the attack. The American government will go after the group and not SD-6 specifically.”
“That is really serious. Another reason why I’m so determined to bring down SD-6.” Sydney answered back calmly, but determined.
“Meet me in a half an hour and we’ll discuss the mission and counter mission.”
“Alright, I’ll be there,” Sydney said as she hung up the phone.

“Hey Syd,” Francie said greedily as she walked back and fourth from the counter to the refrigerator putting groceries away. Will then came in and saw Sydney and poured her a glass of water. “Thanks Will,” she answered.
“How was your trip?” asked Francie.
“It went pretty well. It was quite exhausting though. All that running back and fourth between meetings tired me out. I’m glad to be home, but I can’t stay for too long.”
“Why?” asked Will and Francie at the same time.
“Oh, the bank wants me to go check up on these bounced checks that some people used to buy computers.”
“Boy, they sure don’t let you stay home for long, Syd,” said Will.
“Yeah, I know, but it’s part of my job and I have to do it if I wanna move up and get promoted.”
Francie sighed, “We’ll sure miss having you home—again. How long will you be gone?”
“Oh, probably not too long. Shouldn’t be too bad, just have to check some paper trails and stuff like that,” Sydney wryly smiled as she answered.
“Guess you should be going then,” Will replied.
“Yeah, I’ll catch something to eat on the way down to the office. I’ll see you guys later.”
“Bye Syd, take care.”

It was now 10pm and Sydney met up with Vaughn and Jack to talk about the mission in Germany.
“Tell me about my missions,” she insisted to Vaughn who was happy to see her again.
“Well, what we have planned is for you to go to the lap in Munich, Germany. Your cover will be as a scientist who is going to be testing the hydrogen cyanide to be sure it is what it is.”
“Sounds simple enough,” responded Sydney as she listened to Vaughn.
Jack cut in, “That’s not all of it,” and continued informing Sydney. “You will have to knock out the people inside, there should be about 4 or 5 people inside the lab, with a sedative dart gun, Marshall of course has specially made it for you. Then, you’ll grab the two vials of hydrogen cyanide and get out as quick as you can. Dixon, of course, will be waiting for you and he’ll expect you to have the two vials. We have made watered down hydrogen cyanide that you’ll give to him to give to SD-6 and the CIA will get the real vials.”
“When do I leave?”
“In ten minutes. The plane is ready to go,” said Vaughn.

Jack walked out of the room and left Sydney and Vaughn to themselves. They just stared at each other, both knowing there was tension in the room. They even managed to smile at each other and said “goodbye” to another as Sydney walked out of the room for the plane.

Continuing Sydney's Fire:

MUNCH, GERMANY

Sydney donned her lab coat and put her hair back into a ponytail. She made sure she had the gun that Marshall had prepared with the heavy sedative and the “notes” she would be making. It was a pretty well secured place and Sydney made note of everything she saw.

“Good luck, I’ll be waiting outside in the car by the woods for you to transport you back,” Dixon told Sydney.
“Thanks,” Sydney replied.

She keyed in the number “41274” into the door’s keypad and swiped her security card to gain access to the lab. She memorized the number that Marshall told her when he hacked into the lab’s computers. Once inside she surveyed the room and looked for the vials, but there were more guards than anticipated. There were two more guards than the expected number of five. Marshall had only loaded five darts into her gun. “I’ve got a problem,” Sydney murmured through her mind.

“Boom, boom, boom, boom and boom,” five of the seven scientists were knocked out just outside the lab doors. She then saw the other two inside the lab and she was out of darts. She had to use her hand-to-hand combat skills now. She came running full speed at one of the scientists and knocked him out before he knew what hit him. The last scientist had a gun and aimed it toward Sydney. The two of them started at each other for a few seconds and Sydney raised her hands as if to say, “I surrender.”

The scientist walked toward her cautious, but was falling for her trick. Apparently, he’d never been trained at this and fell for her trick. Sydney took the gun and quickly hit him over the head and knocked him out cold. She didn’t want to kill him because that’d ruin her cover. But a guard was patrolling the halls and heard a noise.

Sydney put on gloves and took the vials and put them in a protective case, along with the watered down vials and walked out as briskly as she could. The guard had encountered her and began running after her when he saw her in view. Sydney was already on the run knowing she was being chased. He fired his guns at her, but luckily she escaped all harm. The doors to the lab closed as Sydney ran out of the building. The doors had closed just in time, as the guards were now trapped inside and couldn’t get the door opened quickly enough. She called to Dixon, “Are you ready?”
“Yes, completely.”
“Good, because I am coming directly for you now. I ran into some unexpected guards and they’re stuck behind the doors.”
“Did you get the vials?” questioned Dixon.
“Yes, and they are safe,” Sydney said as she was nearly out of breath.

Finally, she made it to Dixon’s car and they took off for the airport home to get out of Germany. The guards never knew where she went and gave up, but knew they had a hydrogen cyanide heist to deal with.

Back home in Los Angeles, the watered down vials were given to SD-6. Sloane trusted Sydney bringing him the real vials and chose not to have them tested. The watered down hydrogen cyanide would knock out people for a while, but not kill them. Sloane congratulated Sydney on another fine mission and she walked out of his office and went to see Vaughn at the safehouse.

“Hey Vaughn.”
“Hey Syd.”
“I’m glad to see you home safely. You did good.”
“Thanks Vaughn,” Sydney said smiling.
“I’m always proud of you,” smiled back Vaughn.
“So, now we wait for the next one.”
“Yeah, whenever that may be,” answered back Vaughn.
“I’m just glad to home, glad to be home.”
“Well, I’ll see you later,” Vaughn said as he moved closer to Sydney.
“Yeah, I know I’ll see you again soon,” Sydney said as she and Vaughn embraced in a hug.

On their ways home, both Sydney and Vaughn thought about what had just transpired. They knew their true feelings for one another was classified because of their work. Just like every mission is one step closer to the defeat of SD-6, they’re one step closer to no more protocol.

“Vladimir, we’ve got a reported heist of hydrogen cyanide,” said one of his top aides.
“How much did they take?”
“Two vials.”
“Do we know who did it?”
“We have intel that says it is a rogue group called SD-6. They are Americans and they work completely shrouded in secrecy.”
“I’ve heard of them before. Let’s go after them,” Constantinov insisted.
“They’re probably already on the lookout for you. Use caution.”

LO ANGELES-SD-6 HQ

Sydney walked through the doors of Sloane’s office and he smiled when he saw her coming in.

“Welcome back Sydney.”
“Thanks.”
“I’ve heard reports that there’s this man named Vladimir Constatinov and he is the head of his own operation. I want him killed.”
“Why?”
“Because he works on his own terms and he knows we’re out here. I want him killed before he gets too close and I have a fear of him exposing us.”
“Well, who will go and when?”
“You…and your father.”
“I hope he won’t be too overprotective of me. Have you already told him?
“Yes, you leave in two days for his HQ in Moscow, Russia at 1400 hours and it’s simple. You look for him and you kill him. But there is one catch.”
“What’s that?”
“I want his assassination taped.”
“Why taped? Don’t you trust me?”
“Oh of course I trust you Sydney. I’d just like to watch it happen.”
“Alright then. Is that all?”
“Yes, that’s all.”

Sydney walked out of Sloane’s office confused about why he’d want it taped, but she figured that’s just him. She was so tired and was wondering when Vaughn would call her. She decided she’d had enough spying and went home to go hangout with Will and Francie.

“Hey, look who’s here. It’s Miss Bank Trips,” said Will with a smile.
“Welcome home, Syd.”
“Thanks you guys. I can stay home for a few days. The bank gave me a break before I have to go back to work.”
“Well that’s good. What’re you gonna do?” asked Will.
“I figured I’d hangout with you two for a while. What’s been going on here?”
They both answered with a “not much, just the usual stuff. We’ve been wondering how you were doing.”
“Well, I’m glad to be back here.”
“Us too.”

There was a knock at the door and Francie went to answer it and saw that it was Jack.

“Hey Jack.”
“Hi, is Sydney here?”
“Yeah, she’s here. Let me get her for you, she’s in her room taking a nap. Will and I were just about to head out to get some dinner, so we won’t bother you two.”
“Ok, thanks.”
“Funny how she’s taking a nap. She was so hyper back when she was a kid. She hardly took naps,” Jack said with a little smile.
“That is pretty funny.”
Francie walked back in Sydney’s room and woke her up and Jack waited for her to come into the kitchen. Francie and Will walked out the door and drove away to the store.

“Hey Dad.”
“Hey Sydney.”
“Did you hear about the mission we’re going on?”
“Yeah, but I couldn’t think of anyone better to do it. I’m proud of you.”
“Thanks Dad.”
“So, that all you came over to tell me?”
“Yeah, that was all. And…”
“And what?”
“I’m just curious about these two guys I’ve seen you hanging around with. Do you like one of them?”
Sydney feels shy, but cracks a smile and asks, “You mean Brian and Michael Vaughn?”
“Yeah, that’s them.”
“Well, I like Brian a lot, but I’ve seen him around Amanda, which is cool with me because Vaughn is who I really like and want. But I consider Brian and Vaughn really good friends. You’re not gonna tell on me are you?”
“No, I wasn’t going to. Just be careful if you get involved. I’m happy for you Sydney.”
“Thanks again, Dad. Oh, how’s Mom doing?”
“She’s doing good, just in her cell. We really don’t need her for this mission, but she’s doing well. We have the intricate intel we need to get to Constatinov. Well, I’ll see you tomorrow at the safehouse for your counter mission. Bye Sydney.”
“Bye Dad.”

It was now 9pm and Sydney had had enough and went to sleep. She put her phone on the nightstand and went to bed and wait for the next morning and Vaughn’s call. She’d have sweet dreams tonight.

Thank you thank you, SR. And thanks to everyone else that's read it.

I got distracted working on other things, but I'm gonna work on it in the next few days. I like to take a lil break in between writing so I can come up with some more ideas and dialouge.

And a lil disclaimer here, I'm not exactly sure if you can just add water to hydrogen cyanide, but it seemed like a good idea to me. ;)

Hey Flames! That is some great fic ^_^ You're right, you're a very detailed person, but that makes it good  I'm writing a fic too, should be up hopefully next week, don't have a title yet. I'm pretty detailed too, and a perfectionist  so everything has to be perfect fore I post it. And thanks for checking out the abc site and the pic. If you go clockwise around the pic, Lindsay, SydneyLookALike's sis, is 12, Angie is 3, I am 6, and Megan, SydneyLookALike is 9. Again, great fic, can't wait for more!!! Oh, and I like how you went for romance between you and Syd ^_^

Ring, ring, ring. Sydney’s cell phone had jolted her awake. “Damn, I was having a really good dream, too,” she muttered to herself. She went to answer the phone and heard “Joey’s Pizza” and knew it was Vaughn.

Twenty minutes later she went and told her goodbyes to Will and Francie and told them she was going to Moscow to talk to the bank about security issues they should deal with. Of course, that was another lie she hates telling, but this is what she chose to do after Danny died.

AT THE SAFEHOUSE

Once Sydney arrived at the safe house, Jack and Vaughn were already there waiting to talk to her. Jack and Vaughn looked like they haven’t been able to sleep in days, while Sydney looked well rested.

“Hey guys,” Sydney said as she walked in and stood across from Jack and Vaughn.
“We came up with your counter mission and it should go smoothly if everything goes as planned,” commented Vaughn as he tried to hide a smile.
“Tell me what you want us to do,” Sydney asked.
“Well,” Jack started, “Constantinov is wanted by the CIA on terrorism ties and he knows they are watching him, so he might either try to kill himself and be a martyr or what we’re hoping for is that he will give up and broker a deal with us.”
“Well, let’s hope for the best,” Sydney answered.
“We’re hoping that if we can get him to give up and talk to him about his ties, we can save him and use him for information,” Vaughn continued.
“Sloane told me that he wants me to assassinate Constantinov because he would like to watch it on tape and he feels that he’s getting too close to SD-6. Is that what he told you, Dad?”
“Yes, yes he did.”
“We know that you and Jack are going to be disguised as desk clerks who are doing desk work at his HQ and then you will go into his office to talk about security stuff, lock the door and do what we’ve come up with. We’ve come up with a way for you to ‘kill him’ without Sloane suspecting any kind of game happening. This is a pouch filled with blood that you have to put by his heart. With the gun already given to you by SD-6, you will insert a blank cartridge so that when you fire the gun, it will look to Sloane that you actually shot the gun. While your dad is videotaping, he will set off the blood pouch and thus, of course look like you killed him,” Vaughn commented.
“Sounds simple enough, I just hope Constantinov won’t do anything foolish and sabotage my counter mission.”
“I hope not either,” Vaughn stated.
“I’m gonna get going now, I’ll see you on the plane to Moscow. We leave in five minutes.”
“See you there, Dad. Bye.”
“Bye Sydney, Vaughn.”

“So, how have you been?” questioned Sydney.
“I’ve been good. And you?”
“Been good. Oh, my, I better get going now. Listen, Vaughn, I…I…”
“What Syd?”
“Had this dream last night.”
”What kinda dream?”
“Just…a dream. I’ll try and tell you later.”
“Ok, well, see you when you get back. Be safe”
“You know me, I always am.”

They left each other feeling the thick romantic tension between them. That’s the way it’s always been since they met. Sydney knows she has two fires burning inside her. One fire is to take down SD-6 and get out of her double life. And her second fire is to get with Vaughn and live one life.
