This is our second annual "Year in Review" / "Look Back" (last year’s can be read here). Last year we also made a list of the top things we were looking forward to in 2003.
Here are our Top 5 favorite moments of 2003:
- Phase One (the superbowl episode): Alias would never be the same again, with the destruction of SD-6, one of the fundamental icons of the show, as well as new levels of relationships between Sydney and Vaughn as well as Francie and Will (not to mention the death of Real Francie).
- The Telling (season two finale): Alias, as many people have pointed out, is not a show that plays it safe. Two years are gone, a great fight happens. In one season, Alias has completely changed (imagine how confused you’d be if were watching the third season and had seen the first, but had completely missed the second).
- Early decision for a third season: This decision by ABC allowed the Alias writers to plan ahead (instead of thinking that they might end the series with Phase One at the end of the season and Sydney quitting the CIA).
- Alias on DVD: Not only can we now watch Seasons 1 and 2 anytime we want in great quality, but the special features give us a unique look behind the scenes of Alias.
- Emmy nominations for the entire spy family: Jennifer Garner, Lena Olin, and Victor Garber.
- Season 3 Premiere: Although we were very glad to have Alias back, the Season 3 premiere didn’t answer our questions and wasn’t as satisfying as it could have been (think Season 2 premiere, which was very good).
- Daredevil: It was great for watching Jennifer Garner in a big role, but was overshadowed by other events
