Computer Problems

Tom

An Old Friend
I was on sierra's site to download the opposing force demo so I could play it again. I was in the middle of the game and I got a blue screen timed shutdown and had a helaba time getting booted back up. I ended up restoring to sunday evening and uninstalling the demo. I think I may have a cable backwards on my HD, Would that give you problems
I have 512 memory installed and only 386 or so shows up, I have a 40g and a 120g HD and I only read the 40 and 45? My cd burner shows up when it wants to and I believe I need to flash my bios. I taught myself what I know about computers and I dont have the $ to do ANYTHING, Anyone got any Ideas?

Swkirlinator, I broke this off from the BSG game thread...

Did your PC ever recognize the 120gig HD as being 120 gigs? If not, you are most likely on the right path then with the BIOS upgrade. Do you know what type of motherboard you have in there and how old it is?

Yes it did recognise the 120

Very weird that it used to recognize it as a 120 but it doesn't anymore. The question that needs to be asked: Have you changed anything on the PC lately?

I had my burner when I booted this am.
I started burning family photos in zip to a cd and 1/2 way into the burn the cdrw dissappeared and I wasn't able to turn off the burn but according to the popup the disc is ruined. I couldnt open the tray until I rebooted. It wrote to the disc 1/2 way but it wont read. CDRW is gone again.
Pretty sure its a driver issue since installing winXP but I cant figure out a work around.
