A Note About the Alias Content on This Site
We no longer like or enjoy Alias. We think the show now, in a word, sucks. Therefore, we have decided to cut back drastically on the amount of Alias-related content that we add to this site. We want to concentrate our time and energies on content that is more strictly related to Michael Vartan. So we will no longer be updating some sections, such as the Hall of Fame, bloopers, coincidences or wish list. We will no longer be archiving most Alias-related articles or news items.
For now, Kate intends to continue with her weekly debriefings of episodes. We will continue to host Patrick's screencaps as long as he wants to continue providing them. We will add some Alias-related items that are more Michael-centric, or that we think are particularly important or intriguing. This may include spoilers and promo pictures. We still have respect for the actors, so if there are interesting interviews with them, we may add those.
We know that this may upset or anger some visitors, but it is the right thing to do for us. We no longer get any joy from Alias, so there is little reason to keep spending so much time and energy on the show. It only leaves a nasty taste in our mouths and a feeling of pointlessness. Where once we felt affection for the show, we now feel anger, bitterness or, at best, apathy and indifference.
Be assured, this is not a decision that we have taken lightly, because we have invested untold hours and emotion and heart into this site and the show for almost two years. That is not something that we wanted to walk away from lightly. This site and what it represents has meant the world to us, and we never imagined that it would come to this. It is a very sad day for us. We have talked about this step a lot, and we came to the inevitable conclusion that we needed -- and wanted -- to make it. In some ways, it was not an easy decision to make, and in others, it was very easy.
We do not have any hope that we will ever get back the joy and excitement in the show that led us to create this site in the first place. This season, its willful mistreatment of Vaughn's character and its sacrifice of beloved characters on the altar of a poorly conceived, poorly written and poorly acted character have completely leeched away our emotional investment in and affection for the show. Alias is no longer the show that we once loved, and we cannot envision it returning to that show. No matter what happens in the show now, it will be a case of too little, far too late. The damage has been done. This abysmal season burned the emotional bridge for us.
We believe that fans should never be put through what Alias fans have been put through this season. We believe that television shows should not be about manipulating and mindf***ing the fans. We believe that television shows should not be about subjugating characters in favor of lame, contrived, distasteful plots. We believe that fans should not have to "stomach" months of subpar drama in the hopes that maybe, someday, there will be a worthwhile payoff in the very end. We believe that entertainment should not be about pain, disappointment, frustration and sadism.
Unfortunately, Alias has been turned into something that we can no longer believe in.
We want to thank profusely everyone who has visited this site and sent us news, photos, spoilers and comments. This site wouldn't be remotely what it is without your help and contributions and willingness to share with your fellow Vartan Hos. We appreciate it beyond measure. We hope that you will still visit us for and continue to share with us Michael-related content, and we hope that we will be able to provide you with new, fun and interesting things in the future.
Very sincerely,
The Safe House Webmistresses
