Season 5 Is Vaughn Alive?

I never read spoiler threads so I'm sorry if this was addressed already.

I read that Michael Vartan is returning to Alias. My question is...has it been said if Vaughn is alive or if he's a ghost or just in Syd's mind (like in Horizon). I really hope he's alive - it would nice if the series wrapped up with a happy ending. I wasn't sure if any spoiler sources had said one way or another.

I have always thought that Vaughn was alive. They way that episode was put together, there were too many things going on in the APO office after Vaughn's shooting and before his "death". I think that Jack knew that they were dealing with people high up (people so high up that they knew about APO - remember Gordon Dean knew about APO) and needed to fake Vaughn's death...that was why you had Marhsall saying to Weiss that he had just broken about 37 laws.
