Summary by superintelligentone aka SIO

Daytime in Rome, Syd is speaking Italian to the Chancellor of the University of Rome. Her cover is as a patron who has just made a large donation for the restoration of a wing of the university. Elsewhere Renée breaks the lock to gain access to the basement archive. As the Chancellor tells Sydney that he's taking her to see the Dean of Students, Renée tells Syd that she's in place and that it is now her turn. Syd picks the man's pocket and pretends to faint. She explains that it is her baby showing her who is the boss, then asks him to go get her a drink of water. She uses a remote duplicating system to copy the key for archive and create a new one for Renée in the basement. Renée opens the door with her copy and searches for a package intended for Gordon Dean.

Sydney runs into her former college teacher, Professor Choi who recognises her. She asks what he is doing in Rome. He explains that he is teaching there and doing research. Syd explains that she has been travelling in 12 countries in 24 months, which lets Renée know that she should look for package lot #1222. Syd is in a hurry to leave but the professor wants to chat. Looking at her pregnant tummy, he asks if she is married. Syd claims that she's a newlywed. A man enters the archive and radios that he is found lot #1222. As he takes out a Chinese teracotta statue, Renée points her pistol at him and tells him that she wants it. The man tosses it to her, then he kicks her as she catches it. She loses both her gun and the statue which flies into his hands. They get into a martial arts fight. The statue falls to the floor and breaks open, revealing a keycard. Renée defeats him and leaves with the keycard.

Sydney claims that her husband is at the hotel and sees that the chancellor is coming with a glass of water. Syd has to leave before Professor Choi blows her cover. Syd claims that she and her husband would like to take him out to diner, asking for his phone number. As the professor searches for a business card to give her, Sydney slips away. Outside, Renée asks her who Choi is. Syd explains that he is no one, someone from a another life.

Nighttime in at the Los Angeles military hospital, Sloane presents his credentials to a marine guaring the wing where Nadia is being kept. He reluctantly walks into her room and gently kisses her on the forehead. The naval doctor tells him that they've kept her in a medically induced coma for the past 5 months. He suggests moving her to another facility since there is no chance at improvement.

Arvin receives a cellphone call from Dean who tells Sloane that Sys has an access card that belongs to them. Sloane wants details, but Dean won't give them and tells him that he has 48 hours to get it to him.

Dean puts away his cell phone as he and Kelly Peyton walk out of an office building. She asks him if it is the right move, because he might get discovered by their superiors. Gordon says that he doesn't have much choice. Kelly assures him that he is too important to be dismissed over his setbacks. Dean says that he needs some 'life insurance' to sleep better. He them points out if his superiors terminate him, they probably do the same to their entire cell. As he gets into his car, he tells her that he'll let her know when Sloane contacts him. Peyton looks like she is contemplating her options.

At APO, Sloane arrives in Jack's office. Jack tells him that Sydney's mission in Italy was a success. Arvin tells Jack that he already knows that. Jack asks how he would know that. Arvin reveals Dean told him! (I was right about Sloane going to team up with Jack and the APO to take down Dean.)

Morning at Syd's house, Rachel asks about Marshall working on the keycard. Syd tells her that he suspects that is an access card for a secure network. Rachel jokes that there are only 10 billion secure networks in the world. Syd suspects that Dean won't be happy about them having his property (and will take some action). Delivery men arrive with a large box. Syd tells her that it is a crib. Looking around the room that will be a nursery, Rachel thinks that it needs decorating, but Sydney wants to go to work. Rachel wants to help assemble it before they go to work. Syd admits that she used to imagine that is would be fun picking out colours, decorating the room, but not now (that she doesn’t have a husband). Syd gets a cellphone call summoning her to the APO.

Sloane is revealing to Jack and Sydney that he was approached a month ago by Dean’s associate during his sentencing hearings. They would sway the committee to clear him, but didn’t tell him what they wanted in return. Syd criticises him for lying to them all this time. Arvin says he has no excuse. But he couldn’t face spending the rest of his life in prison while Nadia was comatose in the hospital. Jack asks why he is telling them now, since she hasn’t improved. Sloane reveals that her condition is hopeless. He points out that if he has to face living without his daughter, he still has to live with himself. Arvin says that he realises what he is about to say will sound hollow, but he considers them both to be his family. Sydney is sceptical and asks if he expects them to forgive him now? Sloane replies “Not at all. I know how much pain Dean has caused you as well as Rachel Gibson. I’ve damaged your investigation long enough. Ironically, Dean’s arrangement puts me in a unique position. The last thing that he expects of me is to doublecross him.” Syd asks if he’ll help them arrest Dean. Arvin explains that Gordon has tasked him to return the access key the she took. They can use it as bait. She is sceptical, worrying about Sloane tricking them. He assures her that once they have Dean in custody, he will be forced to reveal his organisation. Then she’ll have all the answers that she needs. Sydney and Jack exchange uncertain expressions, then he asks if Arvin has a way to contact Dean, which is his consent. Sloane phones Dean to tell him that he has obtained the keycard. Gordon tells him that he knew he could count on him. When Arvin asks where they should meet, Dean tells him at a racetrack.

At the planning meeting Rachel tells the team that Dean will likely have two heavily armed men who will blend in with the crowd. One will shadow Dean and the other, Sloane. Marshall jokes about having Deja vu with Sloane “First Sloane was good, then he was bad, now he's good again?” But Jack has no patience for that and points out that they will be at a significant tactical disadvantage since Dean knows what they all look like. Tom points out that Dean has never seen him. He is anxious to make his acquaintance. Jack says that Grace should take the lead and everyone else will provide support. As the meeting adjourns, Sydney and Arvin exchange concerned looks.

In Dubai (United Arab Emirates), Syd gives Sloane a final mission briefing. She explains that since Dean may have detection equipment, Arvin won’t be equipped with a transmitter. But she will watch him from a distance. Sydney gives him the real keycard because Dean may test for a fake. The plan is for Sloane to keep Dean occupied while the APO takes out his bodyguards. Before leaving, Arvin tells Sydney that he may have failed his own daughter, but he hopes that by taking out Dean, that he is helping saving Syd's child. As he leaves, Syd watches him with concern.

Syd is 'disguised' as a pushy pregnant American lady, saying in a southern accent “Excuse me. Momma coming through. Watch out. Don't jostle the package.” as she makes her way to her seat at the racetrack grandstand. Dixon is dressed like an Arab in a white robe and headpiece. Gibson is dressed as an Australian drinking from a whiskey flask. Syd points a laser microphone and camera, built into her purse at Sloane who is taking a seat several rows below and watches him with binoculars. Dixon announces that he sees Dean approaching from the East Concourse and begins to follow from a distance. Thomas joins in the pursuit. Looking at her monitor, Rachel says that they got him.

Thomas dabs some whiskey onto his face and pretends to be a drunk in order to expose one of Dean's secret bodyguards. He bumps into Gordon and asks him to bankroll him two thousand, then they’ll split the winnings. Annoyed, Dean radios for his bodyguard to assist him with the ‘drunk’. A man dressed in a grey suit tries to escort Grace away, but Tom tasers him in the abdomen into unconsciousness, then sets him down into a chair. Gordon takes the seat next to Sloane. Rachel alerts Dixon that Dean’s other man shouldn’t be more than 50 feet away from them. Gordon asks for the cardkey so Arvin takes it out of a silver cigarette case. Syd spots the second bodyguard and alerts Dixon to his location. Marcus tells the man that he is sitting in his seat, then tasers him. He announces that the man drinks too much to the neighbouring spectators. Unexpectedly, the racetrack public address system interferes with the APO com-links. When Dean tries to contact his two men, he can't reach them. He then realizes Sloane has betrayed him, so Gordon pulls a pistol on Sloane and takes him hostage. Rachel decides to leave her post to see if she can help.

Inside the stable area, Sloane insists that he came by himself. But Dean tells him to keep moving, then uses his remote control to unlock his car. Realizing that Gordon is preoccupied, Arvin pivots around and knocks Dean’s pistol away. Sloane’s punch to the head gets blocked, then Dean counters with his own punch to the head, a punches to the gut of the older man, then slams Arvin’s head against a wooden fence and tosses him to the ground. Sloane valiantly gets back up to his knees, so Gordon kicks him in the stomach. Rachel calls out “Stop” which gets Dean to turn around to look at her. Gordon is amazed and says “Isn’t this a surprise. What are you doing here, Rachel?” She doesn’t respond, but glances down at his gun on the ground. Dean notices her looking at it and concludes that she wants to use it against him. He asks her if she is going to fight him. Gordon tells her the reason why they never put her in the field was because they knew she wasn’t equipped to fight. Rachel courageously says that is their loss, then attacks with a kick to his legs. Dean blocks her kicks and punches, then counter punches her in the face. He blocks another punch and then grabs her by the back of the neck and slams her head against a wooden fence. She drops to the ground, dazed, so Dean turns to retrieve his pistol from the ground. But when he turns back, Rachel hits him across the side of the head with a shovel. The radio interference clears so, Sydney calls her to ask if she sees Dean. Rachel explains that he is on the ground ‘eating dirt’ because she hit him with a shovel. When Syd asks if he is conscious, Rachel says that she thinks so. Syd instructs her to hit him again, so this time Rachel bashes him again to render him unconscious.

Dean is dressed in a prison jumpsuit, wearing shackles as he is escorted into the APO by Rachel and two guards. He glares at Syd as he walks by. Syd phones Renée to tell her that they soon learn what he knows about Prophet 5.

Inside an interrogation room, Dean is strapped to a chair. Syd tells him that they want him to tell who he works for and what their agenda is. She shows him a syringe and says that he can give the information willingly or not. Gordon says that they may not have the same agenda, but they have the same goal. Sydney is surprised by that comment. He says that he wants to know who he is working for too, but she stopped him from finding out by taking the keycard. Dean explains that the people that he works for draw their power from being anonymous. He says the all the information that she wants can be obtained from the communication hub by using the access card. But before he provides the location, Gordon wants $10 million and documents for a half dozen false identities, plus dental implants that can fool facial recognition software. He wants to her to help him disappear. Syd refuses, so he reveals that the card will expire in 12 hours and the information will vanish. Dean tells her to contact her superiors to relay his demands. But Syd thinks that injecting him with the drug will get him to tell without taking too long. She injects him and he begins trembling.

Marshall explains to Rachel that the drug is modified LSD. He then denies ever have taken LSD. Jack wants Marshall to tell how long it will take to interrogate the prisoner. Marshall says one hour but he can accelerate the process. Jack approves, so Marshall plays weird rock music. Jack comments that he sees Marshall must have done this before.

Sloane is at a dock when he is approached by a strange man. The man named Joseph Ehrmann says that they (Prophet Five) are aware of what happened to Dean. The man wants Sloane to eliminate Dean. Sloane says that now that he's confessed to the APO, they have no hold on him. Ehrmann says that they have more to offer. Sloane's phone rings to summon him to the hospital.

When he gets there, he is astounded to find Nadia awake, calm and rational. The doctor says they didn't do anything. The nurse just found her like that. The enemy has revived/cured her. Sloane owes them a favour now.

Marshall says Dean’s heart rate is off the chart and his brainwaves are erratic. He thinks that playing ‘Twisted Sister’ rock music may have been a mistake. Jack orders him to cut the music. Marshall says that Dean needs to feel safe, so he needs someone to comfort him in his hallucinatory state. Syd volunteers to talk with Dean. He reveals he knows that his superiors want to kill him. Syd assures him that she won’t let that happen. Gordon says the enemy wants his eyes, and begs Syd to stop them. Sydney asks him which network the access card is for. Dean says that he can help them when she sees the watchman. Syd tells him to focus his confused mind and asks how to get into his organization’s network Gordon then screams for her to get away from him and blames her for preventing him from finding the secret. He says that he needed protection, so Sydney assures him that she is there to protect him now. When she tells him that she can keep his secret safe, Dean reveals “The Watchman is on the roof. You ... need to go ... to the roof.” Syd asks which roof and where she can find it. “Glenheim” is his response. Marshall finds that there is a Glenheim Towers in Seattle that has a number of satellite dishes on the rooftop connected to a network of servers. Jack then gets a cellphone call.

Meanwhile, Dean cries that he shouldn’t have done it, but his superiors insisted. He reveals that they made him kill Michael Vaughn. Gordon confides that he can help her defeat them, but she has to hurry. He says that the enemy has plans for Syd. Sydney asks “What plans” but Dean doesn’t tell her. Then Jack enters the room to tell Syd that she needs to go see Nadia. Jack will continue the interrogation.

Sloane is having a happy moment with Nadia, telling her that she is beautiful as he strokes her hair. She asks about what happened in Sovogda, but Arvin says that he’ll tell her later because she needs to rest. Nadia then asks where the doctor is, then asks what’s happening. She goes into convulsions, clutching his hand. Sloane reacts in horror “Oh God...” Then he yells “Please, I need help here! Please! Help! I need help here! Doctor!” The doctors come in and restrain her from thrashing. Her eyes are red, showing that she relapsed. Arvin cries “Nadia! Please!” in despair. Syd arrives to see the doctors finishing sedating Nadia. Sloane has a sad expression, knowing the enemy has a hold on him again. Sydney looks heartbroken.

Out in the corridor, the doctor tells Arvin and Sydney that they were forced to induce a coma again. The doctor thinks that Nadia waking without any signs of her disease was a fluke that isn’t likely to happen again. Sloane sadly lowers his head without saying anything, so Syd thanks the doctor for them. After the doctor leaves, Sydney consoles him “You’ve done everything you can for her. Beyond that, it’s out of your control.” Arvin thanks her. He doesn't tell about the man at the dock.

Nighttime in Seattle, Washington, a black helicopter equipped with noise suppression hovers over an office tower as Dixon and Grace descend by wire onto the rooftop. As Sydney returns from the hospital, Jack says he’s heard (about Nadia) ands asks how Sloane is coping. She replies “Not well.” Jack and Rachel explain that the network his organization is using is mobile, piggybanking on top of the legitimate communication signals of the Glenheim company, who don’t know that they are being used. Since the network is rerouted every few days, so if they move, the APO will never find them again. Rachel tells Syd that they only have 12 minutes, 58 seconds until the network relocates. After Dixon makes a connection to the network, he finds that there are several foreign government servers using it. Jack suspects that government servers are being hijacked by Dean’s associates. But Marshall says that he would have detected that, so he knows that the users ARE government. Syd concludes that Dean didn’t have to bribe someone on the inside to clear Sloane. They already are already inside the government.

Sloane walks the corridor of the APO checking his watch. As the bank of surveillance monitors shut down, a security technician comments “Right on time. Network diagnostic is up and running.” As Sloane walks past a non-operative security camera, the technician tells his colleague “You got two minutes to grab that coffee. Oh, and get me a cup too? A little cream?” Sloane uses his access card to get into the room holding Gordon Dean. Arvin enters and tells him that for the next minute and a half, no one will know that he is there. Dean thinks that Arvin is there to free him, but Sloane says that isn’t what he has in mind. As Marshall works on his laptop, he announces that he’s narrowed the network down to twelve isolated nodes and thinks that he can trace their point of origin. Rachel recalls “If there was never a one, there was ever the Twelve” and points out that Dean used that as one of the Caymans Bank Account protocols. Marshall announces that they’ve just been locked out of the system by Grade 3 Watchman Encryption. There’s no way to bypass it within 6 minutes. They’ll need a password. Sydney recalls that Dean told her when she finds the Watchman, he’ll help her. Syd leaves to go to get him. In his room Gordon pleads Arvin not to it because he has the access codes that will bring down Prophet Five. Holding his head back, Sloane forces a cyanide pill into Dean’s mouth, saying “God forgive me.” Gordon screams for help, but Arvin explains the room is soundproof. By the time Sydney get to the room, she sees that Dean is dead and no one else is inside.

Later in his office, Jack pours Sydney a glass of water and tells her that Medical Services say that Dean took his own life with cyanide. Syd is puzzled because Gordon wanted immunity and wanted to live earlier that morning. Jack speculates that since Dean thrived on power, the prospect of facing a life sentence was too much for him. Sydney then mentions that there are twelve parts of Prophet Five and sadly says its like The Alliance all over again. Jack agrees. Syd says that if they are imbedded inside global governments, where do they start to take them down. Jack explains that they already are. She then asks if he has any plans for tonight.

Inside a limousine at night, the Prophet Five man from the dock, Joseph Ehrmann, pours a glass of glass of liquor from a decanter and invites Kelly Peyton to join him in a drink. He says they can toast to her success, or to sooth her guilt (in betraying Dean). Kelly replies that guilt isn’t one of her driving emotions as she accepts her glass. Ehrmann then says that Peyton will take over Dean’s operation as they agreed to. He warns her that he appreciates ambition, but if she plans on further betrayals, they will come at her own expense. Kelly tells him that she understands, then the two of them toast and sip their brandy. The limo comes to a stop for a car waiting at a dock, and then Ehrmann excuses himself to attend the secret meeting.

The man congratulates Arvin him for eliminating Dean and thanks him for accepting their offer. Sloane explains he didn’t have a choice, then asks when Nadia will be cured. Ehrmann says they have other tasks for him. Arvin protests that they have a deal, but the man counters that they have an arrangement that Sloane doesn’t understand. Arvin curses him. Ehrmann says that they’ll be in touch and then reminds Sloane that they’ve given him hope for Nadia.

Nighttime in the living room of Sydney’s house, Jack is assembling the baby's crib near the fireplace, announcing that he’s finished the headboard. Looking up from the instruction manual, she counters that it is the footboard. He clears his throat and claims that is what he said. Sydney asks if he’s ever built anything before, so he says in an annoyed tone that he built her crib. Syd finds that surprising. Jack admits that he did it with Irina's help. Putting in the mattress, he announces with a touch of triumph that he's done. When Sydney seems surprised, Jack asks if she doubted him. Syd replies “No... Of course not” with a smirk and gets up to help push it. But as they try to wheel it into the nursery, Jack is annoyed to find that it won't fit through the doorway. Sydney smiles and then suppresses it, knowing how her father’s pride is. He asks Sydney to hand him the screwdriver so he can take it apart. Syd turns to get it and giggles.
