Chapter 1-
‘I’m pregnant’ Irina thought to herself ‘I’m pregnant.’ She didn’t want
to believe it, but she knew it was true. She’d known for a couple of weeks now,
but she’d kept it in the back of her mind not wanting to believe it was true. She
knew that this was not a good thing and that the KGB would not like this idea at
all. She wondered what her handler would say. She wondered what Jack would
say. She loved Jack so much, she knew that, and she knew that it was wrong and
the KGB would probably kill her if they found out but she couldn’t help it. Jack
cared for her so much, much more than anyone had before, she knew that he’d
be happy with that they were having a child, but as for the answer to the other
question, well she knew that her handler would not be pleased at all. She hated
lying to Jack and there were a couple of times that she almost told him the truth
about her but she knew that if she told him both of their lives would be at risk.
Irina was torn between two lives, the one she was living, and the one she was
pretending to be living. She couldn’t help it but she loved being Laura Bristow a lot
more than Irina Derevko.
