Part 7
“Michael?”
“It’s not what it seems like Syd… I was just… I have an appointment… well I had an appointment” he said looking at his watch “about 30 minutes ago… I was running through the park… and then I saw you… I…”
“It’s ok… I’m sorry about yesterday”
“Me too! What about if I buy you ice-cream? I think they sell ice-cream somewhere around here…”
“Mummy I want ice-cream… chocolate ice-cream please”
“Ok…” Sydney agreed to Vaughn’s invitation much to Dominic’s delight. They trotted through the park until they’d reached the ice-cream seller, where Vaughn asked for one chocolate cone.
“And what may I please the Miss with?”
“I also want chocolate” she beamed like a five year old, following the older lady’s every movement as she dropped the ice ball onto the cookie cone and handed it out to Sydney. Vaughn had a vanilla cone and together they rested on one of the benches nearby.
“Thanks for the ice-cream”
“Tastes good?”
“Oh yes… it’s delicious”
They finished licking their ice-creams and eating the cookie before Vaughn decided to drive them back home.
“We can take the bus. You already paid for the ice…”
“I want to drive you home Syd”
Sydney felt very embarrassed around Vaughn. “Wait, you got some chocolate there” he lifted his napkin to her mouth to take off the remainders of the chocolate. Automatically Sydney’s hand went to cover his. A tingling feeling shot through both bodies right away, except that her cheeks turned into red.
Sydney’s sparkling eyes were locked with Vaughn for an entire minute.
“Michael….” She broke their eye connection looking down to the ground. She let go of Vaughn’s hand dropping her arm to her side but he caught it again.
“Syd…”
“Mummy! Come on… we’re going to miss the bus! It’s almost 5.30 on my watch. You’re late!”
She smiled at her son’s words as he was the one to break their moment. Sydney felt unsure about what to do. They should take the bus… she wanted to… but at the same time she also wanted to be with Vaughn. She wanted him to take them home.
“Just a second Nicky. I’m coming…” she said to her son “He reads the watch too…” she smiled shyly. She felt inferior to Vaughn. He was smart and handsome. He was nice and sweet. Vaughn seemed to love Dominic just the same the little boy liked Vaughn.
It was a difficult choice to make.
“I’m not sure Michael… I like you… You’re a good friend” That hurt Vaughn but he could understand her point of view. He not only wanted to be her friend but so much more. They’ve only known each other for 48 hours… how was it possible to be in love with some woman you hardly knew?
“Driving you home… that’s it… There’s nothing wrong with driving you home?” Vaughn gave it another shot.
“No…but…”
“MUMMY! MUMMY! The bus… it’s gone” Dominic came running to the smiling pair. Nobody knew why they were smiling but they figured it had something to do with Vaughn driving her home. “Mummy, we missed the bus… now we have to wait half an eternity for the next one!” the little boy pouted pulling his lip.
“Michael’s going to drive us home sweetie”
“Really? Oh cool!”
“You get to have your drive buddy! But I don’t have a child seat like grandpa, so you gotta sit still and put on your seat belt, ok?”
“Cross heart!”

“Kitty…kitty…” Dominic chased the cat through the house. “Mummy can I feed Kitty tonight?”
“You have a cat?” Vaughn asked in disbelieve. He didn’t remember having seen a cat the other night.
“Yes that’s Kitty.” Dominic informed Vaughn, holding the furry animal up in his arms and set it into Vaughn’s lap. “You don’t like cats” the boys asked curiously.
“No… I mean, I’m not used to cats at all Nicky” The child’s head tilted to the side as he spoke, caressing the cat that made itself comfortable in Vaughn’s lap. The cat started to purr.
“She likes you”
“Michael… Daddy’s on the phone. He wants to talk to you” Vaughn spoke to Jack and they exchanged several lines. The phone call didn’t last for very long and he set it back onto the receiver to charge the battery.
“When’s grandpa coming?”
“He’s not coming tonight buddy. But he wants me to check your homework because mummy can’t do that alone.” He glanced up at Sydney with a soft smile that she even returned. It didn’t take the boys long to go through his scribbled letters and Vaughn already felt very proud of the boy.
“Ok… what else do you need to get done?”
“The reading here… but that’s easy. I know it by heart already”
Nonetheless Vaughn wanted to make sure that Dominic’s homework was done just like his mother and grandfather wanted them to be done; properly.
“Well done buddy, I’m proud of you”
“Bedtime Nicky”
“No mummy…”
“Yes bedtime. Come on… and don’t forget to brush your teeth. Call me when you’re done!”
She did exactly what every mother would do to get her child to bed at night. Vaughn didn’t grasp why people would want to take Dominic from Sydney.

“You don’t like it? That’s such a sweet movie” Sydney beamed as she ripped the remote control out of Vaughn’s hands as he wanted to zap to another channel.
“It’s so pathetic”
“Yeah but sweet! And they’re going to kiss” she exclaimed throwing a plaid over her shoulders and then stuck her tongue out at Vaughn.
“Really?” Vaughn was mocking her. She was just too cute to not make her angry.
“Yes… it’s a romantic movie. He doesn’t know that she loves him” she explained in one breath “Then she kisses him on the lips, he opens his eyes in surprise and then they kiss even more. I like it a lot… because they know that they love each other… how can you not like it?”
But Vaughn didn’t want to answer her questions, instead he had some for her as he simply kept on gazing at her “Have you ever been kissed like in the movie?”
“NOOO! Are you crazy!” She laughed avoiding his stare. She knew he was staring at her but she wanted to watch the movie. Why could he not simply do the same? Vaughn on his side had known the answer to that question.
“Would you like to be kissed like in the movie?”
She didn’t get his insinuations at all “I don’t know… I’m not sure… I guess that when you love each other, you have to kiss that way, right?”
“When you watch that kissing scene, does it make your body feel all warm and fuzzy? To a point where you want to close your eyes and you want to be kissed the same way”
“Michael!”
“What would you say if I’d want to kiss you like that?” he asked, leaning his head into his hand while the movie started to play on the screen. Her eyes would drift to the movie every now and then, but they’d still go back to Vaughn.
“Then you’re definitely crazy!”
“Why?”
“I don’t know…”
“Because you think you don’t deserve to be kissed like that? Because you’re scared to get hurt? But I’m not gonna hurt you Sydney. I want to kiss you. Kissing doesn’t hurt!”
“Yes it does… in here” she placed the palm of her hand over her heart. “I’ve never been kissed, so if you do… you’ll laugh at me and then run away. And that hurts! It would break my heart!” she told him truthfully without flinching her eyes once.
She was right in that case he would break her heart. But he knew he wouldn’t. He would never laugh at her… never!
“Syd?”
“Hmm?”
“Close your eyes” Vaughn said leaning slowly closer into her. His nose was rubbing softly against hers, there lips were inches away. It was like he could hear her heart beat and his own beating at the same pace. First slow…then more rapid.
He barely brushed his lips over hers. His eyes were open, staring at her closed ones as she gave herself into this very first kiss.
“Feel the heat?” he whispered against her dry lips to which she nodded her head slowly. Her breathing was increasing with each thumping of his heart the longer he lingered against her lips.
“Your heartbeat going faster?” she nodded again and gulped her saliva. She didn’t know what it was like to be kissed but goodness she wanted to know it. She wanted to feel his lips on hers some more. He started to nibble lightly and under the overwhelming feeling his eyes drifted shut. His fingers glided up from her forearm to capture her silky hair, letting it glide through them smoothly.
She shivered lightly under his touch which gave him goose bumps all over. They were hardly breathing the same air and he was driving her crazy already. He dared to open his mouth and trace the soft lines of her lips with his skilled tongue. No kiss has ever been as perfect as this one.
“Let me in Sydney” he mumbled lovingly. “I know you want to feel it… let me show you” Vaughn thought he was going to loose it as he felt tears welling up in his eyes. That’s how emotional he started to get. Never before had he felt so overwhelmed while kissing a woman… but he wasn’t just kissing any random woman, he was going to kiss Sydney Bristow.
Her breath hitched when their tongues touched the first time, something that shot right through Vaughn’s body. He prayed to himself to keep his body under control, but right now that was rather difficult. He knew he would… eventually.
They kissed, they explored, tongues mingled together… it was perfect, it was meant to be. It lasted long… very long and even longer as neither seemed to get enough. Only the lack of oxygen would break them apart breathless.
“Oh my God… Holy… Syd…”
“What? Oh I knew it… I… it’s ok… I’m going to be fine… I…” she started crying as she had doubts about her abilities of kissing. Her potential of kissing made up for the lack she might have elsewhere but to Vaughn she was perfect. She was the one…
“Sydney….sh…” he shushed her, holding her head firmly in his hands very close to him. He locked his eyes with hers and only then would he speak “You’re amazing… and god so beautiful…”
“Michael…” she moaned as she couldn’t believe her ears. No man had ever spoken such words in her life, except her father. But this here felt different. Everything felt different with Vaughn.
“Whatever you might say Syd… my feelings for you aren’t going to change… I’m falling in love with you… a lot. I’m aware you might never have felt this feeling. Or nobody might have ever said these words to you… but I love you… I can’t get you out of my head… you and Dominic… I want to be with you all the time. I know it scares you… I mean…We’re moving pretty fast… but we kissed. I just kissed you… didn’t it feel just right to you?”
“It did…” his thumb rubbed her flushed cheeks and he thought she couldn’t look even more adorable than right now with swollen lips and red face.
“You liked it?”
“A lot” she admitted, turning even more red. “I just never… I’m not sure…”
“We’ll take things easy… very easy from here on. We have plenty of time Sydney…” they stared at each other for some more and then Sydney laid her head into Vaughn’s lap while they watched
Pretty Woman. At the kissing scene both felt the warm feeling that had cursed through their bodies just an hour ago.
Sydney looked up at Vaughn from her laying position. She was all smiling… with dimples. She looked like an angel to him.
“I want you to kiss me again Michael” her sweet voice spoke.
“Always a pleasure”
