Chapter 10
“Are you ready for dinner?” Sydney asked as she let herself into Julian’s apartment.
“Almost” Julian shouted from his bedroom, “Do I need a tie?”
“I’d go against it” Sydney shouted back, “Vaughn hates ties so he won’t be wearing one”
“Alright, well I’m ready then” Julian emerged from his bedroom, “Hello beautiful” he kissed Sydney gently on the cheek, “You look stunning”
“Thank you” Sydney blushed; she was wearing a red strapless dress that came just above her knee.
“Ready?” Julian asked her.
“Yep” Sydney nodded.

“Heya hottie” Tara laughed as she linked her arm through Sydney’s.
“Hey” Sydney smiled, “You look great”
“You too” Tara smiled as they walked into the restaurant, “The boy is already inside”
“Seat warming?” Sydney laughed.
“Something like that” Tara rolled her eyes, “How are you Julian?”
“I am exhausted” Julian laughed, “And how are you Tara?”
“About the same- I wore your girl out last weekend” Tara laughed, “But it was a blast”
“So Sydney told me” Julian nodded, “I’m glad you ladies had fun”
“Me too” Tara smiled.

“Oh my god Julian if you tell this story once more” Sydney groaned.
“Baby it is a great story” Julian had his arm over Sydney’s shoulder.
“I agree” Tara smiled, “I love hearing it”
“I’m sure you do” Sydney rolled her eyes.
“So” Julian began, “Sydney was walking down the street with this pair of flip flops on and she’s laughing about something or other”
“Oh my god!” Sydney squealed, “please stop”
“Alright, fine” Julian laughed and took a long sip of his wine.
“Thank you” Sydney sighed with relief.
“Oh I liked the way this story was going” Vaughn laughed.
“I’ll tell you later baby” Tara promised him.
“You better not” Sydney glared at her and then at Vaughn.
“Oh come on- it’s a good one Syd” Tara smiled.
“Uh huh, whatever” Sydney rolled her eyes.
“C’mon” Julian took hold of Sydney’s hand, “Let’s dance”
“Hm?” Sydney looked at Julian with a twinkle of curiosity in his eye, the song was slow and from what Julian had always told her, he wasn’t much of a slow dancer.
“I want you to dance with me” Julian took her hand, kissing it gently.
“Alright” Sydney nodded as she stood up.
“Thank you” Julian smiled as he led her out.
“Aren’t they cute” Tara smiled.
“Hmm?” Vaughn mumbled as he watched the couple sway on the dance floor, feeling as though he wished he were the one holding Sydney close to him instead of Julian.
“Julian and Syd” Tara cooed.
“Oh…uh…yeah” Vaughn nodded, “Sure”
“What’s wrong?” Tara smiled as she looked back to Vaughn.
“Nothing” Vaughn shook his head.
“You sure?” Tara asked him again.
“Positive” Vaughn nodded and then looked at her, “Wanna dance baby?”
“Sure” Tara stood up and gave Vaughn her hand, “Take me away”
“Alright” Vaughn nodded.

“Oh my god” Sydney laughed as she, Tara, Vaughn and Julian walked down the street.
“I know” Tara smiled, bumping gently into Sydney.
“Ladies, you need to go home and rest” Vaughn smirked.
“Let’s go back to Syd’s and watch a movie” Tara suggested.
“Well, I would but I have to go home” Julian told them. “Sorry to ruin the fun”
“It’s no problem, do you have to go now?” Sydney asked him.
“I should” Julian nodded, “I have to go to work tomorrow”
“Oh, okay” Sydney nodded, “Well, night” she kissed him gently.
“Night” Julian nodded, “I’ll call you tomorrow”
“Uh huh” Sydney smiled as he walked back towards his car.
“Okay…so your place?” Tara looked at Sydney.
“Yep” Sydney nodded, sighing to herself. Since Sydney and Julian had began dating, one thing had always been able to come between them was the fact that Julian had to work for everything that he had, while with Sydney and most of her friends, it was something they just got. Not that Julian resented Sydney or her friends for it; he simply missed out on some aspects of their lives because he couldn’t necessarily afford to go along.

“Tara?” Vaughn looked over at his fiancée, she was clearly asleep on the floor, and Sydney was asleep on the couch opposite him. “Alrighty then” Vaughn shrugged and stood up, he couldn’t move Tara for two reasons, 1 being that he didn’t know where to move her, 2 being that as soon as you touched her while she was sleeping, she would wake up. So Vaughn stood and moved over to Sydney, he lifted her up gently, her knees folding over his arm, her head lying against his chest as he moved slowly upstairs to where he remembered that her bedroom was. At least that was where it had been when she was 16. “Time for bed” Vaughn smiled, placing her in the unmade bed and then proceeding to pull the blankets up and over top of her, “Sweet dreams” he smiled, kissing her forehead gently, “Night Princess”
