Most of the schools where I live dont have a pool, we just practice at like the aquatic and stuff.  Swimming is like really exhausting, but whats funny is that it has been proven that it doesnt burn as many calories as other sports even though it makes you so tired!

it doesnt?!?! oh my gosh i would have thought that it did, or at least when i did it i thought it did! becuase after four hour practices all i wanted to do was eat and sleep!!(and thats what i did...i dont think i ever ate as much as wheni was on teams! ^_^ )
i miss it alot, i havent been on a team for a year now....... :(
Omg! I know! When I had b/f school morning practices I would go to the bakery and get 2 gigantic chocolate chip muffins!! I mean, lord! I had to be eating like at least 1000 calories at breakfast!! lol! Even though I still swim its nothing like it used to be and its so hard to get used to not eating as much! I mean , im eating like a normal person now, but it feels like im on a diet! lol! Why arent you on a team?

time issues... -_- i had to pick either dance or choir or swimming and i picked swimming to get the boot because i want to go into theatre and both choir and dance help with that...swimming doesnt sadly....
i miss it alot...even though i wasnt very good i loved it, i also dove for our team too!
but i know what you mean, during season i would eat a huge breakfast, then eat lunch, get home eat dinner before practice again then after night practice eat another dinner!! ^_^ its like i never stopped eating!!
so when the winter came again this year..i started eating alot and gained weight -_- but i have more dance classes now so im back to where i was..but still i never realized how much i did eat and how little i do now!

but when i was at a friends the other day, she had a pool and instead of being normal and just swimming around, i ended up doin laps..freestlye, fly(even though i hated these when i swam it felt amazing!) breatstroke and back(i love back... ^_^ ) but it just felt great swimming again!!

grrr...my mom wants me to take swimming lessons because i can swim a little but i cant thread water or swim for very long. so now, she wants me to take lessons with these kids who are like, 7 years old! and i'm 14! i dont want to be in the beginners class with those little kids! i can always get my friends to teach me how, but my mom wants a professional teacher to teach me :(

Aww! I feel so bad for you! But, I mean, have you tried just explaining your situation to your mom? She might understand. Plus, maybe they dont even let 14 yr. olds take the beginning class. I mean, I bet they might have one for adults/older kids. Tell me how it goes!

You're allowed to complete the lifeguard class!? Here (assuming I'm thinking of the right class) you have to wait until you're 15 or something. That's the reason that I don't have mine yet. I had to stop swimming lessons after Aquaquest 12 because I wasn't old enough to do the next thing, but I'm going to take Bronze Cross this year.

The place I go 2, you have to be 12 to start the first level, you can be any age to start the second level and you have to be like 15 or 16 to finish everything.

Yay! I just got back from my team awards ceremony! I won 2 awards!!! Most improved swimmer and best swimmer in the 11, 12 and 13 year old age group!! Yay! I'm so happy! :D

I also got a towl with my name on it! I set a club record for 50 meter backstroke!

Wow! That is so awesome!!! It must be awesome to know that you have gone the fastest time ever at your club!! Congratulations! What was you record setting time?

hi everybody. this is my 1st time at this thread. I wanted to say that i did competitive swimming from the age og 6 to 15. I quit cuz it was so boring and tiring, ant trainnig everyday took up a lot of my time. But i have won several medalls and trophes. My style is breaststroke ( hope i spelled that correclty, english is my 2nd language)

i don't like swimming competitively... i do it (well used to really)

it is really boring... just laps...and laps.... no excitement for me! i want martial arts.

I don't care if it's boring! I think it's awesome. My coach is one of Ontario's best and he said swimming is the hardest sport. You have to be ready phsically and mentally. Can't be one, gotta be both!

i think swimming is very boring, but extremely healthy. I heard it's like the most "complete" sport, meaning you work out many muscles or sth like that. Plus, it helps develop a fit body
