Episode Ten – Spirit Sloane has Sydney taken to a torture room at SD-6, but the process is halted and her partner on the last mission (Russek) is tortured in her place, and killed. Marshall had intercepted a transmission from Russek to K-Directorate. Christmas roles around, and Vaughn gives Sydney an antique frame. A jealous Will stays quiet because he’s begun a romance with his assistant Jenny from work. Sydney goes to Semba Island off the coast of Kenya and finds that Hassan has undergone plastic surgery and has a new name: Nebseni Saad. Sloane knows this and also that Hassan is currently in Cuba. Jack is sent by Sloane to kill the man. However, the CIA wants Hassan alive, so Jack gets him under protection so as to get the weapon master’s client list. Will is still investigating. Nevil, an audio engineer, discovers some muffled dialogue on the tape that Will had been given somehow. Nevil is able to figure out a word in the muffled speech: SD-6. Will finds an SD-6 reference in the transcripts of a lawsuit against a man named David McNeil, a businessman who invented a computer encryption program and is currently in jail for embezzlement. The jailbird’s lawyer tells Will that McNeil’s wife killed herself under strange circumstances. Will visits him in jail and scares off the inmate at the mention of SD-6. Sydney learns from Vaughn that her father doctored transmissions to frame Russek. Vaughn also tells Sydney that Jack is being held hostage by Hassan in Cuba. Upon trying to rescue him, Sydney is also captured. Hasssan doesn’t know that Jack and Sydney are related, so he gives Jack a gun and tells him to prove himself by killing Sydney.
