Season 2 Through the looking glass

I haven't read everyones speculation, (sorry! I will eventually!) but I was thinking, on the lines of the theories, what if the Di Regno heart wasn't needed for Rambaldi, but They took Jack's heart (any link to Sydney for a reason that we don't know?) and put the Di Regno heart in Jack, so he didn't die, because he is still of some sort of use to Sloane.

What do you think?

I'm not sure what you mean? Sloane might use Jack for the de Regno heart for what reason? To keep it "alive"? I don't think that would be possible without the help of heart surgeons. I think there is some other use Sloane has for Jack. Again, we have to wait for 9./28 for the answer or at least a part answer for it. Il Dire was making a hell of a lot of noise while Jack was in Mexico City. What was that all about?

What verdantheart says makes the most sense. Jack is a business man above all else. He also tends to act a bit hasty without entirely thinking through every detail when it comes to Sydney (i.e, setting up Irina on mission for the "Bible" and killing the double agent from the first season).

Being a businessman was his cover for Sydney while she was growing up. Jack has been in the CIA all his life, including his stint as a double agent. So I think everything he does is predicated on his feelings for his daughter -- and in one instance, his wife. His killing Hadlaki was to protect both of them and I don't think it was a hasty move. The Irina set-up again was to protect Sydney, at least he felt she needed less Mom at the time. He was desparate, thinking she would be lost to him. Businessmen tend to think things through, calculating odds...Jack was operating on emotion. If he is with Sloane, I think it might be not a business deal, but more of "at least I know you and know what to expect" kind of thing. IMHO
Of course speculation is great, then along comes JJ and his motley crew to upset our applecart!
i didn't mean it as him literally being a businessman. i meant that he has the thought process of one.

Good ideas everyone, I would have never thought of any of this. Reading all this is such a good way to temporarily quell the severe Alias withdrawals I know we're all having during this LONG summer!
