Season 3 Il Dire and the di Regno heart

What is Il Dire? It was mentioned in Episode 18. How come the covenant has posession of the di Regno heart? I thought that Sloane gave it to the CIA along with the rambaldi machine as part of his pardon agreement? Also, what was that writing machine that the covenant used to write a scroll of parchment?

Il Dire is what both Sloane and Irina were after in season 2--the whole point, the big McGuffin. It is the prophecy device created by Rambaldi, made up of 47 parts which were dispersed and hidden.

You remember how the Covenant forced Dixon to get Lot 45 from the DSR's possession? The Di Regno heart was inside Lot 45, remember? So Sloane hid the heart inside Lot 45 and then turned it over to the US government.

What was that writing machine? That was Il Dire.
