Season 3 rambaldi machine (il dire)

Maybe this is a stupid question, but how did the covenant take posession of the rambaldi machine (il dire)? When Syd helped Dixon to retrieve the rambaldi box from a US government facility, the remainder of the 47 rambaldi pieces used to construct il dire were held there, yet in episode 18, the covenant clearly had posession of them.

Furthermore, if Sloane was to hand over the rambaldi machine to the CIA as part of his pardon agreement, then why was the diregno heart hidden in the rambaldi box - didnt the CIA question his motives at that point?

First of all I think that Sloane got the machine back when Sydney was "traded" (the ep when Linsey got killed)

I still don't knew why the diregno heart was in the rambaldi box. Eaither there are two hearts or Sloane got what was origianally was in the box and put the heart there.

remember when syd was "kidnapped" they exchanged the machine for syd...but when they opened the truck that was supposed to have the machinne it was gone...OR SLOANE GAVE IT TO THEM.

Lauren's part of the NSC, remember? She knew about the transfer and had the van hijacked on its way to Sloane. Sloane might still be behind it, of course, but Lauren knew about it and told the Covenant about the plan. Isn't it obvious?
