i thought this episode was one of the best alias episodes in the last two seasons because:

-it had a flashback, which i LOVE
-sydney was actually in trouble
-they FINALLY had cliffhanger commercials, something they were SERIOUSLY lacking
- sloane is EVIL again :D
-sydney uses her skills (crowbar)
-everyone was on a mission (besides jack, unless you call being with sloane a mission)
-there actually was an alias, and it was a REALLY good one, i think
-there's a repeating villain to try and fight against
-the backgrounds were fantastic
-"this never ends"

i gave it a 4. (y)

i try but my friends dont respect it so...

i know he's fliming right now and i swear its the only thing keeping me from the ledge...
*he will touch the belly, he will touch the belly*
see if i keep saying it, it will come true
*believes*
Aww Janet.... ;) Don't worry... I've been the same way.

I was ok with Rachel last week. But after this episode, I'm not that sure... She seems really insecure for someone working in the spy world. Yes, she's not a field agent... but.. I don't think Marshall has mood swings as bad as she does.

But I am starting to like Tom. Is it just me or does he not have many lines??? ... but it was a Rachel-centered episode. I wouldn't go as far as say he's hot... not yet, because that role will always reserved for Vaughn... but I am starting to warm up to the idea of him as an agent on the show.

Loved the gambling scene! Oh... and Marshall with the dice... "7! Winner!!" That was funny!!

And OMG!!!! That scene where they dropped the car!!! That got my heart jumpin'... yes it did... I guess that crowbar came in handy after all...

Overall, it was a good episode.

OMG!!! :jawdrop: We find out who is in the box next week!! They better actually tell us or I'll be very, very mad!!!!!!

I really liked this episode!! I loved pregnant Syd gambling. And Marshall with the dice. Ha...Very funny. I have to agree with Ilovevaughny, this was one of the better episodes in the last two seasons. They had cliffhangers, great action, great disguises, and almost everybody was in the episode. I give it a 4.

You know it's kinda sad that so many people are doing this whole protest Alias thing. I think it's just a whole lot of energy wasted, this season isn't bad, and even though a lot of the decisions the network and writers made(should have never switched to Thursday) well they didn't seem like good choices to me( but then again who am I?) Alias is still Alias, it's never going to be exactly what you want because everyone wants something different I mean I hated the Lauren character but someone (I guess) liked her. That being said

Man this new chic (Gibson) has potential but I kinda miss Nadia, I mean I was just warming up to her as a charater and they completely pull her from the show.

The new guy works well with Dixon I think he's not trying to be Vaughn(I don't think) and I'm ok with that.

I really like the new intro I was shocked last season when all the clips were Garner love her but there are other cast members who are equally talented.

Liked the Vegas scene liked the Caymans don't like the fact that Rachel is such a punk, I haven't warmed to her as a charater so all the scardey cat stuff just make me roll my eyes

Other than that pretty goo ep.

hahaah you don't like Tom janet??

i was a little bitter about him at first cuz you know, he was sent to replace Vaughn but now i just can't help it, he fits in so well and he's.... HOT! 🤤 :P

Another great episode. It just proves how much of the previous seasons were wasted with shipper plots.

What was great was that Rachel has a different personality than Sydney. People who snarked that she would be a Syd-lite have been proven wrong. Having her character originate as a tech consultant rather than a filed agent was a great idea. This way she can be trained by Syd without repeating Syd being resentful of Vaughn treating her as a rookie.

Also great was sticking with the plot that everyone in the APO believes that Sloane is reformed. Having Jack tell Arvin that Syd and Marcus volunteered their testimonial endorsing him is important to show that the APO is a unified team. Whether he is or isn't remains to be seen. I do think that it is like after a war, people don't forget their losses, but they move on contructively.

I like how the plot kept us guessing about Sloane's trial. The senator at the hearing is surprised that Arvin convinced APO that he is reformed. He says that they will decide Slone's punishment. Back at Sloane's cell, Jack and Arvin thinks that he'll be found guilty. Sloane thanks Jack for his testimony. Jack tells that Syd and Marcus volunteered their testimony. Sloane gives Jack power of attorney in case he is executed. He wants Jack to take care of Nadia as if she were his own daughter. Now this gives hope to people who want Jack to be Nadia's biological father. I predict that is false hint. I think that it is more significant that Arvin is so attached to Jack. I have a pet theory that Sloane is Jack's older step-brother/half-brother.

Sloane is contacted in prison by Dean's man who is there to offer a deal. We are left to wonder if Sloane will make a deal.

At the judgment hearing, the senator judging Sloane says that even though he finds Arvin's history detestable, he finds that Sloane had the best interest of the US in mind. Sloane is cleared and released. As Sloane leaves, we see that Dean's man is sitting in the corridor watching. Has this man gotten through to the senator and made him clear Arvin in exchange for Sloane's cooperation with Dean? Or was Sloane cleared on Jack, Syd and Dixon's testimony? It it good that we have to wonder whether it is that simple.

And if Sloane did make a deal with Dean, is he merely using Dean to get a cure for Nadia? Isn't it more likely that Sloane is manipulating Dean, rather than Dean is manipulating Arvin? Sloane is a master tactician. I doubt that Dean is smarter than the master! I think that Arvin is still reformed and will team with Jack to destroy Dean.

Alias is back to being exciting as the first year. I almost feel sorry for people who aren't watching anymore. Rather than allowing the show to get stale, the writers have devised a refreshed Alias. Boring? Not possible unless you only watch Alias for Vaughn.

Wow, a lot of people really seemed to like this episode, I'm surprised. I didn't think that much really happened. I think they played it out toolong. Like the whole time when they went back 72 hours (I think) it didn't really even lead to anything that big. I'm not saying that I didn't like this episode just because there was no Vaughn. It just didn't get me thinking, "Oh my god, what is going to happen in the next episode?" I like when a episode ends all crazy and all over the place. I didn't see that in this episode, but no matter what I'm not giving up on Alias (that is impossible!). It looks like it still could egt really could. I'm taking this season with a positive attitude!

It was a good episode surprisingly

Been dissapointed with the last 2 episodes but todays was a start. The only thing that made it good was the Sloane deal and being let free. Gambling Syd was hilarious and the car drop was cool too. I'm not a huge fan of the new guys- they kinda bug me. Don't like Rachel but I'l give her a chance. We also need Vaughn back, Tom is a dissapointing substitute and I'm missing my shipper scenes. :(

Overall though I'll give the episode an 3

Ok, so this could be total wishful thinking (or hopeful delusions since it was quick and i have really bad vision), but was the guy in the hallway reading the newspaper when Sloane walked out of the courtroom Vaughn with a beard? I'm starting to think that I'm making this up since no one else is saying anything...

Definitely wishful thinking. It was most definitely the guy being hired by Dean at the beginning. Someone later said that he was going after Rachel. While we all assumed that, it was obviously wrong since Dean was the one controlling the car hanging from the cable, Dean was the one on the phone and so on. The mystery bearded guy, on the other hand, is the one who showed up in to see Sloane in jail. So I think it's probably a good assumption that the target was Sloane not Rachel. Nothing says "target" implies "target to kill".

ya know, I haven't missed Vaughn at all. Infact, if it wasn't for his fans, I probably would forget about him period. The newbies are doing great so far and it's nice to see that Rachel isn't a Sydney clone, she is different.

Vaughn was too important a part of the show to be forgotten.

That being said, I like the new characters too. Rachel's back story is just a little too much like Syd's but I'll forgive them for that since they have introduced some differences in her personality. I think Tom is very hot and look forward to him being developed more later. Some people are saying the new characters are being shoved down our throats while somebody else complained that Tom is underdeveloped - I think both points are unfair. They're introducing the characters somewhat cautiously while still indicating that they're going to be a big part of the new season - and I'm fine with that. It's great to see Syd develop into a mentor.

In all honesty, I think eliminating Vaughn has allowed Syd a lot of room to grow as a character. I still want him back because I think it's cruelty to deprive the main character of almost all the people she's closest to (Danny, Francie, Will, Nadia, Irina) . . . they have to at least let her walk away from APO w/ the love of her life. But he might be gone forever. I don't know. In the meantime though, his absences has really made Sydney grow as we haven't seen in any way before. W/o Vaughn there to back her up, she's grown into her own as a mentor and as a leader. She's calmer now than she ever was before. We don't see her smile, but that's realistic I think. She still misses him, but she's getting on with life and doing what she has to do.

I missed last week's episode because I didn't care enough to bother watching the show, but I'm glad I caught this week's. It makes me feel like I can start looking forward to Thursday night Alias again.

Now, I'm sure I may have death threats placed on my life for saying this but...am I the only one who was actually too...interested in the episode tonight (and last week too actually) that...you didn't even notice Vaughn was gone. I watched Alias while working out at the gym tonight and I was glued to the tv while I was on my machine. Through out the entier episode tonight not once did it hit me "Oh yeah...Vaughn's not there anymore" I was honestly too interested in the episode and our continuing exposure to these new characters.

I'm not saying I'm not missing Vaughn being around the show. I'm simply saying...I don't think his departure has effected the show too much (atleast in my taste)

I'm really glad that there are so many people that are still VERY MUCH into this show. I get angry at the people that stopped watching ALIAS because Vaughn died. They seem to think that Vaughn was the only thing good about this show, which obviously isn't true.

"Mockingbird" kept me excited from start to finish. I loved the whole dangling car idea, because it shows that the writers can still have exciting things happen while Syd/JG is pregnant. Syd playing at the casino was pretty cool, and it shows that she doesn't always have to kick butt. With Jen's charm that she brings to the role, she makes it fun for the viewers to watch w/o violence all of the time. I gave it a 4!

I love the way ALIAS is coming back together again (after last season). This season, I can't wait for the next episode to air. Last season I was like, "Well, gotta go watch ALIAS now", like I was forcing myself to watch it. ALIAS has got me hooked again, and I can't wait to see what happens next!

The Jaguar reminded me of the pilot, and anything that reminds me of the pilot makes me..... :D Plus, a Jag is way better than a Ford.

They have to include at least one cool/hit song in addition to Michael's consistently excellent score. And, sometimes play music instead of having dialogue, like when Sloane told Emily at the beach.....

OMG THAT WAS SOO GOOD!

OK, I'll admit, I did NOT care for "...1..." and "The Shed". But this episode was CRAZY!

The beginning was Alias missions at their best! The music, the disguises, the cool spying, SO GOOD! And I was taken SOOOOO OFF GUARD with the whole magnet and the car!! And the 72 Hours Earlier after "What IS Mockingbird?!?" SO AWESOME!!!!!

SLOOOOAAAANEEEE! God last week he was SO BORING, but this episode was INCREDIBLE in setting up his character for the season! He took the bait! He's out there! I LOVED THE WHITE LIGHT!!!! It's such irony. Sloane is released to go with another bad guy...into the white light. LOL

LMFAO!!! Marshall "Seven! Everytime!" LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!

OMG the questions thing was so cool! SO SUSPENSEFUL!!! Loved it!

And usually when they go back and reshow the beginning, it's always SO BORING (a la APO Part One). But it was REALLY well done this episode! I NEW RACHEL WAS IN ON IT!!

I love the Syd/Rachel team. It's funny. Like in the car! I have....a tire, a crowbar, and my purse....is that helpful? NOT REALLY! lol

WOOT! Great episode!!

...so i missed the entire begining!!!! ugh... anywho, the new agents are most def. growing on me, i'm glad to see syd is still out in the field - kees it interesting and next week's....woah.... i would say 'well, OBVIOUSLY its vaughn' but then there's another side of me that says 'hmmm.... i think he's really gone for good and this is just a ruse to make us think he's comming back.' As much as i don't want to admidt it, i think his fate is sealed for sure this time.... but the "who's in t he box thing" is really got me thinkin'.... also - was anyone else OURAGED that arvin sloane is now back free... i will never trust slone... ever.... he ALWAYS has a secret agenda for is own benefit in mind.
Rachel is slowly making her way into the show's 'sydney' type image, and i do like the way in which they are introducing her, making her learn as she goes, and not 'hey we're gonna train you to be a field agent'... keeping it interesting... it's no season 1 but JJ is slowly finding ways to try and rejuvinate the show - so props to the attempt, as much as some of the ideas are recycled.

For now,

Ok - not gonna lie - I THOUGHT THE SAME THING!!! my roomie thought i was nuts... but i defenatly agree that it at least looked SOMETHING like him... crazy i know, i think it's just my way of 'adding him' to the episode - but really they're taking a bit of a different focus this season - away from the relationship, so its not all THAT bad w/o him....

That was a great episode. The best episode, I think, since the end of Season 4. It wasn't absolutely amazing, but pretty damn good. First of all, I loved gambling!Syd. I was so happy that she finally had an alias and a good one at that! And then there's Sloane, going back to being evil. But you gotta love him! And I still don't like Rachel that much, but Thomas is growing on me. This episode was suspenseful and written well. I still missed Vaughn, but Alias is still doing great without him. Can't wait till next week!

I LOVED THIS EPISODE!!!

MOCKINGBIRD IS STILL ALIVE!!

Makes me wonder if they'll have a future episode titled, (yes copycatting) "To Kill a Mockingbird."

Anywho, I thought this episode was awesome, got me sweating bullets. I totally did not see it coming...Rachel working with Sydney and Tommy @ the casino, and then in the trunk hundreds of feet in the air.

Great flashback. Hope to get more of those as well as cliffhangers.

Can't wait for more ALIAS. :woot: :woot: :woot:

WOOT! Great episode!!

You always know ALIAS is good when you have the 48 or 72 hour flashbacks. I love those, because usually you get to see what everyone else was doing during that time, when you watch it for the second time.

i agree with many that this is one of the better episodes of the season.. which isn't saying much since it's only episode 4... but it's a start. i do love that we have cliffhangers again... and i've always liked the "__ hours earlier" method.

at the end, i read in the thread that someone said she used the crow bar to hang on.. i thought it was the glass cutter that she used on the mission and the magnet held them up... maybe not tho.

i dont mind the pace that the characters are being introduced at... it takes time to get to know them. it took a while to get to know vaughn... so i think rachel and tom will definitely grow on us.

i do miss vaughn, but the newbies help syd keep her mind on work and not on losing another fiance. not to worry, vartan returned back to work so im sure we will see him in november just before the show goes on hiatus when jen has her baby.

rachel not being an exact syd clone is good. im glad she's not a field agent and syd will have to turn her into one. goes back to the end of season 1 how vaughn wasn't a field agent but he went to help syd find will then somehow in season 2 just became field rated over night. i never liked how they did that so im glad rachel didnt become a field agent overnight. altho i did see a hint of that when she was all gung ho about tagging along the last mission. at least she still freaked out a bit.

when syd first got yanked in the air.. i liked that she says...."im gonna call my dad." that was awesome.

overall.. not that bad. but sloane being evil again... that irks me. im waiting for him to die... so i would like to see the spy family and vaughn pumping some bullets into sloane...
