that's true. not EVERYONE would be drafted. but i think one of their ideas behind not drafting women was that they didn't want the chance of randomly drafting both of a child's parents.
I'm sure something would be done to avoid that.crazy spinster said:that's true. not EVERYONE would be drafted. but i think one of their ideas behind not drafting women was that they didn't want the chance of randomly drafting both of a child's parents.
which is exactly what I'm trying to say.crazy spinster said:that's true. not EVERYONE would be drafted. but i think one of their ideas behind not drafting women was that they didn't want the chance of randomly drafting both of a child's parents.
that, but i'm also thinking that it is b/c women until this time, have always been expected to stay home and care for the house and were considered inferior and less useful to the armed services than the men. yet another example of inequalitycrazy spinster said:that's true. not EVERYONE would be drafted. but i think one of their ideas behind not drafting women was that they didn't want the chance of randomly drafting both of a child's parents.
If the club is private, then women don't have to be let in.glimmerofhope said:True, this is a little off topic but it is relevant in my case. A few weeks ago we had a few women saying that women should be allowed into Tattersalls, a club that has been men's only for over 100 years, but when asked if the women should be allowed to be recruited for the army like men, they say 'oh no because who will stay home and look after everything while they are away', so even the women's right's people are double standardising. I think that women should be allowed if it was to be brought back
Of course its not all womens rights actovistscrazy spinster said:what you're all saying is true, but let's remember that it's not ALL women's rights advocates that are saying this. i don't agree that it's a woman's place to stay at home. yes, there are many people out there who are hypocrites and have double standards, but not all feminists think that way.

Hang on a sec...there are plenty of women more than ready to go off to a war. It's coming out to sound like everyone is complaing. Yes I believe we have equality but more of a way to go.Aliasgirl47 said:it is hypocritical, so all my felllow women, don't complain about inequality and felgercarb b/c if you want it that bad, you can always go off to war too...
well, if the women have an all female acadamy where no guys are let in, it seems pretty equal...crazy spinster said:so what do you guys think about letting women into the citadel (at least that's what i think it was called?) - the all male military academy?
I think that the military academies should be for men and women.crazy spinster said:so what do you guys think about letting women into the citadel (at least that's what i think it was called?) - the all male military academy?
Thats segregation.....remember "seperate but equal" not reaqlly equal thoughAliasgirl47 said:well, if the women have an all female acadamy where no guys are let in, it seems pretty equal...crazy spinster said:so what do you guys think about letting women into the citadel (at least that's what i think it was called?) - the all male military academy?
I believe that there do deserve to be some single sex places existing. Like an all female college. The citadel might make some different points, but I have a question. Are there other places where women can go to military school?crazy spinster said:so what do you guys think about letting women into the citadel (at least that's what i think it was called?) - the all male military academy?
