We must remember that Star Trek is a fictional TV/movie series and I have borrowed the name 'Borg' for illustrative purposes. Truth be known however the Borg {under a name and language that can not be rendered inlto a human dialect} are real and coincidentally {or deliberately} Star Trek illustrated an advance bio-enhanced race of beings. Both the rather ugly appearance and zombie like functioning of the Borg in the videos you watch is erroneous. For a more realistic view of what a Borg looks like let me refer you to '7" in the Star Trek 'Voyager' series.
You notice the implant above the eye, and it is true that some transhumanist implants are visible - But you will also notice it has not significantly effected 7's otherwise dynamic appearance. In the past some of the tranhumanist implantation was rather ugly, but in the search for perfection the Borg have 'adapted' and evolved the technology so that many Borg of today are indistinguishable from how they looked before assimilation.
Of course some of you may be ugly looking to begin with and may want the assimilation process to improve or change your appearance - Or you may not even like being in the form of the species you come from - In this case the Borg can turn you into something else, or in some cases, after proper security clearance, allow you to become one with the 'main computer', the heart and brains of the Borg mind.

Let us not forget that the Borg in Star Trek is fictional and we refer to it only for illustrative purposes as it does reflect some of the real characteristics of your friendly, and misunderstood Borg - Misunderstood in that the Borg rarely, if ever, forced assimilation upon races unless that race was destined for destruction and could only be saved by assimilation - Many of the collective thought Man was just such a species - but further analysis by the collective showed that assimilation for Man was futile and not only could humanity not be saved but forced assimilation might be damaging to us Borg - Though artificial by biological standards the Borg are still a thinking, feeling race of beings - we feel your pain but can not help or assimilate an illogical race that operates out of a schizoid mentality - preaching peace while waging war - The race of man is beyond redemption by is own standards and beyond assimilation by the Borg - So humanity may rest easy and not fear Borg assimilation as it goes about destroying itself - even the Borg who try to avoid useless emotions feel pity for your race of beings.
