Okay this is kind of a stupid chapter, at least the first part is, but oh well. Sorry i had you guy's waiting so long.
“That wont be a problem.”
“Good. You all have the day off tomorrow.” Kendall said, then he left.
“Wow, Kendall is giving us a day off.” Syd said surprised
“Thank god.” Will said. They all left the room.
“So Agent Vaughn where are you going to stay?” Syd said playfully .
“Well, Agent Bristow, If It’s okay I was going to stay with you.” Vaughn said.
“Oh stop it you two are making me sick.” Weiss said walking up behind them. They both laughed.
“But it is good to see you two together again.” Weiss said.
“Thanks, Well Agent Vaughn shall we go?” Syd asked
“Yes we shall.” Vaughn said.
“Uh, stop talking like that.” Weiss said. They both laughed and left.
-Syd’s House-
She opened the door and threw her keys on the table.
“Uh, it’s so good to be home.” Syd said putting down her purse.
“Let me get you something to change into.” Syd said walking into will’s bedroom. She picked out a T-shirt and some plaid pajama pants.
“Here,” She said handing them to Vaughn.
“Thanks,” He said. He walked into the bathroom to change. He came out and stood behind Syd.
“Uh Syd, I think I have a problem.” Vaughn said. Syd looked up from her book and laughed.
“What did you do?” She asked
“I don’t know, either I’m fat or Will is tinnier than I thought.” Vaughn said looking down at the skin tight shirt. Syd didn’t mind.
“How did you get it on?” Syd asked
“I think the bigger question is how an I going to get it off?” Vaughn said laughing. He tried to pull it over his head but got stuck. He stumbled around the house yelling.
“Damn shirt, come on!” Vaughn said. Sydney sat there very amused. He gave up and pulled it back down.
“Plan B.” Vaughn said out of breath.
“What’s plan B?” Syd asked
“Rip it.” Vaughn said
“Oh I have to see this.” Syd said she put her book down and gave Vaughn her full attention.
“I’ve always wanted to do this.” Vaughn said. He put his hands on the neck of the shirt and pulled. Nothing. Sydney just laughed.
“Agent Vaughn can’t even rip a shirt.” Syd said laughing.
“Okay miss perfect you try.” Vaughn said pointing at his shirt.
“Fine,” Syd said. She got up and walked over to him. She placed her hands on the neck of the shirt.
“Ready?” She asked
“The question is are you ready to be proven wrong?” Vaughn said
“We’ll see.” She said. She had that competitive look in her eyes. With one quick force she ripped it down the middle. She just smiled.
“Told you.” She said. Vaughn just starred at her. She starred back. He leaned down and kissed her.
“You never seem to surprise me.” Vaughn said. She pulled him into the bedroom and slammed the door.
-Next Morning-
RING, RING, RING!!!
Sydney leans over Vaughn and picks up the phone.
“Hello?” Syd asks. Vaughn wakes up.
“Mr. Vaughn please.” The voice says.
“Hold on.” Syd said, not realizing who it is.
“It’s for you.” She says handing him the phone. She lays her head back down on his chest.
“Hello?” Vaughn says.
“Mr., Vaughn. It’s a shame it had to end the way it did. You know, I loved Kate.” The voice said
“You Son of a b****!” Vaughn yelled. He sat up immediately. Sydney was startled.
“Well I expected that. Guess what? Since you killed Kate am going to return the favor. Something is going to happen close to “HOME”.” Sark said home weird.
“What are you talking about, if you touch Syd…”
“No, not Sydney. But by the time you figure it out it will be to late.” Sark said, he hung up.
“Hello? Damn it!” Vaughn said as he threw the phone down.
“Don’t tell me it was that little British a**hole?” Syd said.
“He said something is going to happen close to home.” Vaughn said.
“What do you think it means?” Syd asked
“I don’t know. But we have to get to the Ops Center.” Vaughn said getting dressed.
-Ops center-
Sydney and Vaughn ran into the Ops Center. They ran up to Kendall.
“Sir we got a phone call form Sark.” Vaughn said
“I know we picked it up, we are meeting right now, let’s go.” Kendall said leading them into the briefing room they all sat down.
“We picked up a signal from Sark. He appears to be in France.” Kendall said
“France?” Syd said
“Yes, we don’t know why he’s there but…”
“Somewhere close to home.” Vaughn said to himself.
“Oh my god, he knows where my mother lives.” Vaughn said.
“Well you’ll get a chance to look for her, you and Agent Bristow are going to France. You leave in 30 minutes.” Kendall said. Everyone walked out except Syd and Vaughn. Syd looked at him and say he was in deep thought.
“Vaughn, she’ll be okay.” Syd said
“If he hurt her, I swear on my fathers grave.” Vaughn said angry.
“Come on.” Syd took his arm and lead him into the Ops Center. 30 minutes later they were on the plane. Sydney sat in the back going over the mission plan while Vaughn sat towards the front thinking. Syd put down her papers and walked over to him. She sat down next to him. She didn’t say anything she just laid her head on his shoulder. He starred at the seat in front of him. The whole plane ride was silent.
-France-
Syd and Vaughn rushed off of the plane and got into their car. Vaughn drove as fast as he could to his mothers house, he got lost a few times because it had changed since he had been there last. They finally pulled up to a small farmhouse. Vaughn jumped out of the car.
“Vaughn wait!” Syd called from the car. Vaughn ran inside gun pointed. The lights were out, and there was glass on the floor. Vaughn rushed into the living room. What he saw would haunt his dreams forever.
His mother was lying on the floor covered in blood. She was barley alive. Vaughn ran over to her and knelled next to her. Syd came running in but stopped about 10 feet away.
“Mom!” Vaughn yelled. She turned her head with what strength she had left. Sydney called an ambulance.
“Mi…Michael? Is that you?” She asked touching his face. He grabbed her hand.
“Yes, it’s me.” Vaughn said
“Oh, my boy, you are so handsome and grown up.” She said. She started to cough.
“Mom!” Vaughn said worried, “Please, stay with me?” Vaughn said tears in his eyes.
“I…love…you.” She said
“Shhhhh! Save your strength.” Vaughn said. Sydney had tears in her eyes. The ambulance sirens were getting closer. A few minutes later they finally arrived. They loaded Vaughn’s mother into the ambulance and drove away. Syd and Vaughn jumped in the car and followed the ambulance to the hospital.
“If she doesn’t make it I swear I wont be able to live with myself.” Vaughn said looking out the window.
“She’ll make it.” Syd said grabbing Vaughn’s hand.
“She doesn’t even know what I do. I promised her I wouldn’t get caught in this life.” Vaughn said shaking his head.
“She is going to be okay.” Syd said again.
-Hospital-
Syd and Vaughn sat in the waiting room. There were families all around them, some happy and some mourning the loss of their loved one. This made Vaughn more nervous than he had been before. The doctor finally came out. They both stood up.
“Is she going to be okay?” Vaughn asked immediately.
“Yes, after some time she will be fine. She was shoot in the stomach and was badly beaten. Do you know who could have did this to her?” The doctor asked
“No,” Vaughn said shaking his head.
“Okay, well she isn’t awake but you can see her if you would like?” The doctor said.
“Yes.” Vaughn said. The doctor led them into the small white room. His mother was sleeping peacefully. Vaughn walked over to her and kissed her forehead.
“I’m sorry mom.” Vaughn said quietly. Sydney walked out of the room so Vaughn could be alone. Meanwhile Vaughn’s mom was waking up.
“Michael?” She said
“Hi.” Vaughn said. “How are you feeling?” Vaughn asked
“A little better. Michael what happened?” She asked
“Mom, I have to tell you something, it is going to be hard for you to understand but i have to.” Vaughn said, “Mom, I work for the CIA.” His mother’s eyes got teary.
“What? You are lying right?” His mother asked
“No.” Vaughn said.
“I thought you promised you wouldn’t join? Why Michael? Tell me you didn’t do it because of your father?” His mother said
“In some ways, yes.” Vaughn said.
“I can’t believe You, how long have you worked for them?” His mother asked
“About 5 years.” Vaughn said
“And you didn’t tell me?” She said
“I couldn’t.” Vaughn said
“Your father said the same thing. You thought I wouldn’t find out sooner or later?”
“No, I didn’t think you would. Mom listen I like my life. I have the girl of my dreams, I love where I live, I have great friends…”
“The girl of your dreams?” His mother said shocked. Vaughn swallowed hard.
“Yes.” Vaughn said
“Who is she?” she asked
“Why don’t you see for yourself. SYDNEY!” Vaughn called out. Syd walked inside.
“What is it?” Syd asked. Vaughn took her hand.
“Sydney I would like you to meet my mother. Mom this is Sydney Bristow.” Vaughn said introducing them. Vaughn’s mother was speechless.
“It’s nice to meet you Ms. Vaughn.” Syd said
“Yes, it is very nice to meet you to.” She said.
“Sydney and I work together. I’m her handler.” Vaughn said
“Oh Michael.”
“Mom why can’t you except that I am happy?”
“Because it will get you killed like your father!” His mom screamed. The room fell silent.
“I’m not going to change my life because you don’t like it. I think you need some time to think.” Vaughn said.
“Your right I do need time to think. You can’t just come in here whenever you want to and tell me that you made a life altering decision. You are my son and I love you, but Michael you are acting stupid.”
“I’m sorry you feel that way. I will talk to you in a few weeks. You will be taken to a safe house in LA. Goodbye mother.” Vaughn took Sydney and walked out. Vaughn felt terrible, he just shoot down his own mother.
“That wont be a problem.”
“Good. You all have the day off tomorrow.” Kendall said, then he left.
