~ Part 17
~ True Colors

Vaughn entered the critical unit of the hospital while Sydney was driving as fast as she could to get to Vaughn.

Vaughn arrived at the nurse’s station and was looking around for someone to direct him in the direction of Sark’s room. A nurse appeared from the end of the corridor and flashed him a beautiful smile.

“Good morning Sir, can I help you with anything? She said still flashing her most gorgeous smile.

“Yes, my name is Agent Michael Vaughn, I’m with the CIA and I’m looking for a man that was brought in earlier this morning. Vaughn said as he flashed his badge to her.

“Patient’s name? She asked while she grabbed her list of recent admission.

“His name is Julian Sark. It is very important that his identity remains a secret, some people might try to see him but in no circumstance, I repeat, under any circumstance should you allow anyone in his room without proper authorization.” Vaughn explains the procedures to take.

There was no way Sark would escape or die on his watch. Vaughn was prepared to camp in the hospital lounge until he was release and back in CIA custody. Vaughn was sure that the Covenant would try something while he was in the hospital. They probably know by now that he survived the attack and that the CIA would take him to the nearest medical facility for treatments. Vaughn was ready for anything; he brought a bag for a change of clothes and also his gun. Always be prepare, that was his motto. He walked toward Sark’s room and encountered an agent sitting on a chair in front of the door. As soon as Vaughn approached the door, the agent stood up and looked at Vaughn.

“I’m Agent Vaughn.” Vaughn said as he flashed his badge.

The other agent looked at his badge and in returned introduces himself as: “Agent McCoy”

“Did anyone go in this room since his arrival?” Vaughn asked in assertive tone

“Only the nurse. She said that she needed to check his vitals and I escorted her in and out of the room. Since then, no one else has been in the room.” McCoy replied to Vaughn.

“Fine, keep your eyes open, I will be checking on him periodically as I will be staying at the hospital tonight.” Vaughn said as he entered Sark’s room. “I don’t need to remind you the importance of this patient. His survival can help us bring down the Covenant once and for all.” Vaughn said as he entered the hospital room

Sydney was caught in traffic on her way to the hospital; according to the radio, there was an accident a few miles away and advise people to take an alternative route.

“Great.” She thought as she look left and right for a way to get in front of the long line of cars stalled in front of hers. Cars were bumper to bumper and Sydney was getting more frustrated by each passing minutes. She had no idea how long this was going to take and she wanted to meet Vaughn at the hospital as soon as possible. She reached in the backseat for a purse and took out her cell phone. She knew that he wouldn’t be able to answer his phone due to hospital protocol, so she left him a text message instead: ““Vaughn, caught in traffic, should be there soon, wait for me, love S.”

She knew she wouldn’t be going anywhere for a while, so she just sat back in her seat and waited it out while listening to the radio. She was about to change the station for something more upbeat, when a song caught her attention.

Doing everything that I believe in
Going by the rules that I’ve been taught
More understanding of what’s around me
And protected from the walls of love

All that you see is me
And all I truly believe

That I was born to try
I’ve learned to love
Be understanding
And believe in life
But you’ve got to make choices
Be wrong or right
Sometimes you’ve got to sacrifice the things you like

But I was born to try

No point in talking what you should have been
And regretting the things that went on
Life’s full of mistakes, destinies and fate
Remove the clouds look at the bigger picture

Sydney was listening to the song and thinking about all the events that have happened in the last 24hours. First off, seeing her mom after two years absence is something that she can’t seem to adjust herself to. Every time she starts to trust Irina Derevko, she seems to find the way to betray her before she disappears yet again out of her life. As for her relationship with her dad, it seems to be on the open up every since she came back from the dead almost a year to this day. Vaughn…thinking about him brought a huge smile upon her face. She finally admitted to herself that he is the man she wants to spend the rest of her life with. They had their ups and downs and this time around, they want to take it slow. They went out on a few dates, but now with her mother resurfacing, could she come and jeopardize everything they worked so hard to rebuild.
She chased away the bad thoughts and turned down the radio as grabbed her cell phone to call her dad. She was shocked when she heard the following message.

“The customer you are trying to reach is out of range; please leave a message at the beep, Beep.”

“Dad, please call me back, I want to know what is going on. I’m on my way to Memorial Hospital, Sark has been attacked last night and I’m meeting Vaughn there.” Sydney said with worrisome in her voice.

After 1 hour of barely moving, the traffic finally cleared out and she got on her way. She was at a red light and happy to see the hospital just a block away. When the light turned green, she hit the gas pedal and entered the parking lot in a record time. She quickly got out of her car and made her way through the entrance. In there, she was directed by the security guard to the Critical Unit on the 5th floor. She jumped in the elevator and pressed 5 and then the door closed. When the door opened, she immediately started searching for Vaughn. His message said that he would be assuming Sark’s protection until he is well enough to be transported back to the CIA medical facility. She was walking the hallway until she was stopped by Agent Mc Coy who was standing in front of Sark’s hospital room.

“Excuse me Miss, you can’t go in there, only authorized personnel.” Mc Coy said as he stepped in front of Sydney.

“I’m Agent Sydney Bristow and I’m looking for Agent Michael Vaughn, do you know where he is? Sydney said while trying to enter the room.

“He‘s in there watching the prisoner.” McCoy said as he opened the door for Sydney.

Sydney entered the room and saw Vaughn staring out the window. As soon as he heard the door, he turned around and looked at her.

“Vaughn.” Sydney said as she made her way towards him

“Hey Syd, I’m glad you’re here.” He said as he gave her a quick kiss on the lips.

“You’re ok?” he asked with concern in his eyes

“Yes” She sighed

“What happened?” Sydney said as they turned to look in Sark’s direction.

“Not sure, all I know is that he was assaulted last night, probably courtesy of the Covenant.” Vaughn replied as he took a seat next to the bed and grabbed Sydney’s hand

“So what are we gonna do?” She asked

“Not sure, all I know is that I will stay here tonight, I don’t want to take any chances that something happens to him. Vaughn said as he took out the envelope from his coat.

“What’s that?” She asked as he gave her the document to read.

Sydney started reading the document and couldn’t believe all the details mentioned in them. Vaughn was seating there and watching her reactions.

“What does that mean?” Sydney asked as she placed her hand on his lap to reassure him that everything would be okay

“I don’t know, but we will get to the bottom of this. I promise you that.” He said as he kissed her hands.

Jack arrived at his final destination, the desert. He decided to let Irina out of the trunk.

“Get out” He said to Irina while pointing a gun at her.

“Jack, I keep telling you, I’m not here to hurt you or Sydney.” Irina said as she took a step closer to Jack.

“Why should we believe you?” Jack said still standing in front of her.

“Jack…. I know that our marriage was full of lies and even after I came back…I gave you no reason for you to trust me…but this time, I’m telling you the truth. If you don’t let me help you, Sydney and Nadia will die.” Irina finally said as she grabbed Jack’s hand.

Jack was looking at their hands intertwines and didn’t want to move, no matter all the things that woman put us through, he could stop loving her. Irina gave Jack one of her heart-melting smile that she knew would have its effect on her husband.

“Jack, come on we have to call Sydney and tell her that us 3 will go and find Sloane and Nadia, just like the mission in Kashmere. “ She said as she tugs on his hand.

“Irina, wait…. not so fast…. I need to know everything about you, your sister Katya, Sark and Lauren Reed. As far as we know, you were all working for the Covenant. Who knows, maybe we’ll be walking into a trap and you are the bait to get us there.” Jack said as they got close to the car.

“Jack, call Sydney and tell her to meet us at your house. I promise I don’t have a hidden agenda.” She said as she got in the car.

Jack grabbed his cell phone and noticed there was a message from Sydney. He listened to the message and turned to Irina: “Sark got beat up last night, apparently by someone from the Covenant. We are going to the hospital and you better behave yourself or you will also become a patient.” Jack said as he turned the key into the engine and headed for the hospital.

~ Chapter 18
~Meeting of the minds

Jack and Irina were in the car going to the US Stafford Naval Hospital. They were riding in silence, each staring at one another, each looking for a sudden move coming from the other one. Jack was trying to focus on the rode but his mind was going a mile a minute, wondering why this woman kept coming back in his life. Is it faith? Or maybe bad karma? He didn’t know. All he knew is that Irina was back and he was going to find out why before she puts his life and Sydney’s in danger one more time.

“Jack?” Irina said looking in his direction.

“What?” He said trying to look at her while keeping an eye on the road.

“Jack, I know what you are thinking and I can assure you, you are wrong.” Irina said with a tiny smirk on her face.

“Do you know? You can’t possibly know what I’m thinking, because if you did, you wouldn’t be here right now. Jack said with an intense look on his face.

“Jack, you think that I would actually come here to hurt Sydney, don’t you?
I know you are afraid for Sydney but I told you, I’m not here to hurt her but to help her find Sloane and Nadia. You need to trust me, Jack.” Irina said reaching for his right hand

“Irina, I could never fully trust you, not after everything we’ve been through together but one would hope that someone like you could redeemed herself and do the right thing by our daughter. Sydney deserves to be happy and I will do everything in my power to make sure that nothing else goes wrong in her life. If we have to work together to make that happen; then so be it. I’m willing to give you the benefit of the doubt, but if I see any sign that you’re back to your old tricks again….”He said letting linger his last thought as he stared at Irina

“I know Jack. You have to trust me.”

Once they reached the parking lot, Jack turned to face Irina, ““So, what is your plan to find Sloane and Nadia? “We need a good plan of action as I’m still not sure that Sydney needs to be involved in this plan of yours.”

“First, we have to find Sydney and Vaughn.” “Sydney needs to be part of this mission. After all, it is her destiny to see this prophecy till the end.”

“I won’t summit our daughter to any great danger. I won’t allow it.” He replied angrily

“I told her a long time ago that she is the Chosen One and it’s her responsibility to stop Sloane any way she can. Beside we’ll be there to protect her.”

They quickly made their way to the entrance and in the elevator. Jack pushed the 5th floor button to the intensive care unit where Sark was being looked after.

Sydney and Vaughn are sitting in Sark’s room and keeping an eye on him. He is still unconscious and the prognostic says critical but stable.

“Vaughn, who do you think did this to him? And why? Sark provided the Covenant with 800 million dollars and now, they wanted to kill him, that doesn’t make sense.” Sydney said as she got up to looked outside the window.

“I don’t know but whoever they are, they are professionals. They were able to enter the CIA medical facility and attack him during the night. Sark never stood a chance. According to the doctors, Sark was injected with a paralyzing solution and severely beaten. The liquid acted quickly and Sark couldn’t move or make a sound, that’s why the guards never saw it coming.” Vaughn said getting up to stand behind Sydney.

“Vaughn, the attack on Sark and the method they used to paralyze him, sounds like the way they used on me. Remember, I told you that I got to see my funeral; I was there in a van. Oleg injected me with a liquid that enabled me to speak or move; all I could do was watch. This attack is definitely courtesy of the Covenant.” Sydney said as she turned to face Vaughn.

“Dixon ordered an investigation and he is going to let us know if they find anything. I also asked Weiss to go get us some clothes and food because this is going to be a very long night. Thank you for being here.” Vaughn said as he gave her a kiss on the lips.

“Syd, you mentioned on the phone that you had received a message from your mother, do you know where she is? Vaughn said as he took her face in his hands.

“Yes, I saw her tonight. I was meeting my dad and she showed up at the old warehouse.
Vaughn, I don’t know, she said she was here to help me find Sloane and Nadia. After all she did, I’m still not sure if I could even consider trusting her. What do you think? Sydney said as she looked in Vaughn’s eyes for comfort and reassurance.

“Syd, you know how I feel about your mother. I don’t think we can fully trust her, for all we know, she might be responsible for your abduction two years ago and maybe, she has a plan for all of us. Whatever you decide to do, you know I’ll be right there with you.” Vaughn said as he squeezed her hands in his.

“I know and thank you.” Sydney said as she gave Vaughn a small kiss on his right cheek.
They were looking at each other so intensively that they didn’t see the doctor standing in the doorway.

“Agent Vaughn, Agent Bristow, I need to check on the patient, would you mind stepping out of the room while I examine Mr. Sark.” The doctor said approaching the bed.

“No, not it all, Sydney and Vaughn said in unison. We will be right outside this door if you need us.” Vaughn said as they stepped out into the corridor.

They were sitting in the waiting area when from the corner of her eye; Sydney saw her mother and father walking hand in hand toward her and Vaughn. Vaughn immediately followed her eyes and came face to face with Jack and Irina. Vaughn immediately stood up in front of Sydney as a sign of protection and was the first one to speak.

“Jack, what is she doing here, have you gone insane bringing her to see Sydney? Vaughn said with furry in his voice.

“Mr. Vaughn, contrary to the public’s opinion, I am fully aware of the consequences of bringing Irina to see Sydney. As you can see, lifting his coat sleeve, she can’t go anywhere without me, we are going to remain handcuffed together as long as I see fit.” Jack said looking in Irina’s direction.

“Dad, I don’t understand any of this, I need you to tell me what is going on here and why you decided to bring mom to see Sark.” Sydney said as she looked at both her parents.

Jack signaled to Sydney and Vaughn that they should enter the door next to Sark so they could talk freely without interruption.

“Sweetheart, I asked your father to bring me to you because I have to help you find Sloane and Nadia. This is the last chapter in the Rambaldi prophecy. This is the finale battle. Sydney, you can’t survive this duel without my help. I know for a fact that Sloane is working with my sister Elena. Please Sydney let me help you.” Irina said trying to hold Sydney’s hand in hers.

“Irina, according to the Prophecy, the Chosen One and the Passenger will battle and neither of them will survive. I won’t stand by and watch Sydney die, not again. What you’re talking about is a suicide mission.” Vaughn said angrily at Irina

“I’ve been studying the Rambaldi manuscript for a few years now. All I know is, in the book, he mentions a battle between the Chosen One and the Passenger against great evil. The sphere of life is the key to all of this. We need to find it and destroy it before Elena and Sloane have a chance to use to create the ultimate weapon. There is another thing I discovered in the manuscript.

“What is it?”

“It is also mentioned that the girls’ mother possess the knowledge to decipher the text that would render the sphere of life powerless.” She said as she looked at their stunned faces

“How convenient for you, you’re making yourself indispensable to us, who says that once you decipher the text, you don’t have to kill one of us in order to complete the Rambaldi prophecy.” Sydney said as she looked at her mother.

“That’s a chance we all have to take, so if we are ready, we need to leave as soon as possible.” Irina said as she turned to Jack.

“Where are we going?” Jack asked Irina

“There is a map hidden in one of Sloane’s statues. We need to go to OMNIFAM and retrieve the map. His offices are located in Zurich.”

~ Chapter 19
~ GUESS WHO?

“There is a map hidden in one of Sloane’s statues. We need to go to OMNIFAM and retrieve the map from his office without getting caught. So for now, we are going to Zurich.” Irina said to all of them.

“Zurich!” they all said in unison. “Mom, why would Sloane hide the map in OMNIFAM? I’m sure he would think that it would be the first place we would look, wouldn’t he? Sydney said , looking around the room for a reply.

“Sydney, Sloane left LA in a hurry and as far as I know, he didn’t have the map with him. His only Intel came from Nadia, he’s convinced that she can lead him to the site of the last Rambaldi artifact.” Irina took a pause, getting a feel of the room and then continued.

“According to the information that I received, the clue is hidden in a Friedrich Nietzsche’s quote: “Woman is God’s second mistake.” Sloane used Nadia’s session to gather that information from her, but Nadia misled him and the Covenant to Palermo. She altered the true location of the artifact to protect the key to the sphere of life.”

“The Covenant went to Palermo and found an artifact they believed to be the key, that would explained the excavation site, but Kayta was there to stop them before they discovered the true location of the sphere of life. She did this to protect you and Nadia.” Irina said looking at Sydney

“We need to find Nadia and fast. If Sloane realizes that Nadia double-crossed him, he won’t hesitate to kill her.” Sydney said, standing up and sitting near Jack.

“How can we be so sure she’s not helping him, after all, he is her father.” Vaughn said scanning the room for reassurance

“Well, what difference does it make if she is deliberately helping him or not, the end result will be that Sloane will get the real location of the artifact and probably going to use it for some criminal activities?” Jack said as he grabbed a pen and started writing a plan of action.”

“Dad, I am sure that if Nadia knew Sloane the way we do, she would not help him get his hands on the device.” Sydney said as she approached the table to see what Jack was writing down.

“Ok, here is what we are going to do: Jack said as they all gathered around the table.

First, Sydney and Vaughn will entered the OMNIFAM building on the North East side.

You should be able to climb that façade, since it is the most remote side of the building. The security guards are doing their rounds regularly, so you should have a short window of 20 minutes to go in Sloane’s office, get the map and exist the building before the guards can spot you.” Jack said as he drew a very detail plan for Sydney and Vaughn to follow.

“Dad, where are you and mom going to be?” Sydney asked as she looked at both her parents.

“Sydney, your mother and I will be in a black van parked on the other side of the building, close to the parking lot. We will act as your eyes and ears, and at any signs of trouble; we’ll be able to extract you from the building.
Your mother still needs to prove to us that she can be trusted. Right Irina? Jack said with a little smirk on his face.

“Jack, don’t you think it’s about time you start to trust me. I’m here to make sure my daughter come out of this alive. We need to get moving if we want to stay one step behind Sloane and stop him from releasing the device.” Irina replied with a devilish smile on her face.

“Irina, as far as I’m concern, I won’t take any chances with faulty Intel you might have gathered through anonymous source. We’re going ahead with this plan, are you in or out?” Jack asked as he grabbed his gear and getting ready to go to his car.

Irina just picked up the last bag on the table and followed Jack towards the door.

“Ok, so we are clear, Sydney, Vaughn, you will be boarding a plane that leaves tonight and Irina and I, will be taking a later flight for Zurich. The CIA shouldn’t have any knowledge of this operation. This mission has to remain classified and we should meet at the rendezvous point tomorrow morning. Once there, we will assess the perimeter and figure out if the plan has to be change or not. Any questions? “Jack said while looking around the room. “ Ok, everyone synchronize your watch.” Jack said as he handed out a copy of the plan to Sydney and Vaughn.

“Jack, is there a way with can retrieve the map without breaking the statue, I mean, if the guards seen the broken object, they might alert Sloane and then, our element of surprise is over?” Vaughn said while taking another look at the plan.

“Agent Vaughn, Irina said, there a computer code that overrides the alarm and opens the statue, but the code has to be entered in the right sequence or the alarm will be activated. The panel should be located here behind the painting in Sloane’s office.” Irina showed them on the map.

“How much time will you need to deactivate the code?” Vaughn asked looking in Sydney’s direction.

“Shouldn’t be more than a few minutes. That should give us enough time to get it and get out in less than 20 minutes.”

“Ok, you two should go and good luck.” Jack said, walking them to the elevator.

Once in the elevator, Sydney thought of something.

“Vaughn, what are we going to do about Sark?” she asked looking at him.

“We could ask Weiss, any better idea?” Vaughn said , pushing the button to the ground floor.

“Don’t you think he’s going to be curious to see us leaving town tonight and asking him to baby-sit Sark? Sydney smiled at him.

“I think that Weiss will be happy to hear that we are going away together, too bad, it is not on a vacation but a mission that has the potential to be very dangerous for all of us.” Vaughn said as he gave her a concern look that told everything to Sydney.

“I know you are worried for me but don’t be, I’ll be fine. After all, you are coming with me and I know you won’t let anything happen to me.” She said, giving him her biggest smile for reassurance.

“Syd, I will not leave your side during this mission because if anything happened to you, I will never be able to live with myself.” Vaughn said, grabbing her hand.

The elevator doors opened and Sydney and Vaughn are on their way to un-chartered territories. Only GOD knows for sure what’s going to happen in the next 24 hours, all they could do is hope that everything will go according to the plan. Vaughn walked to the parking garage and dialed Weiss’s cell phone.

“Weiss, its Vaughn.”

“Hey man, what’s up, missing me already? Weiss said with a sarcastic tone in his voice.

“Sure man, I need a big favor, can you baby-sit Sark? Sydney and I are going out of town tonight and we need someone to watch him. Can you do it? Vaughn said with a pleading tone in his voice.

“Sure, where are you guys going? Hope it’s on a very romantic location, you guys deserve it” Weiss said with a deep laugh.

“Can’t tell you, Sydney made me promise not to tell anyone, even she doesn’t know all the details of this trip.” Vaughn said, hating to have to lie to his best friend.

“Sure, sure, I understand. I should be at the hospital in about an hour or so.” Weiss said while still being very curious about the mysterious trip.

“Fine and Weiss….thanks man, I owe you one.” Vaughn said with a bit of sadness in his voice.

“No problema man, see you guys when you get back. “ Weiss said as the communication ended.

Vaughn got in the car and turned to Sydney:” Weiss is going to the hospital to watch over Sark, I hate that I had to lie to him about the real reason for this trip. I’m sure he sensed that there was something strange about our conversation but by the time he figures it out, we will be all the way across the world.” Vaughn said looking at the floor.

Sydney grabbed Vaughn’s chin, so that she could look into his eyes.” Hey, you did the right thing. This mission is full of uncertainties and Weiss would be the first one to understand why we kept him in the dark about this. He is also a friend of mine and I think that he is going to be more useful here than with us in Zurich.”

“Okay, we need to go pack; we ’re leaving for Zurich in 3 hours.” Vaughn said starting the car and heading towards Sydney’s apartment.

Meanwhile in a secret location in Germany, the members of the Covenant are reunited for a very important meeting. Mc Kenas Cole stood up and started a video on the giant screen.

“Good evening Gentlemen, I know that it is late but I came upon some serious piece of information. First, Julia Thorne has been moved to the Geneva hospital yesterday, where she will be able to recuperate and hopefully regain her memories. As for Julian Sark, my source told me that he survived the attack and CIA agents are watching him in a secret location. Please everyone take a look at the monitor, this agent came to me a few days ago with very important details regarding Rambaldi. This agent has been part of the Order of Rambaldi for years and knows the Prophecy and could be very useful in retrieving the artifacts. I had the pleasure to meet her a few days ago, and convinced her that a partnership between she and us would be more than beneficial for all partied involved.

All the men were sitting around the oval table and unable to tear away their eyes from the giant screen. What they were watching made them salivate to meet this incredible agent they so heard so much of. Finally, one of them decided to speak for the entire group.

“When can we meet this agent? “The tall dark man said to McKenas Cole

“Gentlemen, she is here in the flesh, she actually waiting outside and requested that she come to this meeting to introduce herself to you all.” Cole said with a big smirk on his face.

A tall dark woman entered the room, once inside; she scoped the room looking to see who the leader of the bunch was. Finally, her eyes stopped to a tall man that was sitting in the middle of the big conference table. She walked toward him, once she was in front of him, she stopped, and she extended her hand and smiled.

“Good evening Sir.” She said while shaking his hand

“Gentlemen, let me introduce you to Miss Anna Espinosa.” Cole said, as everyone in the room couldn't believe that the woman they heard some much of during their dealings with K- directorate was actually standing in front of them.

“Gentlemen, I am honored to be part of your new Organization and I am fully prepared to contribute my knowledge of Rambaldi with you.” Anna said as she took a seat in front of the panel of men.

Good update. Anna is working with Cole and the Covenant now? That really can't be good for S/V.

~ Chapter 20
~ Ready or not, here we go

First, let me introduce you to some of the members of the Covenant. You might recognize some of the names, since some of them are old members of the Alliance: Alain Christophe, Brian Johnson, Edward Pool, and Victor Brown.

Anna entered the room and scoped the room looking at the familiar faces staring back at her. They all seemed very surprised to see her here tonight at their meeting. She finally settled her eyes on Alain Christophe and extended her hand and smiled.

“Good evening Sir.” She said as Cole stared at he crowd an spoke:

“Gentlemen, you would remember Anna Espinosa, she was a valuable asset to K-Directorate a few years ago. Miss Espinosa can contribute a great deal to our Organization as she is not only a Rambaldi expert but also one of the best at what she does.”

“The best.” Anna corrected Cole as she stood beside him and smiled before facing the panel of gentlemen sitting in front of her.

“Gentlemen, I am honored you recruited me for this mission. As some of you may know, I have been chasing Rambaldi’s artifacts for a few years now. When K-Directorate was dismantled by your organization, I decided to continue the quest on my own and was quite successful. “She said on a confident tone, “And now you need my help. I am willing to share my knowledge with you all, but it has to be on my terms.”

“Which are?” Edward Pool asked an intrigue look upon his face.

Anna Espinosa is an impressive woman, confident and deadly. She had been a valuable asset to K-Directorate in its early stage but when the Alliance took over the organization, Anna Espinosa had been no where in site. She had gone rogue and quite successful with her operations. They heard amazing things about her quest and were excited to have her on board, even if it comes at a very high price. Anna Espinosa is a woman only loyal to herself; but her allegiance to the Covenant might be questionable, but the end result remains, they needed her to locate the last Rambaldi’s artifact.

Alain Christophe looked around his colleagues and finally addressed Anna:

“Miss Espinosa, we are glad that you decided to join our organization, we heard such great things about you while you were working for K- Directorate. We asked Mc Cole to contact you because you are an expert regarding Rambaldi and your help in finding the last remaining artifact will be a welcomed addition to our organization. I am just wondering why you decided to come and work for us when you could have simply searched for the object on your own.” He asked, looking at her and then back at the gentlemen sitting by his side.

“Gentlemen, I know that my presence at this point of time might make some of you very nervous but let me assure you that I wouldn’t have come here if I didn’t think that a partnership with the Covenant wouldn’t be beneficial for both of us.” Anna said as she looked at the panel sitting in front of her.

Christophe looked surprise by her answer and decided it was time to know her real intention:

“From what we read about you, you’re very familiar with the Rambaldi’s manuscript since at one time, K-Directorate and SD-6 was battling to acquire the book. What you didn’t know at the time Miss Espinosa was SD-6 was a covered branch of the Alliance. From the pages of the book, we discovered that Sydney Bristow plays a big part in the realization of the prophecy. Our specialists are deciphering the last part of that manuscript as we speak. Their discovered that Sydney Bristow has a sister that is equally important in the prophecy and Arvin Sloane’s daughter.”

“You want me to find them?” Anna said

“Nadia Santos and Sydney Bristow are the last part of the puzzle that we need to complete this quest. You find them and bring them to us, and in no circumstance should they be harmed in any way.”

Mr. Johnson slides a document across the table in front of Anna. She opened the folder and skimmed through it before lifting her head up to look at the men sitting in front of her. The document included recent pictures of Sydney and Nadia and a brief history of their involvement in the prophecy.

“Nadia Santos disappeared. She was last seen in a safehouse before her father, Arvin Sloane convinced her to go with him on his search of the artifact. We can emphases enough that the passenger is the only one who can lead us to the Sphere of Life. Knowing Arvin Sloane, he won’t hesitate to use his daughter to get his hands on the Sphere of Life.

We will give you a partner to help you in this task, he will report to us about your discoveries. We provided you with a plane ticket and you can choose your alias on route. Study the document on your way there and good luck.” After the information had been shared, all the men stood up and started to leave. Anna grabbed her suitcase and headed to the airport with her new partner in toe.

Sydney and Vaughn were sitting on a plane on their way to Zurich. Vaughn was re-reading the plan that Jack made earlier that night. He wanted to make sure that they had accounted for all the possible scenarios so that there will no surprises once they get there. Vaughn was flipping the pages when his eyes met Sydney’s. he got up and sat next to her.

“Hey, you’ve been quiet, are you ok?” He said with a concern look on his face

“I don’t why, but I have a bad feeling about this mission. The past few days, everything I close my eyes, all I keep seeing is something bad happening to you.” She said as he pulled her close to him and kissed her forehead.

“Syd, you feel this way because we’re close to ending this nightmare.” He said touching her face as she leaned in even closer to him.” Don’t worry about me, nothing bad will happen to me, I promise. “Vaughn leaned in and quickly kissed her on the lips.

“Vaughn, I still don’t know if we can fully trust my mother. For all we know, we might end up victims of her endgame. Also what’s going to happen once we have the map? We need to find Sloane and my sister and then locate the device. Vaughn, promise me that in no circumstances, we are bringing the artifact home. “Sydney said as she looked in his eyes.

“Syd, I promise you, that device will be destroyed because there is no way I would let that thing control our life anymore. We lost so much time because of it and if destroying it, can bring us the normal life that we both want; I am very much for it. So for now, get some rest and no bad dreams, ok? “Vaughn said as he smiled in hope of reassuring her. Sydney lied down while Vaughn brushed her hair as she fought to stay awake. His soothing hand on her hair was appeasing as she was glad he was with her. Vaughn got up from his seat to let Sydney get some rest, when she opened her eyes, grabbed his hand and gently pulled him back down in his seat.

“Vaughn stay with me, I need to feel your arms around me.” She said as she moved over, so that he would have enough room to lie down beside her.

Vaughn was watching her sleep and he could feel her being very restless and talking in her sleep. He couldn’t promise her that everything will be alright during this mission. They both knew the danger ahead but all he could promise her is that no matter what, they will be seeing the end of this saga, one way or another.

A few hours later, Sydney and Vaughn are checking their equipment one last time.

“Infra red scopes.” Vaughn said as he handed the glasses to Sydney for inspection.

Sydney turned them on and off. “Check” she said when she handed them back to Vaughn.

They went through the rest of the gear, passing the equipment back and forth between them.

“Mini-cam, computer disks, climbing gear, a compass, guns, headsets and the mini computer and a Di- scrambler. They looked at all the gear and looked at each other.

“Do you think we have everything?” Sydney smiled

“Syd, Always be overly prepared, that’s my new motto.” Vaughn smiled at her

“Mr. Vaughn, Miss Bristow,” the pilot said over the intercom, “We will be landing at the Zurich airport in about 15 minutes.

“Thank you.” Vaughn said grabbing Sydney’s hands in his as they faced each other.

“I love you.” He said looking into her eyes

“I love you too.” She replied. They each took their seats next to each other and bucked up.

“Ready?” Vaughn turned his head to check up on Sydney one last time and smiled.

“Let’s do it.” Sydney grabbed his hand and smiled back at him.
