The Seven
Day 5
As soon as I woke up, I nudged Vaughn and said, "Michael..wake up, we
forgot to check and see if our sandcastle won anything!" He rolled over, looking
half dead and moaned, "We can check it today." then he turned over and started
snoaring really loud.
I kicked him, not hard of course. "Michael, wake up!" He rolled out of bed,
took a shower, and got dressed. "Syd, we're never gonna win, there were like experts
there!" Michael shouted over the water. "You have good confidence," I replied sarcastically.
He laughed, and finally got out and got dressed. After a nice breakfast at the hotel,
we ran over to the beach pavillion.
Sure enough, they had the results for the sandcastle competition.."Oh my gosh
Michael!" I shouted as I scanned the list, "We won 2nd!!" " That's awesome!!
I wonder who beat us." he said. "Michael, you entered us as Sydney and Michael Vaughn."
I said smiling. He grinned, "Yeah, well it was easier to put one last name." I kissed him, and
we walked around on the beach.
At noon we decided to go water skiing. I drove the boat, and Michael rode
the skis. It was great, because I could jerk the boat any time I wished, and Michael
would go flying into the water. But, I wasn't that mean. After an hour of that, we
took a picnic lunch, and went out in a sailboat. It was great, the waves weren't that
bad, and we had a nice peaceful lunch out in the ocean.
Everything was going great, until a group of sea gulls came over, and
decided that they were hungry. 3 of them went down on Michael and I and we
started laughing our heads off. When we finally thought we got rid of them, 3
more came. We were rocking the sailboat, and before we knew it, we were
in the water.
We gave the birds the last of our food, and sailed back to shore.
"That was insane!" Mike said as we gave back our rented sailboat.
"At least I got the best picture of you being attacked by a seagull!"
"Ha, well that's real nice!" he laughed.
We spent more time at the beach, and then we decided to
go shopping. We both bought some nice souviners, and we both had
also gotte a nice tan. For dinner, Michael suggested dinner at
La Superica Taco. It was the best place to eat, the food was delicious
and it was all hand-made right there.
At 7:00, Michael insisted we go to the beach. "I just showered!"
I argued. "Well, I told you to wait, just please, Syd...that's all I ask."
Michael had been acting weird all day. I sighed, "Okay, just for a little,
but I'm not going in the water, or getting full of sand." Michael nodded
in agreement, and we were off.
The waves were really big at the beach, and there were a lot
of people there, all the same, Michael wanted to go, so I didn't argue.
After watching him go in the waves for awhile, he quickly ran out
to me and asked me what time it was. "7:47" I replied. and he
dried off.
Then, I saw one of those beach planes that carry signs on them,
usually for all the guests to see. Only when I read this sign, I knew it
wasn't for all the guests.
It read: Syd, I love you, Will you marry me? -Mike
I looked at Vaughn, who was pretending not to notice it, and
threw my arms around him. Everyone else at the beach was staring
at us, and a crowd of entertainers came up and started playing
their instruments to some love songs.
Finally, they handed Michael a microphone and he got
down on one knee, looked me in the eyes, and asked me to
be his wife. I was crying now, and I couldn't help it. I looked at
him, and grabbed the microphone and said one word: "Yes!"
He opened up a small box he had gotten from his
pocket, and pulled out a small, diamond ring. We kissed, and
life couldn't have gotten better at that moment.
