Chapter 3
“You’re sure that Ashley is expecting us?” Sydney asked as she and Michael drove down the streets of Normandy to his sister’s estate.
“Yes, I am positive, now, will you please relax?” Vaughn laughed.
“I am relaxed” Sydney told him as she tapped her fingers nervously against the upholstery on the arm of the chair.
“Then why is the seat receiving the beating of a life time?” Vaughn smiled.
“Shut up Vaughn! This is a big deal…it’s almost as big as meeting the parents” Sydney told him.
“But it’s meeting the sister” Vaughn laughed.
“Urgh! This…this is you being hopeless” Sydney told him.
“Alright, well, we’ll worry about my hopelessness later, right now…we’re here” Vaughn told her as they pulled into an old estate that had been transformed into a huge brick mansion with wrought iron gates with a J&A L at the head of the overhead gate.
“We are?” Sydney took a deep breath.
“Oh stop being melodramatic” Vaughn joked as he pulled up to the security gate.
“Name” the large black man stated flatly.
“Michael Vaughn, Sydney Bristow” Vaughn told the man with a courteous nod.
“Do you have any weapons on you Mr. Vaughn?” the man asked him.
“Um…a gun…a knife” Vaughn looked at Sydney.
“A gun” Sydney told him.
“We’ll be taking those, you won’t be needing them inside the estate” he told them.
Sydney and Vaughn nodded before taking their firearms and knives out and handing them to the man. Michael knew that Ashley was a very secure person since their father had died, so these precautions didn’t alarm him in the least.
“Please progress to the man house” the man nodded lifting the gate for them.
“Thanks” Vaughn nodded.
“Does Ashley know…that my mom…killed your dad?” Sydney asked him hesitantly.
“Yes, she does” Vaughn told her.
“Ok…good” Sydney nodded.
“Well, get your ass out of the car” Vaughn laughed as he stopped in front of the main house and stepped out of the car only to be greeted by his smiling sister.
“MICHAEL!” Ashley smiled happily.
“Ashley Elizabeth get your butt over here” he smiled happily as his sister began to run over to him and hug him warmly.
Ashley held the embrace, knowing fully that it would likely be the final warm embrace she and her brother would share for a long time.
When they finally did pull out of the embrace, Ashley turned to Sydney.
“Sydney, it is so great to see you again” Ashley smiled and hugged her warmly.
“It’s great to see you too Ashley, you have a beautiful home” Sydney smiled.
“You haven’t seen the inside…it’s a train wreck with Michelle running around all the time” Ashley laughed.
“How is my little niece?” Vaughn asked as they began the walk to the front door.
“She’s good…she’s with mom” Ashley smiled.
“Oh, why’s that?” Michael asked as he stepped into the house.
“Because…I wanted you to meet someone and Michelle didn’t need to be here for that” Ashley told him nervously as she began to lead them into Julian’s office.
“Who are we meeting? The mystery husband?” Michael smirked.
“Yes” Ashley nodded and led them into the room.
“Holy sh*t” Vaughn muttered as he backed out of the doorway and looked at the face that stared back at him.
