Chapter 32

Sydney and Vaughn walked arm-in-arm down the aisle. When they reached the front of the church, they separated and took their places. Sydney was standing on the left in the maid-of-honor position. Vaughn stood next to a nervous Weiss.
All three heads turned toward the doorway when the bridal march began. Jenny walked slowly down the aisle a huge grin on her face.

Jenny handed Sydney her bouquet of flowers and joined hands Weiss. The pianist finished the bridal march and the Justice of the Peace began the cremony.

”Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to join the holy matrimony of Eric Weiss and Jenny Masterson.."

The Justice finished the ceremony with Eric and Jenny exchanging the traditional vows.

”By the power invested in me by the state of Nevada I noww pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss your bride.”

Eric and Jenny smiled at each other before sharing their first kiss together as husband and wife.

After the paperwork was complete, Eric and Jenny rushed upstairs to consummate their relationship as a married couple.

Vaughn watched as Sydney sniffled and wiped away the tears that had been freely falling down her cheeks.

”That was just so beautiful,” Sydney cried.

”I can’t believe Eric is married.”

”I know. My little sister is all grown up.”

Vaughn wiped a few tears that made their way down Sydney’s cheeks.

”Michael?”

”Hmm?”

”We should get married.”

”Now?” Vaughn asked surprised.

Sydney was about to answer when Vaughn’s cell phone began to ring.

“Hello?” Vaughn answered, irritated. He wanted, no needed, to hear what Sydney had to say.

“Vaughn, where are you and Sydney?”

Vaughn covered the speaker of his phone. “Syd, we forgot to call your dad.”

”felgercarb, let me talk to him.” Sydney said, as Vaughn handed her the phone.

”Hey Daddy.”

”Sydney, is something wrong? Are you crying?”

Sydney wiped away a couple more tears. “I’m good, they’re happy tears.”

”Where are you?”

”Michael and I decided to go away for a long weekend. I’m so sorry, I forgot to call. We didn’t get here until 2 this morning...” Sydney rambled on.

”Sweetheart, its okay, do you know where your sister is?”

Sydney gulped. ”Ummm...”

”Well, do you?”

”Yes, I do. But I can’t tell you. She should tell you.”

Jack sighed irritated. “Fine. Do you think she has her cell phone on?”

”I doubt it.” Sydney said, knowing that Eric and Jenny were very busy at the moment.

”If you talk to her, tell her to call me. Are you sure you’re okay?”

”I told you, they’re happy tears. You’ll understand later. It’s these hormones making me overly emotional.”

”Fine, I’ll talk to you later. Bye.”

”Bye Dad, love ya.”

”Love you, too.”

Sydney hung up the phone and gave it back to a still surprised Vaughn.

”Honey, I didn’t mean get married now. Don’t look so shocked.”

”What did you mean then?”

”I meant we should get married soon. Like before the baby is born. I want my dad and your mom, and all our friends there.”

”Okay. Do you want to get married when we get home?” Vaughn asked with a smile.

”We could. My dad’s backyard would be perfect.”

”And my mom knows a guy who could do the ceremony.”

“We’re going to get married!” Sydney exclaimed.

”When? We could have everything ready in a week.”

”Alright, let’s get married next week,” Sydney smiled, kissing Vaughn quickly.

Vaughn gave Sydney one of his special weak in the knees smiles. ”Did your dad ask about Jenny?”

”Yes, he wanted to know why I was crying and where Jenny was. I told him it wasn’t my place to tell him. That he should talk to Jenny. He wanted to call her now.”

“I hope you stopped him.”

”I did.”

“So what do you want to do today?” Vaughn asked, grabbing Sydney’s free hand, the other rested on her large stomach.

”Well, we are in Vegas. Let’s go to the casino. I know there’s at least one in this hotel.”

”That sounds like fun. Let’s go.”

Three hours later, Sydney and Vaughn walked into their room. Vaughn had a scowl on his face, because he had lost $100, when Sydney had won $875.

“It’s okay, honey.” Sydney said.

”I can’t believe I lost money. I mean, I’ve never lost money before in Vegas.”

”Well, if you combine our totals, we still won $775.”

Vaughn just rolled his eyes, a glare still on his face.

”At least I had fun,” Sydney laughed. “I’m going to order room service, do you want anything?”

“Yeah,” Vaughn said, grabbing the menu.

They decided what they wanted and Sydney placed their orders. Ten minutes later, the food was bought up.

Vaughn set the food down on the table and got two waters out of the mini-fridge.

“This is probably the last chance we’ll get to go away before the baby’s born.” Sydney thought aloud.

”I know, I can’t believe we’re going to be parents in eight weeks.”

“At least we have the nursery ready; we just have to get some clothes, diaper, and stuff like that.”

“Yeah,” Vaughn smiled. “When we get back, we can go shopping if you want.”

”Okay, we can get that bib, I know you secretly wanted.”

“Really?”

”Yeah.”

Sydney and Vaughn spent the rest of the evening, talking about the baby and what they still needed to do. They even discussed the possibility of Jonathan having a cousin in a couple years.

After eating, Sydney and Vaughn decided to go for a swim. Sydney had finished changing and was watching Vaughn as he changed, when her phone rang.

”Hello?” Sydney answered cheerfully.

”Sydney Anna Bristow, I would hurt you right now if you weren’t pregnant.”

”What did I do?”

”You knew your sister was getting married and even went to the wedding without even mentioning it to me.”

”Oh, yeah, that.”

“Don’t play innocent with me.”

”I thought Jenny should be the one to tell you she got married, not me.” Sydney explained.

”You could have told me last night that she was getting married.”

”Then she wouldn’t be eloping. Where’s the excitement in that?”

That wasn’t the answer Jack wanted. “I can’t hurt you. But when you get back to LA tell Vaughn to look out. He should have told me.” Jack yelled.

”But Daddy, you can’t hurt him. Do you want my baby- that we are naming after you- to grow up without a father? Plus Weiss made us promise not to tell,” Sydney lied.

”Oh, so it’s Agent Weiss I should go after. He should also know better than to mess with me. I’ll call a contact; have the marriage annulled so I can be there at a real wedding.”

”Daddy, you are completely overreacting. They eloped and there is nothing you can do about it now. Just be happy for them. Oh God, what did you say to Jenny? Did you upset her?”

”I may have yelled at her a little.”

”Call her now and apologize and tell her congratulations.”

”But Sydney, she shouldn’t have eloped without me.”

“Daddy,” Sydney warned.

”Fine, I’ll call her now.”

”You better. Bye.” Sydney said, hanging up.

”My dad found out about the wedding.”

”He didn’t take it well?” Vaughn asked.

Sydney gave Vaughn a look. “That’s the understatement of the year. He was livid. He even threatened to hurt you, because you didn’t tell him. Then he wanted to have the marriage annulled and they get married again with him there.”

Vaughn laughed.

”You ready to go to the pool?” Vaughn asked when he recovered.

”Yeah. Do you think I look fat in this bathing suit?”

”You look beautiful, definitely not fat. I’m going to have to beat away the men with a stick.”

”I seriously doubt that, but thank you honey.” Sydney said, kissing him lightly.

”Let’s go,” Vaughn smiled, grabbing Sydney’s hand and a couple towels.

The pool wasn’t very crowded. There was a group of teenage girls and some parents bringing their young children to the pool.

Sydney lay down in a chair with a book. Vaughn took off his tee-shirt, revealing his tanned, muscular upper body.

Vaughn expertly dove into the pool and began to swim around. Sydney noticed the teenage girls checking him out.

”Michael,” Sydney called out, getting Vaughn’s attention. Vaughn got out of the pool and walked over to where Sydney was sitting.

Sydney put her arm around Vaughn’s neck and pulled him into a passionate kiss.

When the broke apart, Vaughn grinned and asked,”What was that for?”

”Those girls were checking you out. I had to mark my territory,” Sydney whispered.

”I didn’t even notice them.”

”Good.”

”You’re not jealous are you?”

”Of course not, I just don’t want them looking at you anymore. You’re all mine.”

”Don’t worry; you’re the only one I want.” Vaughn smiled, giving Sydney a loving kiss. ”Why don’t you come swimming with me?”

”Because I don’t want to take off my tee shirt”

”You’re beautiful and I want everyone to see my baby.” Vaughn grinned, rubbing Sydney’s belly.

”Fine,” Sydney agreed reluctantly.

Sydney took off her tee shirt to reveal a black one piece swimsuit. She couldn’t hide the fact she was pregnant.

Sydney eased into the warm, indoor pool. She glanced over at the young teenagers and saw them murmuring. Now they knew he had a fiancé that was pregnant, they wouldn’t be looking at him anymore.

Vaughn came up behind Sydney and picked her up. He spun her around gently, before kissing her.

”I love you, Syd.”

”I love you, Michael.”

Michael sat Sydney down and whispered into her ear, “How about we get out the pool and go to bed?”

Sydney nodded with a smile and they began the journey to their room.
